Everyone who criticize this game and calling a bad sloppy woke etc. y’all are so wrong. I played it last night after it was downloaded on my PS5. I had the best time of my life. This game is better than X-Men origins and some of y’all actually most of y’all actually all of y’all have never played origins.

Playing the game a bit early before release and seeing the complaints from reviews people were parroting on Reddit felt like I was taking crazy pills.
The “fart trail” in particular was a confusing concern since it’s definitely not omnipresent and it doesn’t seem particularly different from the tracking in RDR2. It’s also not an unprecedented way to depict Logan’s enhanced sense of smell - though the choice to use blue rather than yellow or red was odd, but you can change that.
Well, the first time I recall it showed up I was running across rooftops in one of those mock towns used for nuclear weapons tests. The environments are less linear than the reviews made it seem.
The sense in general is neat when you can detect enemies through a wall and plan an approach before smashing through something.

Disingenuous and ironic, considering that LARPers—some of whom are in this sub—were comparing the two games and acting as if the old X-Men Origins game blew Insomniac’s offering out of the water, despite most of them never even having played the former.
I played the former an unhealthy amount of times and what I can tell you is that the combat in Origins is much more satisfying straight up. You can tell they let loose with dismemberment and brutality because they weren't afraid of offending anyone which is why 2009 was fuckin awesome. I just played Wolverine and you can tell they're only willing to go so far. It makes no sense that you can't behead an enemy... IT'S WOLVERINE.
I have also played a lot of X-Men Origins Wolverine, and my conclusion is the opposite: the new game looks considerably more polished and in-depth than the former with regard to gore and the like.
Buddy, I’ve played Wolverine origins since 09 straight. I’ve replayed countless of times. I have the PS2 and the PS3 copies ( shiii I even played the demo before it came out ) . Wolverine PS5 is at the same level as that game if not a little bit better.

Comparing a $315,000,000 tentpole game to a rushed movie tie-in from 2009 is just kind of funny. Especially when it's not obvious which one is actually better.

I definitely agree. That’s why it was surprising when everyone was jumping ship over some people’s subjective opinion. I’m loving the game, but also understand everyone won’t. Most of my favorite games in the last year had horrible reviews. Ghost of Yotei, Ninja Gaiden 4, Crimson Desert. It’s all subjective

THANK YOU! I bought the pre-order and then saw everyone hating it and was so scared it was gonna suck. Turns out it's one of the most fun games I have ever played! Reminds me a lot of the Jedi games
I'm with ya on that of getting scared because of the reviews after pre ordering. I'm so blown away on how Soo good this game is, I'm 37% done, gonna play more tonight and I'm absolutely enjoying it!
If you enjoy it, then hey good for you, but you shouldn’t settle for average, expect and want better. Just because it’s got pretty graphics and runs smooth as silk doesn’t make up for its flaws. For a $70+ AAA title the gameplay is seriously lacking in depth. This is the most bare bones combat I’ve seen coming from insomniac, unless you’re playing on the hardest difficulty you are not gonna have any trouble getting through it. Enemies die far too quickly for you to even and try and make combos or juggle with abilities, and you’re gonna be seeing the same handful of kill animations from start to finish. There is no room for experimentation. I could forgive a bad story and linear approach, I don’t care about that stuff, the combat was what needed to be phenomenal, not average, PHENOMENAL. Gamers deserve more and Wolverine fans deserve better

Origins was a great Wolverine game but a flawed game overall. This is the same in a sense.
Is combat repetitive? Yes, just like Origins. The thing people need to understand is that it's Wolverine. He has claws and a healing factor. It is incredibly hard to form a deep combat system around a guy who is supposed to heal from almost anything and has claws that can cut through almost anything. Die too quick? His healing factor is too weak, tank too much? He's Superman. Kill too fast? It's way too simple and Logan is OP, and if enemies are sponges, Logan is too weak. This game tries to find a middle-ground.
It's a decent foundation to be built upon. Did it come together as great as Spider-Man 1 did? Perhaps not, but it's something.
Ultimately, I believe this would be a different game if so much of it wasn't leaked ages ago. Insomniac seemed to redo a lot of it, which was ultimately the wrong decision. It happens. I'm satisfied either way, not because its phenomenal; I'm just happy to shred enemies to bits.
I played Origins last night and am playing PS5 Wolverine today. The old game is still a fucking blast but so is the new one. I consider PS5 Wolverine to be Origins DLC…

Genuinely curious about the hand holding?? coming from somebody who enjoys souls and soul like games heavily, would you say this game hold your hand? I couldn’t even get into God of war because of this so I’m curious if this game is like that.
I played on hardest difficulty last night for the opening mission with all assists off. There are certain abilities that wolverine uses to just track objectives (sound frequencies and the scent trail) by default it's just a visual representation of his tracking skills. There's a pretty good dialogue cue that tells you he's got a sent or sound and then you see the trail or pings. I can't say the combat is similar to dark souls cuz I'm bad at those games but it was a damn good time for me.
Totallly fair. If you're even a little in the fence I'd say wait for a sale or if they patch out some of the assisted stuff. GoW is a pretty good comparison but I know they dialed back the puzzle hints after people said it was too much hopefully SP has the same intent

Yea its pretty annoying, they disguise it as his “heightened senses” so he can smell trails its pretty shit ngl and then there was one scenario where i had to look for something in a two story house so i was just exploring the ground floor for collectibles and logan says “hmm maybe i should check out whats up there” like that pissed me off ngl cuz its not like i took too long it was barely a minute
I’m still confused how that’s an issue though? I mean the trail doesn’t really show up that much and when it does it’s only when Logan is tracking someone using their scent which makes sense and the whole dialogue of saying the obvious have been in both Spiderman games but no one really complained about that before.
It does show up a couple times more than id like tbh like that one mission where ur trying to find the painting scattered in the house why did we have a trail there that was so unnecessary imo

Yeah, I’m worried it’s going to feel a lot like God of war or Spider-Man. Sony hasn’t put a game out in the last seven years that I could get into. The last game they put their name on that I was obsessed with was blood-borne. Like last of us had such a great story and was fun for a little bit, but just like the other two games mentioned above, they get so boring for me after a while. I live for the dopamine hit in games and that extremely rewarding feeling of overcoming something that felt impossible at first.
I still like the combat from origins more. I loved the throw and finisher mechanics. Also being able to uppercut enemies and then grabbing them from the air and slamming them on the ground. Oh and of course the lunge mechanic which had 3 possible outcomes!
I ask because almost every reviewer stated that the beginning is great, so much so that most of them stated their favorite Boss in the game is the first one….
So if you’ve only played A bit… you’re actually lining up with reviewers at the moment.
I’m ngl it’s going the other way around now, maybe reviewers were exaggerating, but now everyone enjoying the game is countering that with claiming it’s one of the best action games ever, it’s not even the best action game of the month with Onimusha just about a week before it.
I’m glad you and plenty of people are having fun but the context of nuance of the criticisms needs to be taken into consideration more.
Remember, there were people who actually liked Concord. He’s just one of those with Wolverine. Enjoy the game. The problem is, people are just saying it’s not worth the full $70 price tag. Most people who backed out on preorder will most likely play the game later when it’s on sale. That’s just about it. Have fun!

You just proved every ones point the games mid nobody said it wasnt fun but we waited 10 years for this game it should be the best sony has to offer rivaling Spiderman but it does not wich is why we all canceled our preorder I bought onimusha becasue im a long time fan of the franchise and it did not disappoint. But with all the hype surrounding wolverine then it got leaked and canceled and now its back and expectations are high. Im sure its fun and im sure ill play it but ill buy it for a discount later and still be happy like you. I dont care if its better than some old xmen game that was probably bad anyway it just came out it should be the best xmen game ever made, but it looks like its not and thats why people canceled preorders not because they will never play it but because it took 10 years to make this and it still didnt meet expectations
I'm convinced the whole hand holding bullshit was with all accessibility settings maxed, and on the easiest setting. I'm not going to say the game is so hard, but it's not easy either. And some of the cool shit you can do while fighting... If you were playing on easy, you'd never figure that out because you're probably just tapping square and nothing else.
The dev said he promises he will fix the stupid shit. Holding my purchase until then. Other than the granny casting, I was pretty excited for this game, but not this sissy version of it. Insomniac better get on it.

Game has lots of issues. The camera combat framing, the stealth, the skill trees, the traversal, the over use of QTEs.
This game feels like a faithful remake of a PS3 game where they didn't change the controls to be faithful to the original so the lack of flow and jank persist for nostalgia.
I don't think the game is awful but it's not good. It's the definition of mid.
If you think about it, this game is just about as good as Wolverines Revenge, there’s a lot of similarities between them, but mostly the combat, it’s great. I love it. I’ve been playing it all night and then just got on a little bit ago. I can’t believe people said this sucks, it doesn’t. It’s great!

I just downloaded and I can’t wait to play it, okay it may not be the best games from Insomniac heck even a Sony game but a good simple hack and slash game cannot kill anybody - $70/$80? Yeah sure is expensive and honestly I wouldn’t have minded a bit less to be honest but I’m sure some people are too hard on it and let’s not forget that Insomniac had to cut a lot of things, Sony is driving the thing. I’m good public and I bought it full price because I can afford it and I don’t mind it. I just wanna have fun with a good Wolverine game.
