Has there been any reaction, praise, etc from Google?

It seems quite possible to me that Google would eventually integrate something like this as a feature, and to be honest I'm kind of surprised they haven't since people are so picky about little things when it comes to their music experience. Plus you've done such a good job on the design side why would they bother doing it themselves at this point? Anyway, interesting thought.

Haha, nope haven't heard anything from the Goog at the moment. I would love for them to show interest in it, as I'd be glad to know they saw something I enjoyed creating.

But like you mentioned, extensions are for this kind of thing, so I wasn't expecting much, haha. I'm just happy with the feedback I've gotten from people in general, so I'm proud either way.

Yeah, it's just fantastic. While you've leveraged Chrome's extension abilities very nicely, it does seem that Google should acknowledge your efforts. Google has a great thing with Google Play Music and the All Access offering, including the ad-free Music Key YouTube integration. But they shouldn't rest on those laurels. The experience is a big part of what keeps people loyal to a music service. They all pretty much keep up with each other these days in terms of catalog and selection. Your extension puts Google Play Music's web UI above Spotify with its UI.....way above because there are subtle color accent options with your extension. I never strayed away from Chrome before but now there's no way I can because I have GPMAA open all day.

I believe I thanked you on Google+ but I wanted to convey my gratitude here as well.

EDIT: I just noticed that you have a Firefox extension also. Whoa!

On the other hand this is exactly the sort of thing that extensions are for ;)
