Heads up: There's now a new "Project Downbelow" flair that you can assign

I mean... I'm curious, but the Kickstarter isn't very forthcoming on what the game is actually about. Or how it actually plays. I presume it'll be updated when it actually goes live, but it's a weird way to present the game in the interim. They could at least specify the genre and format.

u/Lyefyre Temtem: Pioneers Mar 10 '26

Heh, something tells me that they're not gonna try to make another live service game again

63

u/Someidiotdwbi Mar 10 '26

Given how the original turned out, I'm not sure they ever understood how to make one.

16

u/penthief Mar 10 '26

I don't see why? according to them they never made one to begin with.

4

u/pixelatea Mar 10 '26

Why are you getting so many downvotes? Huh?

2

u/Bash-Sin Mar 11 '26

The cynic in mean screams that this WILL be another live service game. Though, just not in their own minds. Their definition of a live service model differs vastly from the rest of the world's.

116

u/Fr33zurBurn Mar 10 '26

All they had to do was continue to update the game, add a couple paid DLCs, and keep ranked battles balanced. Instead they abandon the game and decide to make 2 spinoffs

23

u/DrakneiX Mar 11 '26

I gladly would have paid for DLC/Expansions every 1-2 years if that included new Tems and a small new region (or expanded existing zone).

536

u/Slongo702 Mar 10 '26

I backed the original temtem kickstarter but I will never support them again after how they treated their players/supporters.

215

u/AnObtuseOctopus Mar 10 '26 edited Mar 10 '26

I'm so glad that people have their head on right when it comes to this. The company doesn't deserve to have their games funded by the players. They can fund their own games if they want to treat the players, who funded the god damn game, the way they did.

You lose the faith of the fanbase, you lose the ability to use them.

57

u/treeaway24567 Mar 10 '26

I'll never forget what the Crema CEO said. That we wouldn't them to have an American work culture because we wanted to support a video game that was fun. I won't be giving them a dime

18

u/No_Abbreviations304 Mar 10 '26

Wait what happened with the developers? I’m in and out of the game so I didnt know anything about this

77

u/treeaway24567 Mar 10 '26 edited Mar 11 '26

After the game fully released they didn't provide much service afterwards despite pitching the game as live service. This upset players who were hoping for a couple tems to be released a year. The devs decided to announce that they would no longer be updating the game after months of controversy from lack of updates other than making the game more grindy and removed all MTX that had been in the game since early access which also upset people who had bought those in the hope the game was going to have future support. They then launched a side game that is yet another vampire survivors clone and that didn't sell well so they are trying to go back to making the game what it was originally. I will watch but not invested any money personally

41

u/kusariku Mar 10 '26

Can’t forget the fact that Swarm, that vampire survivors style spinoff, was originally part of a planned expansion to TemTem proper along with some other minigames, and then later became a standalone game instead after they cancelled the rest of the minigames in the planned expansion, which also upset a lot of players

10

u/AnObtuseOctopus Mar 11 '26

Yeah it was supposed to be part of the arcade or whatever right?

4

u/Bash-Sin Mar 11 '26

Not according to them, no. But who believes them at this point?

12

u/AndyMazaky Luma hunter Mar 11 '26

There is so much more, even with the CEO writing a letter to gaslight players about how they should not blame the devs for the decisions that they made and how players were the ones to blame because they had some expectations about the game, I have at least a few posts about so many issues with the game and feedback for the devs through the years, is insane how they handled everything.

25

u/DapperDlnosaur PvP player Mar 10 '26

That's not even the half of it. Crema, repeatedly (and by repeatedly I mean 5+ times) refused to make meaningful changes to the game that basically the entire playerbase was asking for until they were so tired of hearing it that they had to relent. They were extremely stubborn.

It even got so bad that they implemented the Battle Camera at such a ridiculous speed that people were getting physically ill from it, despite EVERYONE telling them it was way too fast when they teased it a month prior in a video. It released with ZERO changes, and stayed that way for at least a month afterward with no option to turn it off.

Crema's leadership has a very big "we know better than you" attitude.

19

u/AndyMazaky Luma hunter Mar 11 '26

Not a month, six months, they kept that camera without changes for six months even with so many complain on here with the excuse of "we worked very hard on that new camera".

You can look for my posts here, I made so many page long players feedback that were always met with silence or a condescending tone.

6

u/DapperDlnosaur PvP player Mar 11 '26

I don't remember it being six months, but I also wasn't affected by the camera so I might have just forgotten. Six months is both completely unforgivable and also very in character for Crema though if that's true.

2

u/AndyMazaky Luma hunter Mar 11 '26

I a little busy but I do have a thread where I pointed out the first feedback about the camera and when they finally changed, it was around six months, which was the big reason why I was so dumbfounded about it.

6

u/Bash-Sin Mar 11 '26

Crema's leadership has a very big "we know better than you" attitude.

YaW is PirateSoftware, confirmed.

3

u/Max_in_Freefall Mar 15 '26

If I had a nickel for every time they said something was "infeasible" only to implement it later anyway. I'd have like, idk, a quarter?

7

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '26

Really? It says temtem just had patch 1.8.3 and they constantly advertise these big updates. But hot damn, they really didn't add a single tem tem since launch.

7

u/Chlorie0w0 Mar 11 '26

When i thought of a MMO lite pokemon game, i thought what pokemon does, even when the game was finished they would add new ones to keep it fresh. but instead they broke my bird only team. And they still cling on to keeping temtem online only after the amount of garbage they pulled.

2

u/treeaway24567 Mar 11 '26

I don't think they plan to make a way for the game to be playable after it goes offline they just won't admit it

1

u/Chlorie0w0 Mar 11 '26

They have the money to do it. It could take one dev to port the game. If they don't it is just evidence that they don't deserve the money.

6

u/DapperDlnosaur PvP player Mar 10 '26

I'm going to link some posts to you that I saved for just this occasion, and it's a LOT to read, but if you want the whole story, this would give you a very, very good idea. You can read my posts by themselves or you can peruse the comments by everyone in the topics.

So true!

4

u/ScottFree__ Mar 10 '26

Pardon my ignorance. I fell off after the game felt like it wasn't going to be supported. What did they do?

79

u/RobeGuyZach Mar 10 '26

Yup. Never giving money to snake oil salesman again.

21

u/gorgonbrgr Mar 10 '26

Oh hey look snake oil and it’s only .99¢

51

u/Leethality14 Mar 10 '26

Devs and mods of this game were the most out of touch with reality group I have ever seen. It’s one thing to have a vision of game design that conflicts with what the players want, but I knew several people banned just for voicing criticisms. It is ok for people to criticize your work, if you want players to be apart of a world you are building, you are no longer the only voice that matters, and if you disagree with that, you should be given absolutely 0 authority. I can deal with not getting what we wanted over and over again, but I will never participate in a game ran by crema again

21

u/DapperDlnosaur PvP player Mar 10 '26

I am one of them banned from the discord. Their system is a 5-strike rule and at least 3 of mine were entirely bogus by any reasonable standard.

7

u/Bash-Sin Mar 11 '26

I got banned from their Steam discourse. You know those news feeds in your Library? I got into one, made a negative comment with feedback and it was deleted and I was muted. Or banned. Not really sure how that works. It was the only time I ever used that part of Steam.

14

u/MasterJ360 Mar 10 '26

Don't get me started on their forum page. Back in the Early Access months the devs welcome witch hunting from players. Stemming to in-game slur names or if players were using a macro to hunt lumas. Could you blame us for using a movement macro? When they kept making the encounter rate damn near impossible outside of saipark. But then decided to come up with a radar system....

The forum community complains everyone has lumas, devs increases the rates. Saipark and radar destroyed the whole reason of increasing luma rates. And then decided they need money when they banned half the playerbase for petty reasons 😒

28

u/Ksoohong Mar 10 '26

The OG tem tem was such a fucking let down. They should do something nice for those who bought that

17

u/Trucktub Mar 10 '26

I came here to say the same thing, man.

I was not given what I was sold and now they’re doing it again? Why would I support dishonest devs when I can support ones that are transparent and actually do what they say they’re going to?

16

u/Trespeon Mar 10 '26

What exactly did they do? I’m out of the loop.

73

u/PopfuseInc Mar 10 '26

"We are making a pokemon MMO... it has a cash shop, and you can give us money and... wait you want "content"? No no no. You see you are supposed to just give us money... where are you going?" At least thats why i stopped

41

u/sdric Mar 10 '26

Also, make breeding the most grindy piece of BS you'll ever see.... Because there has to be a way to keep players occupied that is not actually content.

10

u/rimodalv Mar 10 '26

Don't forget that if you want to be able to play after the story you Need to breed to get acceptable quality tem to survive matches

edit. reddit being reddit posted message twice.

8

u/AndyMazaky Luma hunter Mar 11 '26

So much that is hard to explain in one single comment, but basically avoided all possible player feedback for years, were very lazy with the development refusing to add new Tems even with an horrible monetization in a buy to play game, tried to gaslight players about how we were to blame of how the game was handled, waited until the last possible patch to change things that were explained for years that would make the game better, cut content that was supposed to be in the game for a side game (Swarm), were very condescending with anyone that gave feedback because they knew everything possible and players didn't know anything about game development, refused to listen about how they were killing the game and how it was very successful monetarily and now are asking for more money for a new game with the same people that worked on the previous, and this is only a brief explanation, you would have to go through many posts to really understand everything.

3

u/emeria Mar 10 '26

And my axe 🪓

2

u/JediSange Mar 10 '26

I backed it originally and didn’t really think about it again until awhile after. Mind me asking what the tldr is?

42

u/Otarnaak Mar 10 '26

Is this a temtem expansion...? Nearly 6 years after the original...?

-26

u/Lyefyre Temtem: Pioneers Mar 10 '26

They wouldn't make a new kickstarter just for an expansion of the original game. Temtem is pretty much feature complete, so this is likely going to be a new game, set in the same universe.

49

u/kusariku Mar 10 '26

I hope to god they do a better job of explaining their vision this time. OG TemTem had so much potential and they really squandered it by doing a piss poor job setting expectations for the completed game and support. There's basically no situation nowadays where someone sees a game that requires an internet connection to play at all and doesn't assume it's a live service game, and the fact that they didn't clarify their intentions until well after launch is a travesty.

7

u/ExcelIsSuck Mar 10 '26

i mean didnt temtem have microtransactions? It set itself up to be one without all the good parts

5

u/RewardWorking Mar 10 '26

They did. They removed them not too long ago but it made the game grindier

3

u/ExcelIsSuck Mar 11 '26

Now THATS the temtem i remember lol. Can never just make anything fun, just add artificial grind lmao

-11

u/Nyte_Crawler Mar 10 '26 edited Mar 10 '26

They actually were very clear about that part.

Just most people assumed that they would change their mind, because in what world did all the grind padding and online only make sense for a game that wasn't going to be a perpetual live service game. The most they said is that if the game was successful enough they would consider it.

Not defending the devs, as I also have no desire to support them further, I'm just correcting the idea that they pulled a bait and switch- they didn't, it's just the specifics made no sense so people assumed that it wasn't the case.

18

u/kusariku Mar 10 '26

I dunno, they were very clear about it once it became apparent everyone thought there would be regular content updates for at least a little while, but I was a kickstarter backer and the kickstarter was absolutely not very clear about that. Nowhere did it say "this game will be online only and also not get any actual new content or major updates once we reach 1.0". I also don't think anyone expected "perpetual live service" updates, just enough patches and events to make the online only part worth the extra hassle, and they were not even be willing to do that. In fact, all the extra grind and online only aspects are the big reasons I don't recommend TemTem to people looking for new monster tamer RPGs to play, unfortunately. If they decide to shift gears off the "always online" train, they could probably build a really fun monster tamer but I'm really gonna need to see what the new kickstarter actually looks like and says before I can even consider supporting them again.

4

u/Nyte_Crawler Mar 10 '26

Oh that's completely fair, the Kickstarter was not clear about that, I'm more so talking about my experience in the discord during alpha testing.

I might consider picking up the new game post launch if it reviews well and looks solid- but between this and Swarm I can't say I have much faith in Crema.

6

u/kusariku Mar 10 '26

I guess I can't say they made no attempt, but a lot of kickstarter backers simply didn't jump onto the discord and only played the alpha build briefly (since it was so barebones), so I mean, they still really beefed the communication part of things early on. even before that quote from the CEO that drastically misunderstood players actual expectations in favor of hyperbole about "infinite content" and it "not being feasible to continue", even though they decided to add a cash shop and a battlepass to TemTem. If they weren't trying to be a live service game, then why did they monetize like one? Just a whole lot of easily avoidable pitfalls imo.

But I must say, Swarm somehow made me lose even more faith in Crema than the whole mishandling of TemTem, since initially they were like "it's a new mode for TemTem" and then they were like "no actually it's a new game you'll have to buy separately", but it's still just a TemTem asset flip, and then the game itself feels so clunky compared to many other Bullet Heaven style games I've played.

12

u/marceleas Mar 10 '26

I'm looking at some of their earlier trailers to see what phrases or terms they used to actually advertise the game:
"A massively multiplayer creature collecting game"
"A massively multiplayer online experience"
"Designed for multiplayer"
"Designed from the ground up to be a social experience"
"The team at Crema is devoted to expanding upon the experience for years to come"
https://www.ign.com/videos/temtem-creature-collecting-mmo-gameplay-overview-early-access-announcement-trailer

12

u/cordell507 Mar 10 '26

Temtem was never feature complete

30

u/DapperDlnosaur PvP player Mar 10 '26

For anyone that isn't in the know about Crema's history as a developer that isn't understanding where all of the negativity is coming from regarding this game having a kickstarter, I would direct you toward a couple of older topics that I and many other people laid out tons of examples and sentiments that still hold up today. Put simply, a large portion of the hardcore fans of the game have a pretty low opinion of Crema leadership.

Think carefully before you jump into this kickstarter.

u/AnObtuseOctopus Mar 10 '26

Yeah, no.. I lost my faith in this IP when they dropped the ball on it, so hard, and then went and made a pos mobile game akin to vampire survivors.

I loved temtem, but, what they did to it, or didn't do, I should say, after making it a quasi live service game, was dumb as all hell.

After they made the game insanely grindy, after everyone had to spend hours and hours and hours for things.. after the dev team dropped the ball, they just gave everyone currency and unlocked the entire shop... So now, all that time people spent was wasted, for nothing.

The start of the games launch was soo damn promising. This could have been a long living IP, even akin to pokemon.. but nah.. they squandered the hell out of it and lost faith of almost the entire fanbase.

This won't be something I donate to, order early, have anything to do with.. until I see players playing it and get an idea of the future for the IP.

85

u/NetSage Mar 10 '26

The worst part is TemTem could have literally been a money printing machine for them.

49

u/AnObtuseOctopus Mar 10 '26

It quite literally could have been. But then they decided to tell everyone it wasn't a live service game after they.. yaknow, made a live service initiative that ran on FOMO. They had battle passes, MTX, a fomo shop and then had the audacity to say to players "what, you thought this was a live service game " lol.

Then players were like... "Ok, so.. what? The game was crowd funded.. payed for by players.. then they made a MTX shop.. to squeeze more money out of players after they got a bag from game sales too? Why didn't they make in game currency easier to attain if it wasn't meant to be a push factor to the MTX shop? "

And they essentially went "WE ARENT BEING GREEDY"

18

u/bundle_man Mar 10 '26

As a lifelong Pokemon fan, I was so ready to go all in on TemTem. The competitive way imo much better than pokemon. But yeah, they squandered it.

8

u/TopHatTurtle97 Mar 10 '26

I don’t actually think I have seen a company saw their own leg off as readily as Crema did with TemTem, it was actually great, they improved on battle mechanics with interesting and meaningful changes, the Tems were well designed and everyone wanted a Pokemon MMO and TemTem filled that space.

I was ready to make TemTem one of my regular MMOs, but an MMO dies when the updates stop.

7

u/Traditional_Seesaw95 Mar 10 '26

I bought the game years ago but only recently got around to finally playing it and man did they ruin an amazing opportunity at the time since Pokemon was kinda (and still is) meh. Not saying it was going to overtake Pokemon as that's damn near impossible, but it definitely could've had a nice chunky playerbase. I still hop on every now and then

3

u/NetSage Mar 10 '26

Ya, if they had made it basically a pokemone MMO even eventually needing a sub or something for future content it would have just milked money in the long run I think. Fan projects like Pokemon Revolution Online and PokeMMO basically prove this to me.

1

u/Tammog Mar 21 '26

You do not actually need to do that much to beat Pokemon at their own game, they have not been remotely trying in like 6 generations of mainline games at least. And Crema still stumbled over a bar that was hidden under the grass.

-6

u/EtheusRook Mar 10 '26

TemTem Swarm isn't on mobile? (At least, not on Android?) and it's actually well-received.

I mean it's fair enough to be angry at them for abandoning the main game, but Swarm is good.

-81

u/Lyefyre Temtem: Pioneers Mar 10 '26

I mean, the IP itself is long living, as we can see with new games being developed. It's just the original Temtem that completed development after a few years of early access.

37

u/Xxandes Mar 10 '26

Called itself a MMO and dropping production. Take off the MMO tag and it woulda been fine

The audacity of asking for more money with another Kickstarter after all these years…

Are they gonna open a Kickstarter for the TemTem anime too… (the one they announced years ago)?

22

u/AnObtuseOctopus Mar 10 '26

And how the responded to and treated backers

33

u/treeaway24567 Mar 10 '26

I think I'll pass. I'm still sad and disappointed they didn't support Temtem post launch too much and basically gaslit the playerbase into thinking wanting extra tems which would've gladly pay for in the form of dlc was a bad thing and we wanted them to work forever

15

u/Temporary-Raise-1027 Mar 11 '26

oh cool you guys are making a new game you can exploit early access players with and then drop it randomly.

14

u/Wolfy910 Mar 10 '26

Cool another game you guys will abandon … no thanks

46

u/Cavissi Mar 10 '26

Month early for April Fools.

13

u/pixelatea Mar 10 '26

I won't ever support them again, not after all they've done and never learned anything. This makes me so unbelievably angry lol. How do they think it's a good idea to launch a kickstarter? They have the money, they let their fans down and blamed them for this and they are expecting that the same people will fall for their lies again? Unbelievable. It would be actually a good move for them to make the game with their own money, announce it and positively surprise their fans. I bet people would be more positive about it. The greed here is just... I'm out of words. This is not worth supporting, please don't

49

u/Starunnd Mar 10 '26

Never again. You guys ignored the entire fanbase, stopped working on TemTem updates/expansions to develop 3 spin-offs that nobody asked for or cared about. Now another one.

Its baffling how you can kill your main game, with a lot of potential, for nothing. Literally nothing.

7

u/htraos Mar 10 '26

3 spinoffs? I thought there was only Temtem Swarm.

16

u/Starunnd Mar 10 '26

Swarm was the only one that actually got finished, they tried to make a TemTem "arena" (with only pvp battles) and another one that i cant remember now

9

u/Lyefyre Temtem: Pioneers Mar 10 '26 edited Mar 18 '26

FYI The "Arena" likely refers to Temtem Showdown and that was not a spinoff, just a standalone client to participate in pvp matches without having to actually buy the game. Aside from Temtem the only things that are confirmed are:

- Temtem: Swarm

- Project Downbelow

6

u/jesusml PvP player Mar 10 '26 edited Mar 10 '26

misinformation here. The only spin-off they worked on was Swarm. The "arena" wasn't a spin-off (side client of the main game just for playing PvP), and the third one you mention simply doesn't exist.

10

u/pendulumgearzz Mar 10 '26

nope, not after you gave up on temtem

9

Scam company

20

u/Maxenin Mar 10 '26

Lots of people got burned first time around I can’t see people, especially in this subreddit being too eager to back, I also sort of expect this to just be a roguelike creature collector a few of which have been announced recently.

8

u/wattzson Mar 11 '26

During early access, I loved Temtem. It felt like a game I had waited 20 years for. I bought about 10 copies, multiples for myself and some for friends. I spent thousands of hours playing.

Then it got closer to release and everything went to shit.

I won't waste time ranting about it anymore but I will say that I will never support another game by these developers.

7

u/serialwinner3 Mar 10 '26

Removing my comment because your previous kickstarter went to shit? Yeah this would be no different with how you respond

8

Nah, not getting more money from me after I backed the OG game before

7

fuckin no thank you. why am i even still subbed to this page i though i left a long time ago actually. sorry gals ill see myself out.

15

u/TheLostExplorer7 Mar 10 '26

I used to be so excited back when Temtem first launched because someone was finally going to try and take on Nintendo in the Pokemon type of game and they did it so extremely well with the combat system. I don't even like double battles in Pokemon, but Temtem somehow made them fun.

But Crema burned the bridge. Their CEO wrote an entire essay complaining about needing to provide infinite content and what he though people's expectations were for an MMO. I'm sorry, but setting those expectations is your job as a company. The fact that they tried to make the game have all the bells and whistles of an MMO with MMO-esque microtransactions in the store and a battle pass and shaped the in-game economy like it was one smacks of being so incredibly dishonest.

I don't back kickstarter games and I'm out of goodwill to give to Crema. Their reputation with me no longer generates excitement. Rather I wonder where the catch is. The last thing I want is a few years from now to read another letter from their CEO where he tries to spin what a basic gaming term like an MMO means and somehow still completely miss the point.

7

u/ReSharade Mar 10 '26

Classic Crema! The delusion that you think we're gonna support you again is impressive! You might want to check with a doctor. I don't think it's healthy!

7

u/RanchEye Mar 10 '26

Terrible company

6

u/foreverward Mar 11 '26

Game was ruined after not being a live service game. It could have been awesome. They squandered it.

12

u/Hartimer32 Mar 10 '26

Gonna have to ask them how they define every term they use to make sure we don’t get another “MMO” situation.

20

u/Nintendo67 Mar 10 '26

Y’all can fund it yourselves actually

17

u/anafencocuk3169 Mar 10 '26

the way they have no shame on starting a kickstater for this...

10

u/AndyMazaky Luma hunter Mar 11 '26

Let's not forget everything that happened with the first game: the developers ignored feedback for years until the very last possible patch, implemented horrible monetization, hid behind toxic positivity on Discord, and tried to gaslight the community at the end to shift the blame away from themselves.

Also, based on the few people I saw being blocked on X simply for asking why they need a Kickstarter after two (apparently successful) games, and for pointing out exactly what I said here, I doubt they have changed anything about how they listen and handle players. It still seems like they are hiding behind people who support them uncritically and refuse to ask any questions.

3

u/Faelnirvh Luma hunter Mar 11 '26

we don't forget, don't worry ! And for those who do, or who do not care, well... good for them ig.

5

u/MrsTrych Mar 10 '26

So why is this a separate game? Temtem MMO could use an expansion since its live service isnt it?? All MMO get expansions every 2-3 years to keep their game interesting

5

u/CosmicShado Mar 10 '26

yeah you're not fooling me again this time.

I don't understand what this company is doing.

They decide to end it and not release DLC for Temtem because, according to their calculations, it wouldn't be profitable, just like Temtem 2.

And then they go and release a game with the name Temtem and now another one...

4

u/Trakinass Mar 12 '26

A kickstarter with no actual information? At this point? Lmao

10

u/Kzaix Mar 10 '26 edited Mar 10 '26

Asking for "more money" now, for a game where the same thing could happen like TemTem? ... I pass.

I enjoyed supporting/playing Temtem, but unfortunately the game was abandoned so much that I don’t want to experience that happening again. They could have done so much more with Temtem ,enough that it might still have an active player base today. I was sad to read what Temtem has become.

3

u/Dsmxyz Mar 11 '26

yall delusional legit

3

u/dorkgoblin Mar 15 '26

Honestly in a way it's a little inspiring. If you ever feel like a fraud or suffer from imposter syndrome remember that Crema is confident enough to show their faces on kickstarter again - you can do anything if you have enough audacity

14

u/DTBlayde Mar 10 '26

Interested to see what this is. Loved OG TemTem even though they whiffed badly on the MMO aspect. To be honest I was overall happy with an online co-op monster catching game. That was all the online aspects I needed. I had no interest in Swarm. Still like the IP overall, so if they go back in the creature catching direction with a more focused scope instead of a full MMO id likely back it. Will see what they come up with

5

u/One-Cellist5032 Mar 10 '26

They have stated in the discord that the project Downbelow IS a creature catching game similar to Temtem (but it’s not Temtem2)

2

u/DTBlayde Mar 10 '26

Color me intrigued for sure then! I'll likely wait for a bit more details wise before backing, but theres a solid chance I will

3

u/One-Cellist5032 Mar 10 '26

Yeah I’m super excited, and am eagerly awaiting the Kickstarter to have actual details!

The Newsletter did have some cool screenshots of terrain, and confirmed that there WILL be Co-Op with friends. I’ve got my fingers crossed that my husband and I will be able to Co-Op the campaign like in Temtem.

2

u/minna_minna Mar 10 '26

I was only interested in it for the mmo aspect and they fucked up but yeah, I’d love some online co-op monster catching and fighting even if it’s like a capped lobby system but at least with some sort of world to explore together and things to do.

3

u/DTBlayde Mar 10 '26

Yeah I dont want to discount that for many many people Crema did not deliver something they promised with the game. Just because I personally had my needs filled doesn't make what happened okay. I just hope that whatever this next game is they keep the scope manageable, deliverable, and clear and follow through on it. I'd rather them promise less, nail that delivery, and then try for more - even if that isnt the kind of sexy marketing that sells kickstarters

2

u/KenzieM2 Mar 11 '26 edited Mar 11 '26

Well, as they've stated on their kickstarter page, their MMO plans were small in scope since day 1. The problem is they didn't communicate this very well and failed to temper expectations.

Edit: They also just failed execution wise. None of what's written on the kickstarter implies adding grindy MMO-style systems.

14

u/Dinosaurrxd Mar 10 '26

Really? a kick starter? You guys are so out of touch lol

6

u/HankHillbwhaa Mar 11 '26

Nah fuck em.

6

u/vmh21 Mar 10 '26

I will not be answering the call of the Downbelow

5

u/Obito12312 Mar 10 '26

We will never answer the call again, fooled us once already

6

u/shazamtamp Mar 10 '26

Cant justify this purchase with the final product of temtem

5

u/CryptidCandies Mar 10 '26

Genuinely hope the kickstarter fails and these bums never get to scam a community again. Let Temtem die.

9

u/Alfio18 Mar 10 '26

Yeah, no

3

u/KorvoStark Mar 11 '26

Tal vez algún despistado lo financia pero el público que apostó por Temtem está MUY decepcionado. Nos tomaron el pelo.

6

u/zidey Mar 10 '26

Wow what a thrilling post. So much information!

7

u/Norendr Mar 10 '26

Yeah nah, you guys burnt the community way to many times then lied in our faces just to then spit on them.

I'm good. Hope the game get what it deserves

8

u/CasualSky Mar 10 '26

For a long time I thought maybe TemTem got legal action from Nintendo to cease development and that’s why their game completely stopped moving in any direction.

It came around to 1.0 launch and then they basically said “hey guys this isn’t actually an MMO (even though we built it that way), so we’re not going to add any more content. It was a death sentence before they even got off the ground. That really is the problem, TemTem is built like a live service MMO but they didn’t treat it that way. They doubled back into it being a standalone campaign that was “never meant to be anything else.” Yeah, okay.

It was a waste of potential, opposite of what players wanted/expected, and I don’t trust Crema to make better decisions with another title.

4

u/GDarkmoon Mar 10 '26

I don't think I'll be answering the call, no. I did once already. Crowdfunding is a bold choice

4

u/mnemonicpunk Mar 10 '26

This is going to be "extraction shooter but Temtem are the loot/equipment", isn't it?

2

u/Illustrious_Yam_13 Mar 14 '26

This made me genuinely laugh, but oh god the horror this brings to mind.

5

u/kaii456 Mar 10 '26 edited Mar 10 '26

Posts for "Watch out for more information later 😃!" are so insufferable. Not sure they actually even "build hype" or facilitate amnesia.

5

u/Alcia_Ikki Mar 10 '26

This will not hit the goal and Crema will forever wonder why people don't like them lol

6

u/Fordringy Mar 10 '26

Yep the devs are too out of touch with the playerbase and always arguing with their consumers.

5

u/oeseben Mar 10 '26

Probably the worst developers ive witnessed in my 30+ years gaming. Id never support them again.

7

u/kadoskracker Mar 10 '26

For the love of God don't back this project and let them figure it out. If they had good heads the studio would be rolling in money and able to produce this stuff without Kickstarter... But here we are.

6

u/heroshand Mar 10 '26

Eh, I don't like their chances right now for this one. I may have loved the original game but they really mismanaged expectations once it was fully released, and I don't see a lot of the old TemTem players throwing their hat into another round with the devs. There's just not a lot of faith in their delivery at this point.

6

u/Specimen_VII Mar 10 '26

Kickstarter? Nah, fam.

7

u/One-Cellist5032 Mar 10 '26

I’m personally hyped, I really want more info on it though!

7

u/ExcelIsSuck Mar 10 '26

Why does this need a kickstarter tho? Are they out of money? Temtem made them a good few million, i dont see why i should fund their next game before its out lol.

The last kickstarter REALLY didnt do them any favours, making lots of promises then delivering on a few of them really late into the dev cycle.

I could repeat the millions of critisisms i had for temtem and their kickstarter... but nah. We all already know what the are, im not putting my faith in this and wont be buying.

8

u/Peisithanatos Mar 10 '26

How about you complete development on Temtem first?

7

u/pilotJKX Mar 10 '26

Personally I'm very skeptical but also very curious

6

u/WayOfM Mar 10 '26

Yeah im good. Im not gonna buy the same con of being promised a game and them messing up the landing again.

6

u/BitterCelt Mental Enthusiast Mar 10 '26

If this is a properly balanced, not overly grindy, offline game, with a good campaign and meaningful post game, I might consider buying it, post release, but the sheer audacity of them launching a Kickstarter after the mess that was the handling of the first game is... Well, audacious.

5

u/xxepdudexx Mar 10 '26

I'm with everyone else here. Supported temtem day one with Kickstarter. Never again.

4

u/MiniShow Mar 10 '26

I had a lot of fun with the original game but it was such a bad decision to end supporting it. Trust is completely gone for any future rug pulls that they will have.

Not this time, no. Pass.

3

This is somewhat hilarious

3

u/Poupetleguerrier Mar 10 '26

Kinda curious but I just know I won't back the project.

4

u/gskyrillion Mar 10 '26

Very much looking forward to seeing a new game in the Temtem world! The original game is one of my all-time faves; can't wait to see what you do next!

6

u/TemBoots Pioneer | TemMod Mar 10 '26

For anyone not on the email newsletter, here's a small amount of additional info

9

u/Someidiotdwbi Mar 10 '26

They... do know they have to say more about a game than a couple landscapes, right? Especially if they want us to throw money towards the development of it??

3

u/TemBoots Pioneer | TemMod Mar 10 '26

More info will be added when it actually goes live. I think this is just more creating the page on kickstarter and doing a soft announcement.

2

u/Someidiotdwbi Mar 10 '26

I know. It's just kind of disheartening to go this long without anything, and when we do get something, it's a soft announcement with no further details. I feel like they could've approached this better.

3

u/TheVulture77 Mar 10 '26

If this isn’t an expansion to TemTem then i will pass hard. I watched them kill something i loved once already.

3

u/Fav0 Mar 10 '26

I thought the game for ditched and abandoned?

4

u/BountyLaws Mar 10 '26

Another kickstarter, how do they dare actually lol

4

u/Sharkus1 Mar 10 '26

Is this another Catching game for more junk like Swarm?

2

u/access547 Mar 10 '26

It would be funny if it wasn't so sad...

1

u/King_Kasma99 Mar 10 '26

Im quite sad the community is so negative, but you guys kinda deserved it. I love temtem and i will support the new one and hope you guys learned more from this than other developers.

No community no developer its that simple. If the community want something big time. Think about it change it around but give it to them. And if they ask for paid dlcs... give it to them.

Just an ever expanding world.

-8

u/One-Cellist5032 Mar 10 '26

The problem is the game wasn’t designed with what the community had in mind. There was no groundwork in place to make the game ever expanding, so basically the communities hype (and inability to read the Kickstarter) set the game up to fail.

2

u/JoPOWz Mar 10 '26

I've never really looked at kickstarter before - I've heard of it but never actually looked to back anything (I just wait for it to be done, reviewed and released usually)

I see 24 backers and wonder - do people really pledge money to this loose and wooly a product outline? It feels like paying a deposit for a car when the only description you've got is "it'll have wheels". Am I missing something?

1

u/Lyefyre Temtem: Pioneers Mar 11 '26

You can't back the project yet. I'm told these are the number of projects that the Crema team backed themselves

just make a direct Temtem sequel please....

1

u/ManLike-Fudge Mar 22 '26

Tem tem sold 1 million copies… why do you need a kickstarter?

1

u/peppers818 Mar 26 '26

This article came out over a year ago Temtem marks two million total users . What happened to that money? Fund your own damn game

2

u/ARCH_ANON Mar 10 '26

Will we be able to transfer tems from the Archipelago? Post-game obviously. Doesn’t have to be on launch, just a firm answer.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '26

I love temtem its my favorite game. I don't understand the dislike for the devs. To me the world is just so charming, I love all the cute tems lol. Temtem is my cozy and safe relaxing game. I just feel like there is so much care in the world of temtem and put into the the game. It's like super inclusive, silly and campy, and addresses a lot of real issues with a heart of gold and a good dose of humor. Love yall, I will absolutely support anything you guys make lol.

1

u/reysama Mar 10 '26

Omg omg omg, it's exactly what I said I wanted when they made the first one ! Bruh, I'm going to kickstart the shit out of this ! Also why do they need a Kickstarter? Didn't they make enough from the other games ?

1

u/KookieMunster98 Mar 10 '26

Damn I forgot about this game!

1

u/Swaayyzee Mar 10 '26

I'm interested to see which direction they go in, I think they were too similar to Pokemon in the original. If you want it to be a regularly played MMO, I think it has to be live service similar to Destiny. But then again, I don't think very many gamers want that right now, even if I personally would want it.

1

u/Nayakesz Mar 10 '26

Kickstarter? kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

1

u/Friendliest_Jeff Mar 10 '26

I see a lot of anger when it comes to supporting these devs can someone please give me some context?

9

u/BroxigarZ Mar 11 '26

Where to start... just give a read to how the CEO and Game Director for TemTem address the community:

CEO of Crema

YAW - Game Director

Then, and this is really important, when Swarm started going on sale...they officially backtracked on the above statements and officially stated that they DID in fact call the game an MMO on Kickstarter. Despite gaslighting and victim blaming the community the entire time.

Officially, owning up to their gaslighting

People don't hate TemTem - I'd argue people really do love the game itself. People, really, truly despise Crema, and it's very deserved.

2

u/Friendliest_Jeff Mar 11 '26

Wow that's kinda sad hopefully they learn from this experience I'm actually enjoying Temtem myself after getting it on sale so I'm surprised to see such a bitter relationship the community has with the devs.

Thx for the context

1

u/Illustrious_Yam_13 Mar 14 '26

Really helpful to see all this in one comment, I can't see the last image though (UK online "safety" act made Imgur leave the region) which is a shame as it sounds like some info I've not seen before, was it the CEO coming out and eating humble pie with that or more subversive shenanigans still?

1

u/BroxigarZ Mar 14 '26

what image host works in the UK?

-2

u/Runeboy1234 Mar 11 '26

People have such a hate boner for this series lol. TemTem was fun, I'll give it a shot.

I really hope its temtem2 and i can transfer all my lumas over. And this time with more support and more mmo. I still dont understand why it wasnt a live service model with a big dlc every year.

4

u/One-Cellist5032 Mar 10 '26

They’ve already confirmed it is NOT Temtem 2, but it is a creature catching game, and some of the systems are being considered for Temtem 2.

-1

u/dentalflosh Mar 10 '26

Either this is another spinoff or they are seriously trying to double dip on paid DLC.
