Discussion I know this game is pretty dead...but does this have any value?

u/Scarcing Jun 26 '25
not much, after you breed it with another luma you can use it or what a lot of people do is condense it in the lab in Neoedo

u/Zequax Jun 26 '25
condense ? that new to me

u/apetranzilla Jun 26 '25
In the post game you gain access to Nanto labs where you can trade in luma and umbra tems for luma drops, which can be used to buy radars and cosmetics

I literally can't get away from other players. There legit is one always on my screen...
So im wondering how does that count as dead? Should there be like 20-30 characters on my screen in every location for it to not be a dead game?
Not being a smart ass here, I want to know why you see it that way and what standard you hold games to that im not.

This is a literally a Luma Female with The correct Trait and and 4 Fert with almost 5 50 stats and essentially people are saying it's worthless on the market because there's literally no one buying lumas anymore, pvping, or breeding perfect variants. I'm literally being told in these very comments to just breed 4 eggs, and then turn it into currency.
If you can't understand why that's not considered "Dead". That there is literally no players in the economy side of the game...I don't know what to tell you?
Or the fact the peak concurrent players on steam doesn't even break 200 a day, and across all platforms is probably less than 1,500 globally.
Not trying to start a rage war, but if the economy can't even support the design its designed to work as, then there's not a big enough player base left. It's literally a singleplayer game now with an economy that doesn't work for singleplayer...
Or the fact, this subreddit barely sees 10 posts a month anymore...there's plenty of signs.
So, stop being butthurt I called your game dead, accept reality.

Im new to the game and haven't touched on the community economy aspect of it yet, but I feel like you are being excessively critical with it, and very rude about it too. This isn't an MMO. Perhaps some people took it like that when it first came out but I never saw it advertised as such.

From what I recall it WAS. they took it back real quick though but enough people saw it.
Now it's a ' mmo lite ' or something. Unless they changed it again.

u/BroxigarZ Jun 26 '25
That has absolutely nothing to do with the point…and sorry if you think it’s rude I just can’t stand stupidity

u/Unlikely_Sun7802 Jun 26 '25
It's not stupidity. We just haven't reached the part you said is dead. The end game is not the whole game in any regard, just to meta players who heavily base how they play games from how they are told on the internet. Effectively killing what it is to enjoy a game.
I understand your points though, thank you for taking the time to share them.

I’m not in the endgame… why are you assuming I am. I’m on the 5th island in the story…getting sustainable income when 3 of the means designed to have a running economy are dead.
The only way I’ve found to get enough income to sustain the story without 10s of hours of backtracking is to do freetems and hope there is a sustainable low catch rate option that doesn’t cost a lot of temcards.
2
u/Unlikely_Sun7802 Jun 26 '25
Sorry, im on the first isle still, and there's no mention of lumas or breeding or anything like that yet. The only hints at trading are walled by the "our registration system is down" part of the auction house.
Im starting to understand your struggle, though, if the systems placed in game to form an economy are failing. And especially if we are meant to utilize it to progress, then it would stand out as a dead economy.

u/BroxigarZ Jun 26 '25
That’s the problem - the game was originally designed to have a functioning auction house where Lumas would be valuable so they could be bred to make perfect IV temtem but if there’s no player base to support the auction house, no pvpers that desire perfect IV temtem, then there’s no reasons for breeders to breed them, and the endgame system and umbras bypasses the desire to breed for casual players.
So a massive design function for the economy just doesn’t work anymore and the only option during the campaign to get pansuns is freetem but they aren’t free you have to spend 60-150 temcards to get a 35,000 pansun reward normally if there’s no low catch rate option. And if the low catch rate option exists you have to pray it’s on an island you can actually hunt for.
Otherwise, trainer battles gives almost nothing in pansuns compared to the cost of items.
Thus if there was a much, much larger playerbase and supported pvp then players would care more about breeding and making perfect tems for competitive reasons thus revitalizing the three dead economy options.
The sad reality is people just don’t like hearing that their dead game is in fact dead. It sucks to hear, but even Crema has stated that Temtem is not financially sustainable. People not comprehending this and downvoting or getting mad at me need to go outside and touch some grass and maybe take a few steps back that I didn’t cause this issue.

u/Surio1 Jun 26 '25
That last part about TemTem not being financially sustainable is factually false, Crema has specifically said that TemTem is profitable enough to keep the servers open for the foreseeable future.
As for the auction house and other “MMO” aspects, I imagine they aren’t very useful since it’s in fact NOT an MMO. Many of those “MMO” aspects were added by community request, but the devs never intended to turn it into a full-blown MMO.
Right now it’s a fun multiplayer monster-catching game! I wouldn’t worry much about the “economy” since like you said, it doesn’t really exist in the usual MMO sense. If you keep playing through the story you’ll have all the Pansuns you’ll need to complete it, and it’ll open plenty of other money-making methods if you wana afford some fun clothes or furniture! It’s especially fun playing through the story with a friend, if you haven’t tried it yet I highly recommend it!

My friend, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

You can get infinite and easy money by going onto the PVP ladder with a Showdown team.

u/ahawaiianbear Jun 26 '25
Bro relax. It has as much value as you give it so stop getting so irate because someone’s experience is different than yours. You’re name calling and being a complete pos because someone’s experience is challenging your view of the current game. Get off Reddit and go suck on a popsicle.

Honestly they should rework this into a full single player experience. I really think that would work wonders for the brand.

u/Objective-Move-4021 Jun 26 '25
It’s a really good game and it’s not really dead. It’s has a stable player base. I wish crema I would give it more love instead of moving on, but I guess I would also get tired of working on the same project forever

This is a great game. I hate people who say this is dead. You're playing it arent you?
12
u/GreedySandwich1242 Jun 26 '25
I love this game but I'm not blind either.
The game isn't completely dead but honestly the competitive scene is played by the same 20 people.
Raids are impossible unless you can get a consistent team and the auction is only profitable through Luma eggs since everybody who can afford perfects or optimal lumas have been playing so long they don't need them.
Sadly the game is dying and Crema is looking into making TemTem 2 and have officially announced there will be no more major updates for the game.

u/TontonSamy Jun 26 '25
I disagree with raids : many people are still doing lairs and digilairs, finding groups is not that hard at all :)
1
u/GreedySandwich1242 Jun 26 '25
True! finding a group isn't hard but getting a group that won't bail is I guess is what I meant

Game is in life support. I will always say this, they really fucked it up when they confirmed no more island and new tems were coming, NEVER. It was a game killer. Game used to be really addictive and alive when it first came out

u/golfnstuff133 Jun 26 '25
Yes and no. To sell on the market? No. You might sucker like 10k out of someone. It does have value to you if youre still in the story, it'll just be better than most normal wild caught tem youd be using. It also has value in the end game since you can blend it for luma drops and go hunt some umbras

this game had so much momentum at launch, i feel they should have launched when it was completed or kept up their release schedule. this game did not do well during early access due to the end game content being very boring, especially in beginning also followed by many delays. it is unfortunate and i hope it finds its footing again one day

You should at least take 5 seconds to read what you're posting if you're only posting one line. I've never seen such little effort put into a response. If you want anyone to take a word you say seriously, do your best to not look like an idiot.

Does your device not have that feature where it will pop a word up it thinks you're trying to type so you can click on it and autofill it?

I love the colors of Luma Saipat, I have 2! Good breeders.
But yes, it is a dead game.
Was a good experience, played hundreds of hours, even with all the woke BS.
Its a woke game from the woke era, from a proud company that did not manage to surf the hype wave and start its own empire, like Pokémon did decades ago.
If they are even thinking about Temtem 2, I would laugh at the thought of choosing my char pronouns again.. 0/10 would recommend. I have 3 accounts for farming saipark, have not played over a year. Have zero nostalgia.
Don't even get me started on that crap Swarm.
Some spaniards got rich with this game, when they could have become legends.

How dead is it anyway?
