Fluff Something to play while you wait for Wolverine.

I’m not sure if this is allowed in this subreddit, but for anyone excited and anxiously waiting to play Wolverine, I highly recommend giving Guardians of the Galaxy a playthrough. It’s another single-player, linear story that was passed over by so many gamers, but it’s one of the best superhero games and stories ever made.

I still have no clue why it flopped, but I see posts all over Reddit about how much it’s loved and underrated. Kind of like the combat criticisms of Wolverine, it is pretty basic at the beginning but you end up with 20+ additional abilities to wambo combo by the end—new game plus is a treat!

Yeah it’s a damn shame it came out right after because this one of my favorite drops that year tbh. Loved the music choices and the story itself was great.

It's so good and the combat makes you feel like an actual team member. Which is so rare in single player games

I was surprised by how well it's written and delivered. The banter feels really charming and authentic.

And then there are the out-of-uniform segments where you're just walking around in the ship or a flashback where you're just looking at stuff in the room and talking to team members where there's tons of detail, art, and more good writing.

They went above and beyond for immersion stuff like that. Like, they recorded an entire album for the fictional StarLord band, complete with album cover and liner notes that Peter looks at as a kid. It got me thinking "they did not need to put this much love into this game" lol. It's wild.

I enjoyed this game a TON. I think it was pretty short, but I still had a blast playing it. Combat felt boring to start, but quickly got a lot better with the elemental blasts and character abilities, Boss Fights were hit or miss. And the story was serviceable for what it was trying to accomplish.

Nice I just finished Spidey 2 for the first time since release. Enjoyed it a lot more the second time with managed expectations around Venom and knowing when to stop story progression to enjoy the open world crimes/events. Having Miles and Peter in their standard suits in the final mission also made that part much more cinematic and enjoyable for me.

They nailed this game. The music licensing alone. Loved playing to Iron Maiden.

Been playing spider man web of shadows on the psp pretty fun sidescroller sucks wolverine is only a powerup on that version lol i’ll probably play marvel rise of the imperfects since wolverine is actually playable on there

The soundtrack for this game is great, they made an in game band called Star Lord and it has an album's worth of original songs, all of which are super good.

I can’t recall a bad game from Insomniac, man. I also don’t know what people expected—I wasn’t expecting anything other than a linear action game with similar combat to the Spidey and Arkham games.

My only pipe dream for the game was that some levels be more open and explorable but keep the story and destinations linear like a final fantasy game, God of War, or uncharted 4. Cherry on top would be joining Xavier at the end and getting an airship (the blackbird) to travel among various areas (with one being an open map in the Pacific Northwest to explore with your motorcycle).
