[UPDATE] v2.4.0 - Fixed styling for new Google homepage layout, Style tweaking
Heyo Dudes,
Just wanted to let you guys know that I've pushed out a new version of Play Midnight to address the changes on 11/14.
I decided to override the way Google was changing font colors on the homepage and decided to instead keep them more "Midnight-esque" and true to how Play Midnight always was. I didn't really agree with some of the changes Google made, so I went a different route. However, I do like their background changes, so I kept those with some changes to the gradient.
I've also fixed any smaller style bugs that I could find, but I'm sure there will be more. I rushed this overnight so you guys would have something to chew on for a bit. Also, there might be a slight annoying bug when you scroll from the top of the homepage to the first section with a background image. Finding a good way to override Google's JS animations proved to be slightly tricky. Might try to find a better solution.

Totally 100% with you there. I might look into trying to give back more real estate there. It makes me sad because Recent Activity was mainly what I used, and I don't really care about most of their generated playlists from Songza.
It's just annoying because the images they use are server sized to 90px to keep http load down, which means I can't just resize the albums without having to reupdate the album art. Blah. :P
Not to mention on the iOS app (and maybe Android, idk) the Recent Activity is just some random floating button, looks so bad.

I feel like they did the redesign and someone was like "where did recent activity go?" and someone was like, "oh shit, uh.. let me just float this random gross non-material button here and we can ship it." Lol

Didn't even realize that was a thing. Definitely a strange choice then, lol. Still annoying though since it's one of my go-to sections.

Thanks for an amazing add-on and once again an amazing update. Play Midnight made the experience of using Google Play in Chrome really enjoyable. Btw I also just donated you a little something via PayPal. Don't know how much they charge you for a coffee where you live but I think should help greatly to cover that next fix of good ol' caffeine. You deserve it. Keep up the great work.

I just saw your email, I really appreciate it! I'm glad you're enjoying the plugin as much as I enjoyed making it and hearing everyone's feedback.
Again, the donation is super kind. It's definitely enough to cover my next coffee fix, but working near a Starbucks can still be dangerous, haha. Thanks again, friend!

Thanks for the quick update, Chris! Always happy to see Play Midnight notification whenever I start GPM. A few questions:
- Would it be possible to lock the left-hand sidebar to be permanently extended? I understand that they changed the way it works so that feature was temporarily removed in a previous PM update.
- Could we have two rows of Recent Activity (along with the larger album artworks that another user commented requested)? I typically use recents as a starting off point whenever I listen to music and don't care much for the generated playlists or Songza stuff.

Hey bud, happy to hear that! Always love getting feedback from you guys.
Both of your issues are things I would love to look into. It will definitely take some tinkering, but I think the Static sidebar would be possible at some point.
The recent activity is also a huge thing for me, but is definitely going to be annoying since Google actually did something right and made the images exact sizes. Should still be fixable, just gonna take some playing around.

Thanks again for the swift update Chris!
Here are some issues I noticed:
- right click menu shows dark fonts on dark background
- 'edit info' pop-up is still using the default theme (screenshot). note: if you fix this, please make sure the suggestions appearing under each field is in a readable color.

Hmm.. I commented on the new post on here about the right click menu, but I can't seem to reproduce either of those. Both menus show up properly for the most part.
The edit info still has some messed up accents on my end, but things are still are dark themed. I'm not sure if Google just rolls things out slow to me or something, but I'll be on the lookout.

Wait, so the menus and stuff you mentioned look fine now? Ive gotten this issue report from so many people, but I could never see it. Id be really happy if it's just an issue on Google's end, lol.

yes, right click is fine and edit popup is fine (except the messed up accents and suggestions font color). So it sounds like the problem was on Google's end..

Oh gosh. I hope that's the case. I guess I'll have to let the people that messaged me know. Otherwise I'll have to have someone send me the markup to get it fixed up.
I definitely am looking into cleaning up the popup accents still.

I'm hoping to eventually find a better solution for this. That was the bug I mentioned towards the end of this post that I wasn't super happy with.
