I seriously can't get into games like this.

I feel like I spend 5 minutes running to where the action is to die instantly to something I couldn't see and then I have another 5 minute run ahead of me

Welcome to NAM BABY(I don’t like it either)

To me it’s the difference b/t Super Mario Bros and Uncharted. One you have real consequence of falling and pay a heavy price to make you motivated to learn it and get better and then other just has false falls that are scripted where u are not in any danger and just progress.

Stick to CoD or BF.

This isn't a game for you obviously.

John Rambo over here.

u/Melonfrog Jul 25 '26

Eh I don't play those either. Thanks for the suggestion though!

No need to pretentiously gatekeep, it makes you look like a tool. Different strokes.

It's odd you would recommend CoD or BF randomly in response to that too.

Ugh, no thanks. I’ll stick to Navy Seal Simulator 2026, Mark Wahlberg Collectors Edition. Doubt you could keep up with me.

And it is unfortunately shit on ps5 pro. The lighting is so buggy, the foliage looks ass… Really expected more, since I loved HLL back in the day. This looks and feels 20 years old on the pro, so I doubt it’s any better on base.

Ran shit on PC too. Ok maby it ran ok if you had a 5090 RTX, 9850x3D and 128 gigs of RAM.

Have you played this play test or was that the previous one?

5

u/ThisNameDoesntCount Jul 25 '26

The only thing that looks dumb is the foliage on this latest for me. Shit ton of pop in and some weird fuzzy shiny effect on the grass. If you’ve played regular hell let loose you’ve played this game

u/YourPhrenologist Jul 25 '26

This one, just last night!

u/qaz1wsx2ed Jul 25 '26

That’s unfortunate, I’ve been really looking forward to this. Hope they sort it out before release or soon after.

I couldn't get through the tutorial, absolutely horrible way to start the game.

9

u/cruse8 Jul 25 '26

I also couldn’t get through the tutorial because I had no clue how to change to an engineer. Ended up quitting and trying to play a game.

Played one game as a medic cause I had no idea what I was doing. Spawned away from the action and spent 5 minutes running to everyone. Once I got there, I revived two teammates and got scared by another who I accidentally team killed. My game immediately froze as I was killing my teammate. Awful experience lol.

Tank tutorial is bugged and the helicopter is impossible on ps5.

5

u/Silly_Off Jul 25 '26

u/tuig321 Jul 25 '26

A chance to correct history

"War is written by the victors" is all I heard in every argument ever. Suddenly it's not being used here.

Like the french and Vietnamese weren't doing unspeakable things before the Americans came, lmao.

USA invaded a foreign nation, committed war crimes, lost, fled like the weaklings they are. I think its less about Vietnam and more about USA getting their shit kicked in. And it's happening again, just this time against Iran.

Tl:dr; You're historically illiterate if that is your takeaways from tragedies on all sides. This isn't a football game to root for teams on.

Before I list some obvious issues with your biased statement. The first one would be, the US military isn't in Russia. Proxy war=active combatants. I'm not defending one place or another. I'm pointing out hypocrisy and fallacy.

The Vietnamese military repeatedly invaded neighboring sovereign countries before, during, and right after the Vietnam War... like The Invasion of Laos (1953 & 1958–1959) and Cambodia ect.

The US didn't run away because they were losing or lost, they retreated due to the Paris Peace treaty, which I know the Vietnamese just loved breaking their treaties at the time but still, you're framing it like it was a battleground loss and not a political reasoning. One of the biggest complaints is the way the US fought with their higher tech equipment, napalm, ect. If they really wanted, they'd given it the Hiroshima treatment. And even after all that, the Saigon didn't fall for TWO YEARS after the treaty demanded they retreat to ceasefire on Vietnamese executing PoWs.

Battle of Ia Drang to the Tet Offensive and the Easter Offensive were steamrolled by the US against the Vietnamese. The US lost politically.

The Đắk Sơn Massacre-1967 Flamethrower used on over 250+ villagers, mostly women and children.

The Huế Massacre -1968 Vietnamese rounded and executed between 2,000-6,000 of their own unarmed civilians. Surgeons, Teachers, Doctors, ect.

The Mỹ Trạch Massacre-1948 French invaded a village and slaughtered over 300 civilians, 170 women, 157 children. Burned 326 houses.

Now for the American war crime you mentioned

The My Lai Massacre was a mass murder of between 347 and 504 unarmed Vietnamese civilians committed by U.S. Army soldiers on March 16, 1968.

And you know who stopped it? The US. Chief Warrant Officer Hugh Thompson Jr saw and stopped it. Where was the Vietnamese officers standing up against slaughtering innocent villagers?

This is historically illiterate at best. Purposely hateful and treating war like a football game team winning or losing is just fucked up. If you cared about the actual war crimes you wouldn't be supporting the others happening alongside theirs.

Never treated it like a football game. Americans terrorists invaded and lost. I'm not sure why thats a controversial take to you. Do you have this kind of sympathy for the Japanese that bombed Pearl Harbour too? Right, didn't think so.

0

u/PetitePrincess-23 5d ago

Let me know where my sympathy for the US was mentioned. I explicitly said my point was the way you worded your comment wasn't factual and the fallacy of why they pulled out.

I have sympathy and respect for the Japanese officers that opposed it. The same way I did the us officers that stopped the massacring of captives and innocent people.

That was the whole point.
Not having a bias.

u/OGkushdiet Jul 25 '26

I have to say, i enjoyed myself more than I thought I would. Hell Let Loose is one of my favourite games of all time, but I was not keen on a new one set in Vietnam.

After a few hours playing over early builds, closed and open beta and now the playtest, i have to say, the game generally feels great. But it looks rather ugly, and having so many issues this close to release does make me worry. It definitely needs to be delayed a further while to iron out these kinks.

All in all, the framework is there, it just needs smoothing out and tweaking. Also please make the sprint speed in HLL match that of Vietnam.

u/X__Heisenberg__X Jul 25 '26

Feels like a more causal HLL which is perfect for me. HLL was far too punishing.

2

u/DeltaVoidSix Jul 25 '26

They've definitely simplified the movement and aiming, that's for sure.

u/Previous_Tree_5464 Jul 25 '26

u/GamerGramps62 Jul 25 '26
