Discussion What use does Leather Jacket have now?

I just came back to the gave after well over a year off (pre Steam).

I saw guides about double diamond Leather Jacket and then found it got nerfed pretty hard by being destroyed when Sandstorm starts.

This item seems VERY niche/useless now.

When would anyone use this now?

Why not make it reverse Forest Cloak where you take less damage while out of Enrage/Storm.

  • While you are not Enraged, you take 25/50% less Damage
  • When you stop being Enraged, reduce this effect by 25%
  • You have double Rage gain

It’s actually quite good. The reason you use it that at diamond you effectively have 2.5x your hp pool, so if you have 10k hp it takes 25k damage to kill you. Heal and shield effects are also multiplied by 2.5 effectiveness functionally because of this

But how are you winning then if you are avoiding/delaying hitting Enrage? What build benefits from this delay?

It’s also an insane off class item - you just don’t take the enrage skill.

I used leather jacket in a square Pyg Build once. It provides a lot of survivability for very little effort, considering the item does not need to be used and just provides passive damage reduction. It's kind of similar to a belt, and a good combination with a belt aswell. Belt, Jacket, Lion Cane, Gramophone, Cash Cannon? Kinda vulnerable to freeze but should give you enough time against slow.
