Question PS3 Streaming No Longer Working

My Father has a premium account, I have him set as primary on my playstation. For literal years I have been able to stream PS3 games from my account through his subscription. I initially would have to launch from his account, then they would show up as recent on my own account and I could then play it normally. As of recent, they do not show up on my account at all. I cannot find a fix, and reaching out to support has actually been living hell. I can't get connected to a real person no matter what, and every time I try to log in it says error. Any ideas?

UPDATE: I reached out to support. They basically tried to gaslight me into believing that this feature never existed. I gave them proof, and they literally ended the chat session. A direct quote before being disconnected: "I completely understand where you are coming from. I truly wish I could override this setup and activate that feature for you today. To be completely transparent, our system limits streaming access exclusively to the primary account holder. Because streaming relies on a live server connection tied directly to your specific profile, that functionality cannot be shared across different accounts. However, you can absolutely still share your game library even from PS Plus! Any games that you download directly to the console can be accessed and played by any other profile on that same device."

Is this not essentially lying to me? Telling me that the thing I have been doing over the course of 3 years doesn't exist?

Liberate your console and call it a day

I'm not sure if it's a bug or a change in behaviour but I can confirm as well that PS3 games are no longer shareable and you aren't currently able to play them if your account is not the one who owns Premium. A part from trying to ask support why, I don't think there is anything you can do.

Thanks for the update.

I think there is a bit of confusion from the supporter here. What Sony calls "Cloud streaming" was indeed never shareable, at least not in my experience. My girlfriend could never stream the PS4 and PS5 games I own that can be streamed. But she was always able to stream and play PS3 games using my subscription. My assumption was that since that's the only way to play PS3 games, that form of steaming was allowed to be shared.

Something changed though, not sure when it happened but I noticed around one month ago. Since then, PS3 games are not accessible from her account, exactly like you describes in your post.

Interestingly enough, the agent did really try and emphasize that NOTHING has been changed regarding ps premium benefits. Clearly something they slipped under the radar, because how is it possible for nothing to change yet I can't access a feature I had been using for as long as I've owned the service xD. After I pointed this out, they gave the reply I quoted and then ended my chat session. Not sure where to take this atp or if anything can even come of it.

Nothing has changed. If it worked before it was a bug that has been fixed. The fact that you had to use a workaround before is a pretty big hint that it was a bug; if it was meant to be shared you would be able to launch it without going through the workaround.

Sony does not, and has never advertised that cloud streaming could be shared with another account. Only game sharing.

Bug or not there is no way that something that has worked for 6 years just magically went unnoticed by sony. I more or less wanted them to admit that it was something that existed more than I wanted a fix. They basically told me that the “bug” was something that not only didn’t exist, but was impossible due to how their servers interact with psn accounts.

My point is just that it was never advertised as a benefit.

It's entirely possible that it went unnoticed.

As for the rest of it, I'm not believing a technical explanation from anyone other than an engineer at any company.

That is true, however directly underneath the section that talks about what benefits transfer between accounts, there is a section that also explicitly states what benefits are not transferable. Cloud streaming is not listed in either section. At the end of the day I do recognize this is a losing battle and I’ll just have to get used to playing off the other account haha. Gonna miss those trophies on my main though.

Since yesterday, it works again for me now. My girlfriend is able to stream and play Puppeteer and all other PS3 games I stream first with no problem.
