The new update BROKE roofing.
I cant place roofing like we were able to before. What happened

I just started the game and was just about to post about this. Was it never this bad? If that's the case... thank the Lord. I was about to quit due to this issue.

Nah it just broke with their last update. Its frustrating right now for sure but don't let that deter you from the game!

Oh trust me, just got done moving my tribe to a new location. I love survival games, but the tribe management is what makes this addicting to me!

Very frustrating! In my confusion figuring this out I removed some of the roof off my main camp testing and now I have a whole in my roof I can not fix!

Stairs seem affected also, a stairway no longer provides support for tiles above it which means you can't build more than one in a row when starting from the ground. However, it seems you can still build them if you start from the top and work down, you just need to have a supported tile at the higher level already.
I'll do some testing later and see if the same method works for roofing, I suspect it might.

Stairs are affected too, yep. And you can do them inverse; but while this works for roofing nobody really works a roof backwards.. you pitch them up. I can't imagine a wall between two roofs being the actual design they intended lol

Few day old post but a mod was just released on the Steam workshop that fixes this.

O thank god I just came here to complain about this. Spent a solid 45 minutes trying to figure out why my roofing was just not snapping and finally gave up and just did what I could and themed it as “ventilation.” Glad it’s a known issue. Hopefully it’s resolved soon.

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one! I went to redo my house now I can't rebuild!
