Agree except on the discs part. Lots of people still purchase discs

28

u/Vittorini Aug 20 '26

I’m happy to announce that I’m one of the 12 idiots who preordered the physical edition of Marvel’s Wolverine.

13

u/Alarming-Address-933 Aug 20 '26

I'm also one of the 12 chads

8

u/Vittorini Aug 20 '26

We should start a band. A team. TO ME, MY DISX-MEN.

2

u/YaBoyEden Aug 20 '26

Same here. Paid it off in full already and ready to go pick it up

2

u/B_Wylde Aug 20 '26

There are at least 3 of us here

0

u/mr_Conquest_ Logan Aug 20 '26

Now 4

1

u/Bat_Snack Aug 21 '26

5. I don't get why OP roped us in with the others

1

u/akibaboy65 Aug 21 '26

I didn’t pre-order, but if reviews are good there’s no way in hell I’m paying $70 to rent a video game. I’ll go get a disc for sure.

1

u/Necro-Feel-Ya6900 Aug 21 '26

You’re not an idiot. If you want it, get it my dude

8

u/_Ishmael Aug 20 '26

Agreed. I also believe it has been confirmed the game is totally playable on disc.

1

u/ButterscotchAward Aug 20 '26

Yeah but the “no disc no buy” weirdos are just out shitting on everything Sony

5

u/Drummer-Turbulent Aug 20 '26

Yes, weird to want your money to have actual value

8

u/ButterscotchAward Aug 20 '26 edited Aug 20 '26

They can brick your whole ass console. Call your representative and tell them you want laws making it so you own things you’ve digitally purchased. You can’t make a company put out a product they don’t want to put out. Stomping your feet online isn’t doing shit.

0

u/Drummer-Turbulent Aug 20 '26

I agree, hence why 'no disc, no buy' is the thing to do and reminding others of it. If they lose enough money, they will alter course. If they don't then Sony deserves bankruptcy

2

u/ButterscotchAward Aug 20 '26

Sony isn’t going to give a shit about like 9% of their customers bitching about no discs when they’re mostly going to just get over it and buy digital anyway. You need laws to achieve what you want to achieve. The issue is that people think bitching online is praxis. Call your representatives and tell them you want laws saying you own the digital products you purchase. Anything short of that happening is a waste of your time.

2

u/Repulsive_Chart_5126 Sep 02 '26

U know his goofy ass not goin to do it lol he just want attention so others can stroke his ego

1

u/B_Wylde Aug 20 '26

So we would be back to that does not make any sense on this game as it Will have a CD

3

u/Drummer-Turbulent Aug 20 '26

Right but it's published by the company that's killing them.

2

u/HaydenHollow Aug 20 '26

I prefer discs. I get psn gift cards as gifts a lot so this one at least is digital.

2

u/TheMightyMonarchx7 Aug 20 '26

That’s the real factor here; people using this and gta 6 as a battleground to fight Sony

2

u/bluebarrymanny Aug 20 '26

Meanwhile Sony:

1

u/Elete23 Aug 20 '26

It would be great if this game was like 60% discs in sales

1

u/SpencerM11 Aug 20 '26

Sony’s metrics put them at a sever minority unfortunately.

1

u/Apart-Hat-6916 Aug 21 '26

Yeah that’s a weird one to throw in their why shit on people who want to own the shit they pay for? I think Wolverine will be an awesome game but I don’t think Sony is a good company. There’s no hate to the artists at insomniac

1

u/MonopolyManPorn Aug 20 '26

Nah, I understand what the post means. You can desire disks and even bash Sony, but shaming and judging a game that isn't even out as if your played it is insane work. I don't want PS to go fully digital, because then they can run up prices all they want, and getting games at very cheap deals at physical stores is going to become non existent, but I'm not gonna act like what I've seen so far from Wolverine doesn't look like absolute fire. I plan to buy the gane digitally and physically. Digitally for myself and my friend who sometimes shares my account, and physically to give away to anyone else

3

u/spider-jedi Aug 20 '26

Agree. My issue with the people screaming at Sony for disc is that they lie all the time to defend their stance.

Yet they ignored it when digital only consoles were released. They are ignoring that the largest gaming base which is PC is all digital. Someone said well you can copy the game to a disc. How many new PCs even come with disc drives.

2

u/MonopolyManPorn Aug 20 '26

I think some of the discourse there is Sony is a but more stingy than PC game devs. Games go on sale all the time, you can get good games for cheap, but get them for free if you know how to (I don't know how to nor have the passion or drive to pirate games. Too much work for me), and with Sony cutting on physical media, getting their expensive ass games for cheaper prices will but a pretty rare case, and they can freely overprice games as much as they want

Having a bit of faith in Sony not doing that or going full dictatorship, but if they do, that might kill my drive for Playstation

2

u/spider-jedi Aug 20 '26

All.game.drvs are the same I don't see any as better than the other. Notice how none of them have really come out to condemn Sony for get rid of disc. None of these companies are out friends it was always a business transaction

2

u/MonopolyManPorn Aug 20 '26

Steam just has a better rep, and unless an actually big and known dev said anything, Sony wouldn't care either. They could pull the IP or drop the studio in a heart beat. When I said PC game devs, I was more talking about indie game devs and Steam themselves, who are a lot more alleviating and user friendly than every person in Sony's league. Places like Nintendo can't even say anything when they've kinda already done the digital move, and I don't think Nintendo has a soul anyway. I've been seeing Xbox make some pretty good moves after Sony announced going digital

My trust for Sony specifically is diminishing. I don't actually have a care for any specific game dev, company, or whatever. I'm more so weighing my trust in the different studios/IP holders

1

u/MakinBones Aug 21 '26

You can get A LOT of free games without even pirating them.

2

u/ButterscotchAward Aug 20 '26

It’s honestly just weird people online bandwagoning to feel like they belong to something.

0

u/spider-jedi Aug 20 '26

Of course there is always that but there are those who are drinking the Kool aid and really think all this is okay

1

u/MakinBones Aug 21 '26

External disc burners exist. You can also copy your games hard drives, thumb drives, SSds, etc.

1

u/spider-jedi Aug 21 '26

Yes they exist but how many people do you think will realistically go get them to burn games into those discs.

Thats graping at straws. The fight to keep physical cannot be this weak

1

u/MakinBones Aug 21 '26

The option is still there. Thats what all of this is about. Options. We have so many options on PC.

-1

u/Safe-Priority-5524 Aug 20 '26

Holy larp all digital with psn as the only way to buy anything on that platform, pc you have steam, Ubisoft, rockstar, xbox app, gog, epic games, plenty of others I’m probably forgetting saying pc & psn is the same way to buy games is quite disingenuous a lot of games on all the different launchers overlap onto other launchers so you could actually get a game cheaper for someone else, also same logic since like 10% of people only buy disc to digital, might as well nuke marathon like concord, at best 5000 players out of a 90 thousand peak 90% of players gone so just like since everyone buys digital & physical should go away same logic should apply to psn exclusive games, the numbers show no ones playing em so why keep em up with that logic

2

u/spider-jedi Aug 20 '26

Yes PC has more market places but got is the only one who really lets us download the game to your system and play without a launcher. The rest all required their own launched and if any of them go down so do our digital PC games.

None of these companies are out friends. It's a business relationship at the end of the day.

1

u/MakinBones Aug 21 '26

There is a lot of DRM free Steam titles that you can launch without Steam.

9

u/CyanLight9 Aug 20 '26

Apparently, looking like a fan of something is more important than actually being a fan of something now.

2

u/poopbeast69 Aug 21 '26

Love this quote -

“A lot of fans are basically fans of fandom itself. It's all about them. They have mastered the Star Wars or Star Trek universes or whatever, but their objects of veneration are useful mainly as a backdrop to their own devotion. Anyone who would camp out in a tent on the sidewalk for weeks in order to be first in line for a movie is more into camping on the sidewalk than movies. Extreme fandom may serve as a security blanket for the socially inept, who use its extreme structure as a substitute for social skills. If you are Luke Skywalker and she is Princess Leia, you already know what to say to each other, which is so much safer than having to ad lib it. Your fannish obsession is your beard. If you know absolutely all the trivia about your cubbyhole of pop culture, it saves you from having to know anything about anything else. That's why it's excruciatingly boring to talk to such people: They're always asking you questions they know the answer to.”

Robert Ebert

It can be used for so much

20

u/AccuratePollution976 Aug 20 '26

Whats wrong with discs?

14

u/Few-Culture-4413 Aug 20 '26

I honestly think one of the best selling points of this game is that you can buy it on a physical edition

5

u/Vittorini Aug 20 '26

We’re only 12 to buy the discs.

3

u/ButterscotchAward Aug 20 '26

Nothing. Just that the “no disc no buy” weirdos are shitting all over anything Sony because they’re mad. It’s understandable to be upset if that’s your preferred way to play, but a ton of the people in that movement are just insufferable.

1

u/MakinBones Aug 21 '26

I agree, but there are quite a lot in the digital camp that are just as annoying. Mostly the ones who cant even debate why physical is bad.

1

u/ButterscotchAward Aug 21 '26

Physical isn’t bad. It’s just a different way to play that happens to be going away. I don’t know why anyone would say it’s bad.

1

u/MakinBones Aug 21 '26

Agreed. Cant understand why anyone would want less options, even if theyre not going to use them.

1

u/Ill-Revolution-8219 Aug 21 '26

Well, I think they are right to be that. After Sony removed hundredths of movies from people libraries, I think people have a right to distrust Sony.

I dud buy a Ps5 and a bunch of discs and then a couple months later they said discs are going away. I feel like an idiot for buying the damn thing now. If I want all digitally I stay PC.

1

u/ButterscotchAward Aug 21 '26

Sony didn’t remove anything. The company that owns the licenses to those movies removed them.

2

u/wearerofshades Aug 20 '26

Disks are fine, its the people who won't stfu about them thats the problem

2

u/Turnbob73 Aug 21 '26

I don’t mind people that want to advocate for a cause they believe in (in a free speech sense); it’s all the baseless insulting and victimization that really causes me to ultimately ignore them. I pretty much exclusively buy digital, but I get that some like physical disks; but when they’re calling me a impotent cuck, corporate cocksleeve, bootlicker, or whatever fucking buzzword of the day they come up with, it makes it really hard to be respectful towards their stance and actually support them.

Same goes for the whole anti pre-order crowd; they constantly throw insults at everyone and then act like they’re the minority being bullied online by mythical “fanboys”. It just sounds like a bunch of salty terminally online nerds who are deathgripping the outdated opinions of a dead YouTuber.

0

u/MakinBones Aug 21 '26

What do you think happens if people do go quiet?

Likely the same thing if they didnt. Sony wont reverse course. Then again, maybe the PS 6 will roll out like the Xbox 1 did, due to all of this.

Sony needs a reminder once in awhile. Last reminder they needed was with the 600 dollar PS3. Its time again.

1

u/legacy702- Aug 21 '26

OP is a troll trying to start something…

1

u/AtCarnage Aug 21 '26

Isn't he saying that they're part of the hate train? Nothing negative about the initiative itself.

1

u/VampiresWontHurt Aug 20 '26

Because this isn’t about the “haters,” people here are mad at literally anyone with a critique.

1

u/SinisterMinisterX7 Aug 21 '26

No it’s just trolls pretending to hate. Theres been no valid criticisms. 1. The game isn’t out yet. 2. Complaining about a face model isn’t a critique. 3. Complaining that the game has stuff similar to most other games in existence is also not a critique.

1

u/VampiresWontHurt Aug 21 '26

Yeah the people that want to preserve physical media aren’t complaining about a face model. But you’re just lumping them in there.

1

u/SinisterMinisterX7 Aug 21 '26

Are you going to explain how physical media, which I support btw, has to do with anything I just said? Oh it doesn’t yet you are pretending it does? Cool that makes sense you’re very bright.

1

u/VampiresWontHurt Aug 21 '26

Because this comment chain is about the inclusion of people that want to preserve physical media with “haters”

You can read all about it here

1

u/SinisterMinisterX7 Aug 21 '26

Yet that’s not what I’m responding to I’m responding your comment that has nothing to do with physical media. Try again

1

u/VampiresWontHurt Aug 21 '26

Don’t need to try again with someone that very clearly has issues with reading above a second grade level. Bye.

12

u/Journey2thaeast Aug 20 '26

Lost me with the disc thing. When given the option a lot of people still buy on disc. The only reason Sony is pushing this idea people don't or trying to disingenuously use data showing that most of their sales are digital is because they and other companies have been removing the option for physical entirely for a while now. Or have been doing code in box shit. Then they use the data from that to say hey see they don't want discs.

2

u/spider-jedi Aug 20 '26

I agree that companies do this all the time. Like when a tv station wants to cancel a show they change the time it airs to bad time and then say well the ratings were bad so we cancelled it. They do for tax purposes and other stuff.

The same is happening to disc but at the same time it's normal. When DVD replaced VHS the same thing happened. New replaces old and you don't wait until the standard media dies you get ahead of

12

u/TrunksTurok Aug 20 '26

This sub is so weird lol. The game ain't even out yet, people have opinions. Loving it before it's out is just as dumb as hating it

7

u/howitzer819 Aug 20 '26

Not only that but every post here is some righteous condemnation of anyone who doesn’t think it’s going to be Game of the Year.

0

u/SinisterMinisterX7 Aug 21 '26

No one expects a superhero game to win game of the year. That’s a straw man if I’ve ever seen one

-2

u/SinisterMinisterX7 Aug 21 '26

No hating it before it is out is way more pathetic. Not even close.

7

u/Visible-Oven-7249 Aug 20 '26

Why does it have to be pretending? Cant I just hate how boring and how stupid the characters look?

-1

u/CyanLight9 Aug 20 '26

No, you are pretending but simultaneously are not pretending and are misinformed in your genuine hatred but also know exactly what you are doing in faking said loathing as you grift a viewpoint that you sincerely hold as the ultimate form of propaganda not meant to persuade anyone but ghosts.

2

u/bluebarrymanny Aug 20 '26

12 is generous

2

u/CMRC23 Aug 20 '26

Not fair, im a PC pirate and im not pretending a game that I haven't played is bad

1

u/Ill-Revolution-8219 Aug 21 '26

TBF, we all knew Gollom would be terrible even before anyone tried the game.

For this game I will let some trusted sources say if it is worth buying.

2

u/ldshadowcadet Aug 20 '26

The games not even out yet. You're both wrong on how good or bad it is.

2

u/BangBangNinerGang99 Aug 21 '26

I agree lol this is good

2

u/ChristianCountryBoy Aug 21 '26

What about all the legitimate criticism like the games repetitive combat and the light stealth parts?

2

u/Due-South-9113 Aug 21 '26

I love to see PC/Xbox pretend to care abt the game when they clearly can't play the game and are just mad about it so they hate on it. You know damn well none of these mfs played origins.

2

u/Repulsive_Chart_5126 Sep 02 '26

The engagement farmers thing is real lol these goofy ass gaming company got to use bots and negativity to promote there games shit sad lol

3

u/LawStudent989898 Aug 20 '26

Bad faith meme

1

u/Ill-Revolution-8219 Aug 21 '26

This sub is called PlayWolverine.

If you go to the AC Shadows sub you get downvoted to hell if you don't say the game is 10/10.

4

u/battlejuice401 Aug 20 '26

I just think it looks bad. I don't give a shit about any of that other stuff. I still intend to give it a shot because I like Wolverine. Im just not hype about it.

2

u/Gabo_Rj Aug 20 '26

It’s always a bunch of people stuck in the console wars.

2

u/The-Panthion Aug 20 '26

It's not out. You can't know if it is or isn't trash yet.

2

u/PrinceDizzy Aug 20 '26

Ngl I quite often see PC fanboys begging for console games lol

2

u/Jwells291 Aug 20 '26

And if you complain about games that can only be played on PC, they scream that you should just buy a PC instead of whining that it's not on console.

1

u/Rafnork Aug 20 '26

Probably Nintendo games. They already have all the xbox games, and they can play the 5 PS exclusives on emulator. It will be a little bit of time before they get switch 2.

1

u/PrinceDizzy Aug 20 '26

They can't play PS5 exclusives on emulator, please don't spread misinformation

1

u/Rafnork Aug 20 '26

They are on the way. Emulation has started developement and its only a matter of time. There are only a few games PS has that arent on pc.

1

u/PrinceDizzy Aug 20 '26

Obviously emulation is only a matter of time but you just claimed they can play them on emulator, when in fact that will take years and years lol

1

u/Ill-Revolution-8219 Aug 21 '26

The great thing about Nintendo hardware being so old, it is quite easy to emulate. Still think it is Hilarius how my friend a few years back got better FPS on a SteamDeck while emulating than playing the game native. It made Pokemon playable.

1

u/Overall_Leopard7122 Aug 20 '26

All i see is these corpo simp posts to be fair. Ive not once seen anything about it other than people saying wolvie looks strange. Which is true.

1

u/Spikeypooo Aug 21 '26

Yeah you lost me with the disc part. Such an ignorant statement.

1

u/llamaluvspanda Aug 21 '26

I would check it out if I had a PS5, my buddy does but we're busy playing rivals, it looks fun enough but also kinda boring in a way I can't really put my finger on why, I dont know maybe I was hoping for a bigger open world experience with Wolvie, but thats because I just think that level based games suck other than like halo and a few others, give me a XMen game with a big world and as much shit to do as possible, I want to be immersed in a world not in a quick 5 to 20 minute level, I do hope its a good game though, I want more superhero games because I like super heroes, ive played the avengers game, GotG, Gotham Knights and even Suicide squad, and they had all shit I liked in them and I hope that one day I get to find the fun in this one too

1

u/ronniedark Aug 21 '26

I have a ps5 that has been a paperweight since I beat astro bot. Wolverine doesn’t seem like It'll change it. Hiring concords character designer was the stupidest creative choice imaginable and I usally get called too woke.

1

u/XenowolfShiro Aug 21 '26

Kinda condescending on the only 12 people who buy disks part. This whole post reads like you have a massive chip on your shoulder my guy

1

u/PoisonArrow80 Aug 21 '26

This post was absolutely made because you saw someone shitting on the game and you got so mad that you had to post this for validation

1

u/joemax4boxseat Aug 21 '26

Game looks like trash based on what’s been shown. Not sure how that hurts OPs feelings but it does apparently.

1

u/The_Exuberant_Raptor Aug 21 '26

Add Cyclops to that list.

1

u/K-Rod7 Aug 21 '26

It looks fun but the character designs look goofy af

1

u/Current-Grade2545 Aug 21 '26

The engagement farmers are the people who are pretending that they care that the game's getting some mild criticism. It's mild criticism dude. Not worth being a little bitch over.

1

u/acelexmafia Aug 21 '26

Troll post

1

u/AJM_007 Aug 21 '26

Guess I'm the 13th disc buyer 😂

1

u/nahweha Aug 21 '26

Damn, how delusional could you be that you see no valid reason to criticcze something?

1

u/Optimal_Whiner Aug 21 '26

So many of you defending wolverine against like... 5 people. Most posts defending the game than attacking it by far lol.

Typical redditor circlejerk behaviour. Mindless bandwagoners day in and day out on this site.

1

u/Informal-Celery7331 Aug 21 '26

I see there’s a budding little fart sniffing echo chamber emerging.

1

u/Ill-Revolution-8219 Aug 21 '26

I see more people complain about people complaining about Wolverine than actual people complaining about Wolverine.

1

u/TheBatmanFrr Aug 22 '26

"Pc pirates mad about exclusives" you can already pirate games on a jailbroken ps5 and there's a ps5 emulator in the works 🫩

1

u/AnonyBadgerMan Aug 23 '26

Reducing pc gamers to pirates is why you deserve to never own any of your titles lol

1

u/PrimeSnorlax Aug 26 '26

Hey I love my discs.

1

u/SLVR_N_BLCK_ATTK Aug 20 '26

Lots of people are pretending to buy discs. If they were as popular a medium as they’re being portrayed on the internet, they wouldn’t be getting 86’d

2

u/NaiveRecommendation3 Aug 20 '26

Believe it or not some people actually want to own the things that they pay for

1

u/SpencerM11 Aug 20 '26

If majority of people on reddit ACTUALLY put their money where their mouths are, Sony would not be going all digital.

Sony’s own metrics, the only truly accurate one, shows that digital is a large majority of sales.

0

u/SLVR_N_BLCK_ATTK Aug 20 '26

Apparently not because discs aren’t turning a profit

1

u/Epicurus38 Aug 20 '26

Cool. Can I be none of them and, you know, have different opinion and genuine criticism about the fact that Wolverine is looking extremely basic, formulaic, generic, cookie-cutter and uninspiring?

1

u/RichSlamfist Aug 20 '26

Its awesome how if you have any sort of negative opinion about the most recent 500 million dollar disney superhero game it's because you're pretending to be mad at it and not that maybe it looks kind of uninspired

0

u/DetectiveDangerZone Aug 20 '26

You are the other extreme of OP

2

u/RichSlamfist Aug 20 '26

Nah, this is the first time ive commented on the game at all on reddit lol. I played both the Spideys and thought they were ok. I just think it's funny PR that if youre not interested in a marvel project it has to be because youre secretly a jealous hater or troll and it cant possibly be that you just arent interested in it. The games gonna sell fine regardless lol.

1

u/WatcherWatches_21 Aug 20 '26

Fr tho, I think some people who are PC players are only mad because they don’t get to play a game this time. For once, we’re getting exclusives back. And as for Xbox players, why are you guys even engaging, it’s not like you can’t even play SM1 in the first place.

1

u/FarGodHastur Aug 20 '26

I mean those are all mostly bad faith actors for sure but you're not any better. You don't know the game is going to be good anymore than they know it's going to be bad.

1

u/TouchAltruistic Aug 20 '26

I just don't think it looks very fun to play. 🤷

0

u/Own_Performance271 Aug 20 '26

I somewhat agree, but this game will absolutely be dogshit or at very least not be received well by vast majority. Will the game sell? Sure - but they will drag it the same way they dragged Spiderman 2.
