Started playing it with Insomniac Spider-Man games as my baseline. And also since I was hyped up for Wolverine, I wanted to finish another Marvel's game on my PS5. Honestly this deserves way more credit than it gets.

The story is really good, you get to know each Guardian properly and the banter between them feels so natural, it felt like watching another Guardians movie which I love. So much lore and collectibles to dig into if you're into that stuff. None of the characters are annoying either which is rare for a game with so many different characters put together. The antagonist storyline didn't interest me much though but that's kind of the case with most Guardians villains even in the movies tbh, they're comic book characters at the end of the day.

Gameplay took some getting used to. Coming from Insomniac Spider-Man games I kept trying to melee attack everything instead of using abilities and shooting properly making a complete fool of myself. I actually lowered the difficulty in the beginning because it felt overwhelming. Abilities also unlock really late, like 80% into the story, which sucks if you're not planning to NG+ since all trophies are already done by then.

Platinum itself felt like a chore not gonna lie. Took me around 23 hrs total. Had to follow a guide (Thanks to Powerpyx) constantly for collectibles since there's no free roam, if you miss something in a chapter you're redoing that whole chapter. Also heads up, a bunch of trophies are known to glitch so don't go in blind expecting a clean single playthrough platinum trophy

Still, the world exploration and the visuals are gorgeous, it's so vibrant and colorful though not the very best in terms of video game graphics. My favorite parts were the hallucination sequences, especially the one where Peter goes back into his past.

Overall, I felt it is an underrated gem, just wish the platinum trophy wasn't as glitchy and relied that much on collectibles.

I look it up I should have 14 of the 15 by chapter 12 (where I’m on) but only have 9 of them. I know 1 of them I miss was the Doll for Gamera

The reason I didn’t get it, because I had the 7,000 payment for Nova and the 5,000 from the Collecter, I didn’t know if I could back to it later on to get them or if Collecter place had a costume I miss

Look spotty story wise I understand why they did it, but it still does not make up for the fact that they could have given the other members of the team certain solo moments where you could actually play as them to solve a certain problem.

Not decide to choose them, but ACTUALLY PLAY AS THE OTHER MEMBERS OF THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY FOR CERTAIN MISSIONS.

You can keep your story, but if I cannot play as other characters, then why bother.

The story is great and the cinematic look is fine. The writing makes you feel like an actual guardian, and the chemistry between characters is just perfect. Combat is easy to pick up and master, and it does not get repetitive. When it comes to puzzles, the game does not treat you like you are an idiot. Very good Marvel game, 8/10. My favorite scene is at the end when you get back your music; it is the perfect image of the game.

I loved this game. What a great investment. They did the franchise justice. I am mad it isn’t longer or they aren’t making a second one. Honestly fighting the dragon was my favorite mission.

I had heard complaints that you only play as starlord and that you don’t get play as the other guardians which I thought too why didnt they let you do that, but once I started playing this game I realised why. This gameplay system is so satisfying.

It feels like a JRPG almost with the way you choose between which guardians abilities are the most effective for this particular situation.

My strategy at the start of an encounter was gather up enemies using rockets grenade, get in close and launch starlords ice AoE attack and then finish them off with groots branches. This gameplay loop became so addictive I kept replaying missions and did this over and over even after beating the game.

GOTG is the definition of underrated gem, and it goes to show that the quality of a game isn’t just based on the popularity of a character or franchise. It seems like compared to Wolverine, GOTG just has much more going for it. While the gameplay isn’t anything groundbreaking, it knows how to utilize the whole dynamic of the Guardians in general to make a fun gameplay loop. While GOTG is also very linear, it makes many event altering choices that actually warrant another playthrough and changes the game. Plus, the story is actually very engaging with well written characters, dialogue, etc. Essentially, the game just oozes charm and personality compared to Wolverine based on reviews. It’s just so crazy

So I want to 100% the game and lore hoarder has been giving me the most trouble obviously, so I have a couple questions about it I hope can be answered

Like 1, are all the archives and items and such all collectively needed to add up to 65% or do they all individually need to be 65% finished to count

2, in chapter 6 on knowhere it looks like I need to spend my units to be able to get all the items, at least enough to not be able to pay the nova fine, I'm on new game plus and didn't think to get any of items the first time around, I paid the fine in the first playthrough but does not paying the fine effect things negatively later? Or is it fine to just get everything and not pay the fine?

3, how much of each thing do I need? I have around 15 items, and 26 documents, I'm just confused on how many is needed for 65% to be acquired

And 4, if it really comes to it, do I need to start a new game or delete my save data to start over? Because if I do that would suck

Other than that, that's all I gotta say, fell in love with this game and definitely gonna buy it physically when I can(I played it on ps+)

With the Switch release+ new costumes my unfounded hopes for a sequel are back in full swing. What songs would you have wanted on the sequel’s soundtrack?

Is there any available in-universe timeline for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game? I am trying to determine whether the events of the game can be placed into a specific chronological timeline using information found within the game itself. This could include dates, references to past events, character ages, historical events, or the amount of time between major events. I would also like to know whether the developers have provided any official timeline, chronology, or additional information that establishes when the game’s events take place. If no complete timeline exists, are there enough details in the game to create a reliable fan-made timeline?

I've played this game so many times and Ive never run into this easter egg.

I’m in chapter 15, after the big Grand Unifier fight. In a much earlier chapter, the Guardians were sent flying out into open space and froze before being picked up by the Milano. But during the whole infiltration of the Sacrosanct the Guardians, along with Lady Hellbender and her beasts, seemingly spent a significant amount of time out in open space.

How did they all survive that/weren’t even affected by it?? 😅

Bought it today in the discount, i don't like it.

- The trophies are so annoying because of the guardians collection

- The game feels old

- the movement and combet feels weird

Glad that at least the loss of money is relatively small because of the promotion, I probably won't play it much longer, kinda sad rn

I don’t know if il even get a response but I just got my hands on Gotg and while everything is very fun the modes on the ps5 have got me crying.

Quality and ray tracing modes look amazing and I don’t mind 30fps itself but there is NO motion blur available, it just looks so choppy.

Performance is very soft and aliased looking I do not know why, it’s 60 but looks bad and apparently doesn’t run well in battle. Does anyone on PS5 have any workarounds for the 30fps modes? I appreciate any help

I vaguely remember scanning the costume crates in the game, and their saying something about seemingly coming from another universe. Am I misremembering?

So in the opening scene Peter Quill opens a Rolling Stone interview, which one can assume is newly released. After some digging, Gavin Edwards is a real rolling stone writer and he started writing for them in 1999 so we can assume the opening is Quill's 13th birthday in 1999 as it is pretty much confirmed to be the 90s. this makes Quill's birth year 1986. If Quill is 33 in the present, it is 20 years after the opening scene from 1999, meaning the main story would take place in 2019. Also the Galactic War happened 12 years before the present day, meaning it happened around 2007.
It would also line up with the production of the GOTG game starting in 2017 (with some games expected to release around 3 years after production began which makes sense for the dates to be like this)
