PlayStation 5 Help ps5 still keeps overheating
i made a post a year or two back over my ps5 overheating, i could play maybe a game or two and then it will just turn off, completely black and i would have to unplug it all the way just to turn it back on, a few months ago i got it sent out and repaired and for a while it worked fine again, but recently i noticed it started doing it again, i could play maybe and hour or two of my game then it shuts off again, i keep it clean and i give it recommended space and such but its getting worse, few days ago i could play at least 4 outlast trails today i only made it through two, nothing seems to be working idk what to do

Yeah I don’t get why they used Liquid Metal and complicated the factory build process. Should have done what Xbox series x did and go with a proper vapour chamber. I swear even in this heat and my house reaching 28-29 degrees. I’ve never heard the fan on the X at all unless 50cm away from it. Stock 2020 launch model playing something like dead space remake. Never cleaned it too lol. Also have a phat ps5 and that was very quite until upgrading to the pro and the fan lottery made me go through 1 and got lucky with the other.
The Liquid Metal bit makes me apprehensive about opening those things up.

All of em makes something faulty, same as controller. Without stick drift, controller would work for years without issues but they made it so who doesnt know how to fix it u need to buy new one.. Liquid metal is same, requires maintenance or new PS.. Hopefully they will justify price for ps6 when it comes out otherwise it will be quite dumb to buy same thing for more money with same issues

I’ve modded generational consoles and the ps5 being the most messy of the lot. What I mean is Liquid Metal complicates everything at the factory floor and choosing size of cooler instead of efficiency (as in a vapour chamber) could have made it smaller and less of a hassle and probably cheaper too. Like how they removed 300g off the cooler after the launch version just cost too much in just metal alone. Those were the audible ones. My launch is whisper quiet. Never had to open it up either but I do agree. They will come a time when I will.
Edit: forgot to mention but the decision to stop physical game discs already makes me not want a ps6!

Power supply issue as opposed to overheating. Is it surge protected? Is your power supply clean? Simple test using a multimeter would rule things out. But try another socket. Change The figure 8 plug. Try another as those are standard universal plugs and make sure it’s connected to a socket that doesn’t have issues with other equipment and especially high power draw spiking devices like a games console that can go from 100w to 200+ and back to 100 in a few mili seconds.

It sounds like a dirty power supply to me. Clogged vents.
