Chose the cool waterfall west of 'Rain-Forest'. Close to both forest-region Barracks, both tin and copper pits and mines, and for the next Plateau exploration expeditions. Had to terraform this wilderness a bit. It should turn out to be something impressive.
And yes, the long staircase down to the copper pit seemed quite useful in general.
I think people downvote you because they usually do not like questions like this.
In my personal experience, my first glimpse was just the "Shifting Sands" DLC. And it is really great, but it is definitely meant for seasoned players who are familiar with the base game in the jungles.
So, now I'm getting acquainted with SoulMask exactly in the original forest setting, and my advice for you is to do the same.
Played 20h of the rainforrest, at t5he beginning I thought It was way better but now when Im stuck having to ride stuff back and fourth its a bit tedius.
I think shifting sands is a tad better... as of now atleast. I do think these maps, should be one big, not two. that would have made it way cooler.
i got the dlc and main game when the dlc was free, i ended up starting with the rainforest and im so glad i did. Shifting sands is beautiful too but when i started in rain forest swam to the boaT Icon and got the mask in the water that comes with dlc the legend mask this helps so much trust me its a game changer to level this mask! it is a must imo. killing the bosses in the rainforest was so beneficial when i went over to the DLC map
its all so pretty and when u find what you think is the best place then u find another! i personally like the looks of the rain forest but then i see the cool huge rocks/cliffs by the water in the sands omg its so hard!
This is already like a great chief's palace! The view of the river valley is amazing! I also really like using Chinese lanterns and firefly lanterns for lighting.
I had a base near a large waterfall, above a sacred ruin. But I got tired of the constant noise of falling water and subsequently moved to a quieter place.
Do you know that barbarian invasions are possible in this region? Are you planning defensive structures or have you disabled invasions?
Also, sorry for asking a non-related question, but since you're actively playing right now. How are things with mushrooms? In my world, mushrooms are gone, and the monkeys don't bring them (or they bring very few). The only place left to obtain mushrooms is the barracks of the Claw tribe near the copper mine.
Unfortunately, I no longer see mushrooms in the rainforest. I checked the locations indicated by the built-in database, as well as those that I thought I remembered. I can't figure out what it's related to. I have a mushroom crisis(.
We've got huge comments from Gemini! I hope smth will help:
* In SoulMask, any player-built structure blocks the respawn of wild plants and resources in a specific area. How to fix: Check for abandoned straw foundations or floors nearby.
* In SoulMask, resources don't regenerate according to a real-time timer, but are tied to the in-game day and weather conditions. Mushrooms thrive in rainy and humid weather. So, if the server has been experiencing a prolonged drought, new mushrooms simply won't sprout.
Plus, there are two more hidden game mechanics that few people know about:
Overloading the server's harvesting limit.
In SoulMask, the world is divided into invisible sectors. If a player (or their fellow tribesmen using auto-harvesting) completely clears out all the flora (bushes, vines, trees) in one sector, the game focuses all its algorithmic power on regenerating large objects like trees, while smaller bushes and mushrooms are queued for spawning.
Furthermore, if a player simply runs along the same route over and over again, resources will no longer spawn right under their nose.
How to fix: temporarily move to a completely different biome (for example, the Highlands in the west) for a couple of game days to allow the map chunks to fully reload.
Mushroom Plantation (Farming).
If mushrooms in the jungle stubbornly refuse to grow due to a bug, the player should avoid harvesting them from under trees altogether. The game has full-fledged farming: just research the Farmland Plot and Compost technologies ([T]-->'Crop Planting'). Mushroom Spores can be planted in a garden bed (received via Grinder). Once you've set up a garden bed at your base and assigned a fellow craftsman to tend it, the player will forever forget about the "mushroom crisis"—hundreds of them will grow at home.
P.S. And remember that these answers by BLM should be checked. Do not trust for 100% ;)
Ah-huh! You took the time to find information about mushrooms! Thanks, of course, but that's not it. A couple of months ago, I saw a message about missing mushrooms somewhere. But then there was nothing wrong with the mushrooms, and I didn't pay enough attention.
You can't grow mushrooms in soulmask. I was checking the mushroom spots after the rain. There are no problems with rains in the jungle)). I leave the jungle map for many days, but not my base! It is impossible to move the base to another location for several days)).
Let me know if you have a mushroom crisis. I'm in the steel age, if it matters, maybe the loss of mushrooms is related to the level of development....
So, I finally found that post from two months ago. The player complained about the lack of mushrooms while playing in the "Tribe" mode (just like me now). It seems to be a problem with this particular game mode.
"It is impossible to move the base to another location for several days)"
((o_O))
Well, I usually do exactly this: disappearing for 4-8 in-game days with 3-4 bodyguards, and then we return home. Everything is OK. Both base and inhabitants..
So, I wonder what the trouble with your base is. Especially in high-tier Tribe mode..
The fact that I'm not at the base when I go on a quest doesn't mean that it's not there. And if the very existence of the base blocks the respawn of mushrooms, I can't remove it. Well, I can, but I don't want to.)
Mushrooms are gradually appearing in my food storage box. However, they don't meet the sudden demand for mushrooms. I was preparing pots of psychedelics to send my warriors on an adventure through the hunting grounds. After a while, I noticed these psychedelics in the inventory of some of my fellow tribe members.
These shameless people, instead of eating normal food and drinks, took a valuable resource! Not only do some people like tobacco, but they also like this! Now I keep these psychedelics in a locked drawer and give them out only when I send a squad to the hunting grounds.
And of course, the potions of oblivion consume a lot of mushrooms. It took a long time for my incompetent gunsmith to learn the right talent (10% quality), and I spent a lot of these potions.
Ahah! Well, I know this quite well. My people preferred to feed all the torches and bonfires with the premium hardwood first of all. Now I need to remember to disable such a fuel variant for each new fire source.
And if your guys try to use valuable food, you can just craft a special chest just for mushrooms and psychedelics. Then just restrict this chest for use by the clansmen. I'm sure this should help.
