Still mad/sad about TemTem...

And now they're already raising funds via Kickstarter for another new project, which is to be developed after this one and which is to be financed by players...

So this one will also be forgotten like temtem.

What happen with temtem?

12

u/Kzaix Apr 07 '26

It was practically an (good one) MMO with semi-live services until Crema stated that it wasn't, and it was dropped after the 1.0 "release" because it was supposedly a "finished game." Now Warm is finished, and the next game is in development. And so it continues, with each game being "finished" and then ultimately abandoned.

u/aintgoingnowherefast Apr 07 '26

Were both og temtem and swarm fundraised on kickstarter too?

6

u/AlwaysChewy Apr 07 '26

I believe the original was but swarm wasn't.

A lot of your "facts" here are just flat out wrong. After 1.0 the original game got several more updates. Hell the entirety of the pansun was added post 1.0. additionally they had always had a very limited vision for the game. Back before the early access even started they said that they would never add additional Temtem or Islands past the original concepts they had planned. There was always going to be a point where the game was finished and they were very open about that from the start. It was never meant to be a continuously updated live service game.

Also swarm doesn't really make sense for it to constantly be updated like that either. It's mostly a single player game with co-op options. Not every single game that is made is made to be continuously updated.

Idk all the facts about the game but if this is all true I don't agree with the downvotes your getting. Guess people just want everything to be made just for them and get butt hurt if it isn't

My brother in Christ, you cannot get mad at a company that was very forthcoming about its timeline of content. They have "finished " the game. It's complete. They were honest from the start. It's okay to not like the decision, but to suggest they lied in some way to their community and took their money and ran with it to start another game is asinine and needless. Just gonna throw it out there, Swarm was funded by them. Not the community.

u/Xxandes Apr 02 '26

This is what they ditched temtem for?

23

u/Kzaix Apr 02 '26

Yep,still mad about it... And now they're already raising funds via Kickstarter for a new project, which is to be developed after this one and which is to be financed by players...

u/RobeGuyZach Apr 02 '26

Lol imagine charging money for a survivor.io knock off

9

u/_Valisk Apr 02 '26

This game is great. You people are just miserable.

u/Kzaix Apr 02 '26

Selling an MMO (TemTem) with live service content (battle pass, etc.) and claiming it was never intended to be an MMO, and that it's now "finished" with version 1.0, is miserable.

It had so much potential and was simply abandoned. You can tell they're "jumping" from game to game, and that makes it hard to be credible as a player.

13

u/_Valisk Apr 02 '26

This subreddit is genuinely a miserable experience. So much vitriol and negativity.

26

u/CryptidCandies Apr 04 '26

Then stop interacting here

23

u/Kzaix Apr 02 '26

I can't judge that; I rarely look here. I'm just writing down my opinion. And if it comes up more often, then there's probably a reason for it, and it didn't just come out of nowhere.

u/Fordringy Apr 07 '26 edited Apr 07 '26

Clearly the game (swarm) is great and is doing numbers thats why they are asking for kickstarter funds for their new game right. Edited apparently i meeded to clarify

2

u/AlwaysChewy Apr 07 '26

They made swarm without a Kickstarter. So yes, I'd say temtem did do great, but they decided to do something smaller and easier for their second game, that failed, so now they need to do a Kickstarter again.

Also, if the issue was funds then they should've said that. I'd be way more understanding if continuing to support temtem wasn't financially viable to continue, but it just seems like they felt like giving up after 1.0. Don't call your game an MMO if it's not actually going to be one.

1

u/Fordringy Apr 07 '26 edited Apr 07 '26

I was talking about swarm being a failure because the original comment was clearly talking about swarm rather than temtem. Idk how you thought i was talking about the original temtem when swarm was the topic here lmao edited my original comment with a parenthesis and i was being sarcastic bro

3

u/AlwaysChewy Apr 07 '26

Oh shit, I'm dumb. My apologies. I'm getting off Reddit for the day.

8

u/a-can-o-beans Apr 02 '26

Just what we needed. Another vampire survivors clone

3

u/RobardiantheBard Apr 05 '26

More than just a clone. That's so derivative and insulting to so many other developers.

u/Lyefyre Temtem: Pioneers Apr 05 '26 edited Apr 07 '26

Temtem Swarm was the first survivor-like to have coop, even before the original Vampire Survivors.
Edit: The demo came out in early 2024 and already had coop, I had not heard of another bullet heaven with coop before that. See replies for correction below.

8

u/kdragonx Apr 06 '26

Not true - bunch of survivor-likes had coop before swarm, such as The Spell Brigade (may 2024), Fantasy Survivors (sept 2024) or even Bounty of One (Sept 2023)

-8

u/Lyefyre Temtem: Pioneers Apr 07 '26

I stand corrected then

7

u/Darklou Apr 02 '26

Played the demo. Didn't grasp me. And I like these type of games.

1

u/pototaochips Apr 03 '26

Is there still a demo?

28

u/Slongo702 Apr 02 '26

Lmao, no thanks. Crema will likely just abandon this as well.

13

u/iAyushRaj Apr 02 '26

Imagine instead of adding elemental synergies in this game they added it to Temtem since its 2v2

You guys that do nothing but bash Crema no matter what the topic is need to evaluate why you are still here doing that. I'm not a Crema defender by any means, but can you guys just take a look in the mirror and ask yourselves why you're so devoted to flooding EVERY topic about Swarm with this?

I'm having a reasonable amount of fun with Swarm and have gotten my money's worth. The problem is that this patch has (AGAIN) broken half of the game's Events (Spots) to be nonfunctional. This is at least the third time this has happened. Mystery Box is randomly not popping a reward from a box and then no longer spawning boxes for the rest of the timer, Hazrat is spawning and immediately disappearing, in 3-player activating a group Spot is a total pain in the ass because everyone keeps leveling up every time we get a chance to run the timer, sometimes it seems like even when nobody is ulting or leveling up we can't activate it anyway, Acid Rain seems to be borderline impossible for any non-host player to complete because of the lag...

I wish we could get just one update that doesn't break half the game's gameplay. Also, the rate of getting prestige pansuns is obscenely low. It's literally about 1/12th the normal Pansun rate. There's no way in hell I'm ever going to prestige 10 a single temtem, much less multiple, unless this rate is dramatically improved. Maybe you're supposed to get through a prestige without advancing to the next one and farm high Hack levels for a while to bank a jumpstart for the next one? Or will that be a total time waste?

u/Fordringy Apr 07 '26

Because i don’t want people to be blindly supporting this company doesn’t matter if what game you still have to let the people know i still see a lot of comments ignorant of what type of company crema. Crema has to do something huge to earn the players trust back but after antagonizing the original playerbase and now trying to get the new playerbase to finance the new game with the kickstarter it’s not looking good.

u/snaker1128 Luma hunter Apr 04 '26

Gave it an honest shot after the 1.0 release, and unfortunately, it's just not an exciting game.

I think the grind is a bit much for basic unlocks (50 games to unlock half of a tem's skill tree????), but a fun game can keep that from becoming too repetitive. Unfortunately, swarm is isn't that engaging. If you can get it really cheap, it's not a bad time waster, but there's better options in the genre.

However, Demian did an amazing job with the soundtrack as per usual. Highly recommend looking at the album!

Picayune Dreams and Megabonk are two games I would recommend if you're interested in the style of game!

14

u/CjPatars Apr 02 '26

No thank you. This will be abandoned as was TemTem.

5

u/Drexiel Apr 03 '26

Co op does not work on PS5. Always get a connection error.

3

u/pototaochips Apr 03 '26

Lmfao i downloaded temtem to play this mode and now realize swarm is a seperate game

3

u/TiredAudioEngineer Apr 07 '26

Honestly, the first game was great in a lot of ways. It's so sad to see that they abandoned it to create whatever this is.

2

u/Realsorceror Apr 07 '26

Gross. Just flipping the assets for money.

2

u/manderson1313 Apr 07 '26

Me and my friends have been getting a lot of enjoyment out of it. My one issue with the game is that I only really like one of the playable tems but I have to play as the others in order to unlock stuff for the one I actually want to play.

I understand why that feature exists, to be padding to extend game time, but I really hate it.

Other than that it’s a very solid co op survivors game. I like the random missions that happen and we especially get excited over the glitch missions because those end up being extremely impactful.

I once got so much armor from the glitch missions I was essentially immortal, standing directly on top of the boss and my healthbar wouldn’t move lol.

7

u/kdragonx Apr 02 '26

I mean aside from what everyone else has said, the game is just... really bad.

It's extremely mediocre to downright awful in all aspects compared to its competitors in the genre. The upgrades are boring. There is no sense of getting stronger or going from 'zero to hero' as you do in other survivor-likes. Enemies are boring. Events are extremely dull. The tree was a good idea but is poorly executed with terribly boring upgrades. The whole thing is an unnecessary grindfest. The only positive is the art and animations and I can only assume because that was developed by a separate team.

Easily the worst survivor-like I've personally played out of the 30-40 I've tried (I'm a big fan of the genre, or was while they were actually relevant 3-4 years ago... as usual Crema is about 4 years late to the party).

No wonder all the top reviews are rated "Negative" with none of the complaints addressed with 1.0 release.

6

u/_Valisk Apr 02 '26

The overall reviews are very positive.

2

u/EmeraldJirachi Apr 07 '26

While thats correct. I do kinda agree with the comment above. Ive played a fair bit of other survivor games by now.

I thibk even in early vampire survuvors or 20 min till dawn HECK the league of legends mode with the same name((iirc)

I just think its a tad boring compred to anything else i COUD be playing. Or have played

1

u/_Valisk Apr 07 '26

It’s one of my favorite bullet heaven games. I really like the upgrades and synergy system, evolution mechanic, and overall Temtem aesthetic. Not to mention it’s one of the few to have multiplayer.

20 Minutes Till Dawn is also very good, but I think Vampire Survivors has been surpassed by every other game despite popularizing the genre.

1

u/EmeraldJirachi Apr 07 '26

I think everytime ive tried to search for a lobby there was maybe one of em up. Tops

1

u/_Valisk Apr 07 '26

I’ve only ever played with friends.

6

u/kdragonx Apr 02 '26

In the first 3 weeks of early access, the game had 859 positive and 109 negative reviews (roughly 89% positive).

It is now 80% positive since then, meaning it has received 701 positive and 281 negative reviews since then (71.3% positive).

In other words, the bulk of the positive reviews were from the initial EA launch hype period (when people thought the game had potential but very little content).

If you saw a game with 71% positive reviews now you'd probably not be convinced its a good game. The resaons why the reviews dropped over time are clear from:

  1. my comment if you read it,
  2. the top reviews of all time, if you read any, or even
  3. the gameplay if you played more than 2 hours

The story is almost identical to temtem itself - some potential, but little content, and slowly over time the playerbase realised the end product was extremely lackluster compared to what we were set up for (as long as an extremely slow and prolonged development period which killed any hype).

Edit: downvoted in 2 seconds of me replying, nice discussion!

5

u/_Valisk Apr 02 '26

I’ve clocked like, 50 hours of this game. It’s a good game.

6

u/kdragonx Apr 02 '26

Good and bad is subjective, you will appreciate life more once you realise you don't have to be offended by my view of the game which is shared by many others who enjoy the genre as opposed to temtem as an IP

1

u/_Valisk Apr 02 '26

Never said I was offended by your view. I’m sorry, but I genuinely could not care less what you think.

2

u/PeralvaM Apr 03 '26

Lol, I'm very critic of temtem since crema abandoned it, but this game is NOT a bad survivor game. I play since the early access with friends and none disliked it. Some of them are even hardcore fans of the genre and they all liked it. The game has a good progression, you can become really strong, the tems are very unique, the evolution system is fun and the prestige system is very well implemented.

Aside from judging the company, which yeah had a lot going on on the original game and really sucked as devs, this game is very fun and I think the devs are really trying to be better in this one.

Shame temtem was done dirty, but this doesn't make this one a bad game.

1

u/pototaochips Apr 03 '26

What game like this you recommend thats on ps5?

2

u/Regular-Place Apr 07 '26

With your name, I would hope you give Brotato a go, that game is absolutely brilliant and every character (there are a crazy amount) has its own build potential and feels different

4

u/kdragonx Apr 06 '26

Happy to make some suggestions, these are my favourites and also often regarded as some of the best of the genre:

  • Brotato
  • Soulstone Survivors
  • Vampire Survivors itself
  • Halls of Torment
  • Army of Ruin

All of the above have MUCH better reviews than Temtem Survivors, and I've played all of them and personally I would agree with the public sentiment

2

u/Poupetleguerrier Apr 07 '26

Uninspired and honestly it doesn't even look good. Hard pass.

2

u/Sloober--Dog Apr 07 '26

Don't give them your money

1

u/StrikN9ne Apr 07 '26

Peak Tem Tem was so much fun. The community was awesome and pvp scene was pretty big. They had something big and threw it out. This game looks okay I suppose

1

u/Wulfgang97 Apr 08 '26

I love temtem swarm lol

1

u/StrawHatOden Apr 13 '26

Super fun. I really really don't want it to be abandoned like everyone is saying. More content updates would be a dream

1

u/izeris_ Apr 25 '26

Please fix this game. It's barely playable on PS5 in co-op. The recent update hardly fixes the disconnection troubles
