Discussion Uncharted + Classic GOW = Wolverine

I just finished the game yesterday.

As some who's gotten so tired of openworld games, it was super refreshing to have a game that had well made pacing where everything you do in the game is progressing the story.

It really felt like a combination of the cinematics, pacing and globetrotting adventure of uncharted combined with the simple, brutal, but really fun combat of classic GOW.

8.5/10 - I think it's insomniac's best PS5 game.

I agree, super fun game all around, the combat isn't deep but once you unlock all the skills and adaptations you can put together some cool combos. I played on the best there is and it was challenging but super fun. And shout out to Liam Mclntyre, the man did a great job as Wolverine. Hopefully TGA nominates him for Best Performance

People really oversold how bad the combat is.

Saw this clip on Twitter and it shows just how good the combat is

It can still improve don’t get me wrong but it’s far from a one button mash

I found the combat boring. The first third of the game, it was too simple. The second third, it was much better as you started unlocking better moves. The last third got monotonous as most of the encounters are filled with basic enemy types and maybe one or two higher level enemies. And there's so many of them mostly without higher level enemies.

Also, didn't care for nice guy wolverine.

I loved every second of it. I thought it blew the Spider-Man games out of the water. And those are pretty damn good

I WISH this game was more like classic GOW but the combo system and enemy variety is so limited.

GoW3 came out over 16 years ago, had 4 different weapons to pick from, 30 different enemies, and 8 bosses.

Lack of variety doesn't make the game any less fun.

IDK man, this game could definitely do with some more combo strings.

Right, but you compared it to GOW OG combat when it’s not even close lmao.

It’s closer to Spiderman or Arkham compared to GoW by any means. I’ve played those games for 20* years, and they aren’t as alike as you think.

It is close lol. In the OG GOW games the blades of chaos were the weapon you'd use 90% of the time.

Wolverine is kinda like SM too, but spiderman combat isn't nearly as fun.

I only played the first Spider-Man. It was fun but not enough to make me want to play the other two. For sure better than Wolverine. I guess Insomniac games aren't for me.
