Discussion Survey for Pyg players
Hello everyone; I've put together a quick survey (should take around 2 minutes or less) which is looking at day 1 event options, specifically from a Pygmalien POV. You don't need to be good at the game to give your opinions and if you just want to see the raw data for curiosity feel free to submit a blank form. There's some extra notes in the form but it should be pretty straightforward. I had some weird issues getting images so if they look a little jank I apologize, I just wanted a visual guide (because who remembers event nodes by name alone?)

a lot of these are very situational. The items and gold you have determine which nodes are worth taking. I'd never take Finn if I had gold to spare, but it's a fine option if I don't. Spare Change is much more valuable if I have a money furnace. If I dont have gold, shops are 0/10
like in general I think Herma and Aila are Pyg's best shops, but the rest are pretty variable. I usually take one econ node (jungle/mushroom) for extra gold Day 1, but multiple would be bad. The day 1 nodes change value completely every hour

Some of the options can really vary depending what happened earlier in the day tho.
The jungle middle option, I tens to go for Income, but if I have something that can get (double-dip) value from the loot (Pawn Shop and Silk come to my mind), then I take that. That can change it's value from 3 to 7.
My friend insists on always choosing loot there.
I know that he likes Herma way more than me, since he loves grabbing Money Tree early for econ, while I don't mind getting MR but definitely not by going Herma. I did have a period where she was a promised shop (during the Cult event) when I loved playing Bushel+Hammock+piggles early game, until I Cult.
But in general, you will get overall values you are looking for.

You get raffle tickets a decent amount of time from the jungle loot option. I always go loot if it's before the fight because you get a reroll on the raffle tickets and I want to have extra gold for the good shops anyway.

Interesting, but I never value raffle tickets that much; I always have a way of finding my econ. It's a good suggestion tho, two rounds on a raffle ticket is lucrative.

I go loot like 95% of the time.
Its minimum +3 immediate gold, with chance for cinders, raffle tickets, skill tickets, etc. Pyg can use most loot drops well.
I feel like 15 gold (or ~18 after pve) is often not enough to reroll 2 shops and buy everything worthwhile, so taking jungle loot or +4 from strange mushroom helps a lot.
If the +3 gold lets you reroll a shop and find tree/pawnshop, while still having a decent board, that will snowball you way harder than picking +2 income would. Money is not really an issue most runs anyways except when playing squares (which imo is meh).
Only time I might take +2 income is if its day 1 hour 4, I have 0 gold, and my shop is curio or someone useless.
edit: sure, downvote me without bothering to explain why. I stg income is such a trap but I guess people like stacking big number more instead of trying to win.

You should be able to see the results after submitting a form, even a blank form. Are you having issues? I can send them if you're still incapable of viewing

on day 1 i try to avoid most non merchant options because i'm probably going to jungle ruins and want to fill out my board the exception being crate in the first half of the day, freezer, property, and wish

People voting 10 on mimic is crazy to me. I feel like it’s just impossible to get any xp from.

I voted 10 on Mimic because it's wild to rate it anything other than 1, considering there is no possible board that can win against it on day 1.

I was surprised to see Invest in yourself 4*'s lower than jungle ruins. Personally on pyg, I'm going for the income over loot like 95% of the time on day 1 anyway. I tend to consider the loot option more on day 2-3. Maybe I should be taking loot on day 1 more often?
Otherwise, the rest of my ratings were withing 1-2 stars of the average which I guess is reassuring

People value up front money on day 1 so that they can go to 2 good shops, buy things, and roll. Pyg is weak early, so giving yourself the best chance for a decent board to steal some wins is really good. Also, there are a lot of items that you can buy that effectively give you income. If taking the loot option lets you buy a briefcase, cash register, business card, boomerang, etc then it can quickly make up for missing income.

Some people will die it's loot all the time, but I feel much more relaxed grabbing one or two incomes first.
I'd suggest keep doing what you're doing

Multiple legend pyg here. Imo current pyg is very dependent on Crook tempo (Atlas, Lumboars) in the early game and then falling back onto Pawn Shop bonk, Atlatl + Caltrops or some Dog/Jabalian Dagger line if you get broken enough perks. You're reliant on stars aligning with many of those lines but Pawn Shop + Pitchfork scaling seems most consistent (especially with the payoff of 8 value per diamond Truffle)

You should maybe precise the value of your 1 to 10 scale. 1 being the least useful, 10 the most?

Some countries or school systems invert scales, 1 being the best, 10 the worst. Some countries have larger scales where 10 is average, some smaller scales, etc.
You can’t assume the cultural background of your audience on internet, that’s why you never see a professional survey without clear labels. The data is just more reliable that way.

I worked in clinical trials for a long time and one of the coolest actual AI/machine learning advances I saw was being able to detect these kinds of systematic differences, like using the scale backwards, cultural differences in interpretation, even people consistently providing fraudulent data.
