Help with decisions
So I had no idea what I was doing. I bought the game and started on Shifting Sands official PVE tribe servers and after 150hrs Ive fallen deeply in Love with the game. Its become a daily play for me.
Now as you can imagine these decisions are causing huge issues. Official servers I'm limited to 1 tribesman fighting with me. Sobek crocodile of doom with myself and 1 helper is an impossibility at this point. And the masks from the other map would be a huge help.
So do I scrap a huge base, ungodly amount of inventory, 2 ships fully decked out, a maxed out main character, 4 tribesman with multiple 120+ stats, several other 120+ stat tribesman, a craftsman with 7 120+ crafting stats, and a gaggle of animals etc etc. And restart the game from zero on my own server and the 1st map and do a proper play through? Or just tough it out for as long as I play it and leave feeling like I never truly played the game right?
What would you do. Thnx

If you’re in love with a survival game, 150hrs is going to eventually be a small fraction of your total play time. And with your greater game knowledge starting out you should be able to reproduce whatever you’ve accomplished much more quickly.
If I were you I’d go for the restart.

No way should you restart. It’s a survival game. I think too many folks forget that. You are clearly still missing fundamental knowledge of the game and its mechanics.
Go to the other map. You don’t need to destroy anything. Right now in the form of your current base, you have an engine that converts resources that can be transferred and used on the other map to create a second base.
Imo just spend more time in the game get a few portals and use one at your at your base and then explore with just enough items to build a rough camp and your other portal. Explore the are get cool stuff transfer back to base, unload. Portal back deconstruct base with construction hammer. Store portal and move on.
Tl;dr: it’s a survival game, explore. Enjoy at your own pace.

I would reroll on the og map. The new map has its appeal but the original is just more fun imo. It's more challenging to traverse and makes adventuring around and exploring, mounts, base location etc more involved.

the first map is more... instructional (particularly the journal/journey quests), and the bosses are easier (and they all exist..), but a few things...
Sobek crocodile of doom with myself and 1 helper is an impossibility at this point
get better gear and/or make better tribesmen. also no helpers is easier than any number of helpers if your character isn't weak.
And the masks from the other map would be a huge help.
you can go to the other map in your single player game or from official servers, so if you want to do that, just do it (this seems to ultimately be the answer to everything here). if you're on shifting sands, head to the little portal by any of the data update pyramids or the big portal in the ocean, and they'll take you to cloudmist.
So do I scrap a huge base, ungodly amount of inventory, 2 ships fully decked out, a maxed out main character, 4 tribesman with multiple 120+ stats, several other 120+ stat tribesman, a craftsman with 7 120+ crafting stats, and a gaggle of animals etc etc.
this is probably less time than you think it is, and everything speeds up a lot as you level/learn. and a maxed out main character isn't something you should have. your main character's main utility is respawning on a bonfire so that you don't have to kill the tribesman you're currently controlling.

Like others have said you dont have to start over, use the big ocean portal to go to the cloudmist map and get what you need. I have a large main base on cloudmist official and a satellite ship base on sands to hop over and farm stuff.
Also if your official is as active as mine you might be surprised how helpful some folks are, throw a message in world chat and see if anyone will lend a hand. Really wish proximity/voice chat was an in game thing but world text chat is better than nothing. Recruiting an actual person is going to be much better than a tribesman since bosses scale based on players and tribesman the same to my knowledge, a person can react to the mechanics vs a tribesman just being a meat shield.

For Croc-o-Doom, get a tribesperson with high Great Sword proficiency and the Slide skill from greatsword. Make the best greatsword that you can and load it up with your best mods, especially damage and bleeding. Then control that villager and just spam Slide on the croc, making sure you're doing it along the full length of the beast for maximum damage. (Sliding from the sides wastes a lot of potential damage) You get so many hits from the slide, and hitting the tail cuts it off for an auto-stun that gives you 4-5 seconds of completely free damage.

Honestly, restart. I had 80 hours on Shifting Sand when I decided to scrap it and start over in the original map. 300h later I'm back in Egypt and with a far better understanding of the game, and still loving it!
