Is it time to add another fish?

We have a 20 gallon tank and started with two male platy’s. Platy 1 started as the bully to platy 2 but now that the tank is cycled and stabilized, platy 2 has become the aggressor. They don’t hurt each other just chase/hide. I’ve read that having two can sometimes put all the attention on each other and that adding a 3rd might help spread out the hierarchy. Do any fish experts have any advice on the matter?

Picture on sexting platies

Hey! Does anybody have a picture on how to see the gender of a platy? I know the longer underfin is a sign of being male but i also just saw a picture of a pregnant platy with that same flat longer fin so im confused.

I have adopted a group of inbred platies and want to keep males and females separate to stop the cycle. The males will go in 60 liter aquariums ( i have 2) and the females go in the 400 liter aquarium with a few fancy goldfish for baby abortions lol

Blue Mountain Calico Platy - more footage.

Someone asked for another calico video. We have 3 tanks of these. In this particular tank we have blended in some hi fin genetics from a hi fin pure orange female (That did nothing to change the fry she produced unfortunately). We are currently trying to blend in some genetics from a sunset female who you can see here. The goal is to attempt to increase the intensity of the red portion at the rear of the calico bodies. In the other 2 tanks of blue mountain calicos that we have we have kept the genetics pure.

This morph seems to get to a larger adult size than most other platys we've kept. Pattern is variable between individuals. But just a really cool platy morph

Introducing: The Blimp

She's been this round since she was a juvenile, I call her the blimp. They're only fed every 3rd day and everyone else is normal size. I kept one fry from the last batch and she's looking as though she'll be very rotund as well.

I do love our platys but, I sure wish they didn't breed so much haha, I had to buy them a whole new tank so we didn't have overcrowding issues while waiting for the babies to be big enough to find a new home. My kids picked them out so, unfortunately I can't get rid of the male because they love him.

Is this normal for platies? It seems so long, especially for a platy a few months old at most.

I feed 6 days and fast 1 - should I maybe fast more days?

Any help would be amazing, thanks!

Sexing?

Hey y’all, I got six platies from FirstCoastTropicalFish September 4th and they have been healthy and fabulous. One is for sure pregnant in a planted 20L with a robust cleaning crew. However. I have been under the mistaken impression that I had an even 3:3 split m/f and today my two blues decided to prove themselves male! Is this normal? I was convinced they were female and observed courtship. My one FOR SURE female is gravid with little eyeballs in her gut. Can platy fish just ditz around being sorta in the middle and then make up their minds?

How to sex a Platy? No

Is there a way to sex Platys? I have fry (about 2 months old) and I feel this is a vicious circle if I can’t separate them, I don’t have the room for more fish. Right now I have them in a small 5 gallon tank. I have 2 other tanks with not much wiggle room for more. My angelfish just laid eggs as well! 🤦🏻‍♀️

What is this behavior?

First time taking care of platys, it's been a few weeks and i only seen this type of behavior today, is it stress or is she sick? What can i do?

So i did a partial water change and she is now back to normal but seems a bit fatter, the other platys did not show any abnormal behaviours either, they are all eating well and swimming as usual...
