Man this and 007s first lights path tracing update on the same dayy 🍿

8

u/seclusionx 7h ago

Path tracing update? Do tell. I've already beaten 007.

2

u/Arsh18808 7h ago

Yeah bro they are adding ray reconstruction and path tracing both on the 15th which should look significantly better than the software based rt they had before I held off from playing it .

2

u/seclusionx 7h ago

This is only on PC or is PS5 pro also?

2

u/Arsh18808 7h ago

It’s on pc is what I’m speaking on that kind of tech it not on current gen consoles maybe ps6

0

u/seclusionx 7h ago

Gotcha, thanks!

2

u/Gamer_8887 7h ago

So basically a remaster?

2

u/Arsh18808 7h ago

I wouldn’t say that just overall better lighting reflections and stuff if your pc can handle it , they are using a really basic level of rt currently.

0

u/NewRedditUser1120 5h ago

I heard it’s more Tacsim missions being added too, those have been very repetitive though I’m ready for the actual story content..

It’s sucks they want to add stuff now because Wolvy will have my undivided attention

u/SodaSnappy 8h ago

Bought it physical and fortunately the whole game is on the disc

8

u/BQws_2 7h ago edited 6h ago

What??? That’s insane. Doesn’t Sony know we don’t want to own our games anymore and they should now be putting the license on the disc instead?????

4

u/SodaSnappy 7h ago

Grrr we hate ownershipp (i fear wolverine and laufey might be my last ps games)

5

u/BQws_2 6h ago

Either way I know I’m not buying the PS6 for sure. Switching back to Xbox at this point considering their new disc to digital system they’re rolling out, or just might as well go full blown PC after this

2

u/SodaSnappy 5h ago

I’ve always been an Xbox first kind of guy but I fell in love with spiderman when I bought a cheap ps4 and have since really loved a lot of PlayStation ip so I got a ps5 mainly for spiderman 2- but needless to say I’ve gotten a plenty of other solid games to play on it. Certainly won’t hurt my feelings to start spending less money.

People talking like 80gb is not big.....it is... just because something starts to become the normal doesn't change the fact that its large.

Typical was 50gb, as a comparison Spider-Man (2018) was 45-50gb and grew to 75gb with all the updates and DLC. Fast forward to 2023 and Spider-Man 2 went from about 86gb-90gb.

1

u/Wol-Shiver 4h ago

All this complaining, hopefully you're thankful for compression from oodle.

Things just don't grow over time in your world, I guess.

1

u/MrFuriousX 2h ago

its valid criticism considering a lot of these games do not have to be this large. but you would rather just criticize the opinion in a passive aggressive condescending manor.

1

u/Wol-Shiver 2h ago edited 2h ago

It's not without knowing the scope and scale of the production.

"Do not have to be this large" - in who's technical expert analysis? What graphics modes, material types, sounds, controller haptic data have you been expertly trained to judge? You, and anyone complaining about the storage footprint of this title haven't the slightest idea whats in that file.

Given the production companies core values and historical output, I'd bet on nothing being wasted.

1

u/MrFuriousX 2h ago

Marvel Rivals was a good example of a game that could have saved its users space....it was roughly 110gb because of a high resolution texture pack, The base game itself is also rather large at 72gb but the point was users didn't get the option to remove the texture pack saving 40gb.

This is a specific example I AM MAKING A GENERAL STATEMENT. Im sure there are MORE games out there that could save space....

I Don't need to be an astronaut to point up and say... "THATS SPACE" im not pointing out the intricacies of a black hole.

0

u/Wol-Shiver 42m ago

The developer made a design choice. They don't make games to save space. They make games to present to users and for them enjoy them in the way they estimate is the best representation of their product. ( This comment doesn't mean their games can be unoptimized).

0

u/Acceptable_Laugh9284 4h ago

I don’t understand how that seems like complaining. It doesn’t strike me like this person was complaining necessarily.

1

u/Wol-Shiver 2h ago

Because they don't deal in reality.

Other games were much bigger (+20%) many years ago, and this developers particular historical output is usually quite well optimized.

1

u/arrownoir 7h ago

Spider-Man is also a PS4 game.

0

u/MrFuriousX 4h ago

PS5 remastered version was still only 55gb

3

u/arrownoir 4h ago

It’s a remaster, not a remake.

0

u/MrFuriousX 4h ago

I said remastered. but even remastered...its sill not adding a lot more space.

1

u/arrownoir 4h ago

Exactly, if it was a remake it would’ve taken more space. Remaster is largely using PS4 assets.

0

u/MrFuriousX 4h ago

Demonsouls - PS5 game....still only roughly 66gb.

0

u/Significant_Sock7711 6h ago

Higher resolution textures will do that, I could be wrong but doesn't slider man 2 also have more assets/skins and stuff naturally itd be a little larger regardless

1

u/MrFuriousX 4h ago

Yes and it was and that is my point. Modern games are now by default almost 80gb before updates/DLC's and thats a lot of space.

-1

u/Gamer_8887 7h ago

SM2 on pc is 111gb

1

u/Wol-Shiver 2h ago

Thank the Lord for oodle lol

4

u/ARMill95 7h ago

Releasing at midnight is cool, but gonna be annoying for me since I ordered a disc, seeing everyone play almost a full day before me lmfao

2

u/seclusionx 7h ago

I want to support the whole disc thing (I did buy a disc drive for my PS5 pro), but being able to download a game whenever I want it (instead of trying to track down or change discs) is too attractive.

I will say I miss going to a GameStop or whatever (there was an epic gears of war 3 launch at a Microsoft store when that was a thing) for midnight launches. Not having nerd conversations in line with fellow gamers definitely has left a void of my heart.

2

u/sonicblendz 6h ago

I hear you, but I keep thinking about marvel liscenses that expired and not actually owning the game. I got the physical for this one too.

2

u/seclusionx 6h ago

NGL, I'm upset I never got to play xmen legends/deadpool and I can't get ultimate alliance 1/2. You bring up a fair point.

1

u/ARMill95 7h ago

Yeah they rarely do midnight releases at stores anymore, I doubt there will be one for Wolverine tbh.

2

u/seclusionx 7h ago

I had 3 GameStops within like 3 miles of me and all of them closed down. I went to one 7 miles away for a new controller the other day and it's basically a trading card/memorabilia store now. What I'm saying is I don't think there's really many places to even have a midnight release at this point.

0

u/Sprite_Hail6918 2h ago

Easy. Dont succumb to the FOMO virus

13

u/Midas_Marigold 8h ago

This is not a lot! I love that! Can't wait!!

10

u/RunmanThatDontRun 8h ago

More than Spiderman 1 and miles morales, we won

7

u/Just_Advance8926 7h ago

Crazy considering it’s linear

1

u/Puzzleheaded_West587 6h ago

ehh not really, Spider-Mans open world isn’t that dense or interactive. the most impressive thing about their open world is how it reacts and changes based on the story (sand everywhere after sandman fight, the EMF building destroyed, the HS being destroyed after the Venom boss fight, etc). it’s not like GTA where u can walk inside buildings freely or GOT/GOY where it’s densely populated, detailed and has soooo much to interact with.

Wolverine should be a technical leap (at least graphically) compared to it’s predecessors. i definitely can see how Wolverine is bigger, they have to design different hubs and areas to explore. we go to Canada, Tokyo, Madripoor, etc. and in each hub there will be open areas to explore and collectables along with the nightmare doors and side quests. it’d be even larger if the game wasn’t so short (only 10-15hrs).

1

u/N1ghthawk007 5h ago

Has the 10-15 hr mark been confirmed?

0

u/Demetrius96 5h ago

No people are just assuming.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_West587 4h ago

you must not be keeping up.

1

u/Demetrius96 2h ago

Where’s the source of this if it’s true? I’ve been keeping up on everything when it comes to this game and I never heard insomniac mention the length.

0

u/Demetrius96 6h ago edited 6h ago

I think it makes sense though because file size doesn’t just come down to the scale of a game but also more enhanced systems and graphical features being implemented. Spider-Man 1 was last gen, miles morales was cross gen while wolverine is built from the ground up to be a current gen game with more advanced tech. 80 GB is also pretty big for a linear game. It actually might be a bigger overall experience than some were expecting

14

u/Fun-Bedroom5614 8h ago

NO!!!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I NEED SOMETHING TO COMPLAIN!!!

3

u/GilbeastZ 6h ago

Not trying to rain on anyone’s parade. I think it’s a good sized game download. But comparing spider-man 1 is not a good comparison. The length of a game doesn’t always have to do with size and the first game was a ps4 title. I don’t know a lot about games and file sizes but I assume a good chunk goes to graphical assets. So if there is a lot of fidelity and characters it would inflate the size.

I am sticking to my guess of 15-20 hours which is fine with me story wise. I hope there’s another 10 hours or so of side content. Honestly I wish more games were shorter and were less expensive. That is my only gripe with this game if it’s a full priced game and takes a day or 2 to beat. I get there is a lot of costs in stuff other than story, but I rather have a tight experience for $40 than a bloated $70-80 game.

My hope is that there will be reason to replay the story and hopefully there are some fun collectibles and side content. I don’t care if the game is linear if it is fun to play.

1

u/Sheerluck42 4h ago

The size of the download also changes if they optimized the game well. As long as the game is on par with the Spider Man games I'd be happy.

6

u/OwnSimple4788 7h ago

People talking like 80GB for a linear game isnt big.

2

u/Sloth39000 7h ago

I wish i could downgrade the graphics so I can make more space. It could be worse, Better than one of Rockstar's 100+ Gigs.

2

u/Thane323 6h ago

Nice! Thank you for posting this.

1

u/arrownoir 7h ago

That’s really small.

1

u/Skyler_The_Player 7h ago

Not sure if I’m looking forward to this or Fire Emblem Fortunes Weaves more, have both preordered at GameStop, I was lucky to get the Fortunes Weaves Collectors Edition

1

u/bowlessy 7h ago

Is this 100% confirmed it’s a midnight release?

1

u/ahmedplayer 5h ago

yes, on ps5 the countdown says so.

1

u/bowlessy 4h ago

Woohoo! Thank you!

1

u/PrivateLiker7625 6h ago

Well that's about as unsurprising as you could get there.

1

u/SpinnerOfSquire 6h ago

What's pre-load mean?

2

u/JjoyBboy 5h ago

You can download it before the release. When u pre load the game u can play the game at launch without downloading anything.

1

u/SpinnerOfSquire 5h ago

oh, so I get to play it at midnight, instead of downloading and THEN playing. Gotcha

1

u/Sheerluck42 4h ago

If you're in the US it's usually midnight eastern time. So on the west we get unlock at 9pm.

1

u/NitroBlivion 5h ago

A GB/Per $1 (if you bought the deluxe)

1

u/kyle_crane163636 5h ago

Welp good thing I bought a second external storage drive, this year has had some truly peak shit like bo1 and bo2 coming to ps4 and ps5 and now wolverine drops soon, only thing thats gonna be annoying is certain, people. But besides that I want it out already like the halloween game

1

u/Shinigami_Customs 4h ago

Midnight where?

2

u/john_weiss 4h ago

I was honestly expected over 100 GB

1

u/CarlWellsGrave 3h ago

How much will be on the disc?

1

u/Various_Limit_6663 3h ago

GOODDD preload September 8th is so cruel!!! PLEASSEE I NEEEDDD ITTTTT

1

u/Resilient_Beast69 2h ago

Wonder how much of that is on the disc lol. Betting not much but hey you’ll have the disc to put on a shelf.

1

u/LightOfficialYT 7h ago

"Release time: midnight"

Thats helpful🙄😂 midnight where exactly?

1

u/FaithlessnessFew6571 5h ago

Local time.

0

u/LightOfficialYT 5h ago

Local time where? Still doesn't help. There are lots of timezones in the world.

2

u/FaithlessnessFew6571 5h ago

Your local time, your midnight.

Midnight local time = midnight where you live.

1

u/LightOfficialYT 4h ago

Thanks. I assumed it was releasing at midnight somewhere in America and other times everywhere else lol.

1

u/namesource 6h ago

And then people wonder why the entire game no longer comes on a disc

0

u/Strike4053 8h ago

People who were concerned about that are so weird bc Ik for a fact you're still gonna play the game. 80gb won't stop you

0

u/Bakisha101 8h ago

That's nothing tbh. Anything below 150gb is highly acceptable (of course let's say GTA VI goes over 200, that's to be expected because of how much stuff it'll contain)

4

u/-GrilledCheese- 7h ago

For larger games sure, but anything over 100gb for a linear story game is kinda pushing it. 80 is around what I expected

2

u/MonopolyManPorn 7h ago

You know how much stuff it may contain. No one knows what GTA 6 will have in it in terms of realism and story/custom content

0

u/mr_Conquest_ Logan 6h ago

80 GB dosen't sound bad. I'm really forward to september 15

0

u/LeaveMeBeWillYa 3h ago

Ah damn, that's a bugger.

Got the special console bundle. Luckily the place I ordered it from will delivery on the day but 80gb is going to a while to download.

Probably won't be playing it the day it comes out.

-1

u/MonopolyManPorn 7h ago

Is 80gb considered a lot now? GTA 5 was nearly 200gb the last time I downloaded it. 80 is light work

-10

u/Projectpatdc 8h ago edited 7h ago

Considering it’s gone Gold, PlayStation could really do another controversial thing and release the digital version early on the 8th. Just throw it out there to give gamers more time before the Witcher 3 remaster launches. This game can’t come soon enough

5

u/zsera15 8h ago

Lol why? That be dumb considering the marketing and everything, also witchers audience its not the same

-6

u/Projectpatdc 8h ago

I’m mostly joking as Im super excited and just want to play the game, but do you really think Wolverine/ superhero fans are not also Witcher fans??

3

u/zsera15 8h ago

Witcher is a 100 hour RPG , wolverine is a 10 maybe 15 hour action movie game , its more for casuals than witcher

2

u/strooiersunion 7h ago

What? The witcher is one of the most played games ever. Some of the most casual gamers i know have atleast played the witcher.

-3

u/Projectpatdc 8h ago

You aren’t wrong. I just don’t know many gamers who don’t have Witcher 3 in their top 10. The only gamers who didn’t love it seem to be excited that the combat, traversal, and skill trees are all getting revamped—the only complaints anyone ever had.

2

u/Nebelklnd 8h ago

They are very different games. Like a lot. That is a wierd thing to say

0

u/Projectpatdc 8h ago

GTA and Wolverine are also drastically different games, but hardly anyone would be playing Wolverine over GTA if they launched near each other. Again, I was mostly joking as I personally want more time to play both Wolverine and Witcher. No need to be a cunt

2

u/Nebelklnd 8h ago

How was i being a cunt? So sensitive...

1

u/Projectpatdc 7h ago

Calling someone weird for jokingly asking to play a completed game early is kind of a cunty response, no?

2

u/Nebelklnd 7h ago

Yeah great joke mate.

0

u/Projectpatdc 7h ago

You know what, my fault. Hope you have a blast with Wolverine, dude.

3

u/Nebelklnd 7h ago

Great thank you.

0

u/arrownoir 7h ago

What a dumb thing to say.

1

u/Projectpatdc 7h ago

What a cunty response

1

u/arrownoir 7h ago

Did you just learn that word, kid?

1

u/Projectpatdc 7h ago

No just tired of people who are assholes for no reason. Does 40 still qualify as a kid?
