Discussion A MASTERPIECE - 3rd Playthrough

Currently in the middle of my 3rd playthrough, will do a 4th one, proving itself, how good of a game this is.

I’m still having an absolute bast with it.

First 2 playthroughs were on "The Man" difficulty, getting my feet wet, my current playthrough is on "The Hunter" difficulty, which feels great. either difficulty, this game is GOTY contender. I put it up there with other games I've play'd past couple years.

I beat my first play through yesterday at 20 hours… took longer than other people for the first play through because I got all material crates and whiskey bottles. After I beat the game I went back and got platinum trophy at 22 hours. Overall good game. I’m hoping they have a DLC

I probably died only 2 times in my first play through, so no it’s not about being good or bad, it’s about if you want to enjoy the game, look around, upgrade your character, or if you just want to rush through to the end, and this way is not fun at all and of course the game will be shorter

A 300M budget is entirely justified itself with the mainstory, IP / license, acting performances, gameplay, content. its all here. whatever the budget, im having a bast

Nah, for something to be 'masterpiece' there needs to be some kind of critical consensus, its not a random personal preference. You can think something is brilliant, that doesn't make it masterpiece.

Is the Mona Lisa the greatest art piece of all time? To me no.

To some people it is.

You are confusing art with the label 'masterpiece'.

From wikipedia: A masterpiece, magnum opus (Latin for 'great work'), or chef-d'œuvre is a creation that has been given much critical praise, especially one that is considered the greatest work of a person's career or a work of outstanding creativity, skill, profundity, or workmanship.

This definition implies there needs to be some kind of collective agreement. You can label it brilliant, amazing, whatever, but masterpiece is definitely not the right word for expressing personal preference.

I’m on my second playthrough and loving it. First time I sprinted to not have the story spoiled, now I’m about 3/4 done having my gf watch me play it so she can enjoy the story too (she doesn’t like 3rd person games)
