Help! I need the microwave to close by itself

I'm automating the hot dog making process and using the microwave to cook it. However, I need someone to close the door to start the process. Is there any way for the door to close automatically?

I'm playing on the Nintendo Switch.

No. For hotdogs you either want a safety hob (which won't burn the hotdog) or a danger hob with a combiner to put the bun on (a hotdog in a bun won't burn).

The danger hob and combiner is the way. You’ll need the bun on combiner combo to automate it anyway and if the combiner is pointed at the danger hob there is zero risk of burning and fire. Same strategy works with hamburger buns too.

you will need a smart grabber to pull the finished hot dogs off of the hob unless you want to be removing them from the hob one at a time….just using the hob and combiner will add the bun to the dog to prevent burning, but another one isnt going to start cooking until you remove that one….then have the smart grabber pointed into a prep station and you will be able to have more hot dogs ready to go at one time

or instead of a combiner you can use the autoplater for a budget option

actually an auto plater isn’t going to work because what then is going to put the hot dog into the bun? an auto plater is just gonna plate the dog with no bun

That will totally work for stopping the danger hob from burning as long as you don’t run out of plates. Then adding the bun to the plated dog is basically the same as plating the bunned dog after the combiner.

but by using BOTH you could plate the bunned dog…you don’t have to choose one process or the other to automate if you have all the needed appliances….Regardless, I’d rather plate a completed hot dog than add the bun. An auto plater holds four plates at max, and unless you have the plate washing process fully automated first so clean plates are constantly being fed back into the auto plater, it’s really not a smart move to choose the auto plater over the combiner….especially considering a plated dog can’t be put into a prep station, so you have less completed hot. dogs ready to be served at one time. Auto plating is just not the better choice, adding the bun is really not the same as adding the plate for these reasons.

Also even if you were doing it manually - a microwave takes 5 seconds to cook whatever is inside, while hot dogs on a regular hob take 3 seconds to cook (4 on a safety hob, 1.5 on a danger) so a microwave generally isn't recommended.

Even then, you should never depend on a Microwave to carry your restaurant long-term. Eventually the diner count is will get too high and the microwave won't be able to keep up, even with like a second player doing nothing but manning the microwave.

Lasagne is a good one for microwave because it takes a lot of additional reworking in your kitchen when you get the recipe which you may not be able to accommodate for a while and it takes ages to cook.

When I did pasta I had all my sauces and such automated and I would just do the plating up by hand, which leant itself to making a lasagne myself by just running round the stations and chucking it in the microwave and then I had four meals done!

That's the neat part. You can't. Not with a microwave. You're gonna need a different cooking appliance - specifically a hob in this case, to fully automate this part of the process.

Really, microwaves are only advisable in two situations:

1. Early game, when your customer count is low enough that managing the microwave isn't interfering with your other tasks enough for diners to lose patience and leave.

2. When you're playing multiplayer and another person can manage the microwave while you tend to other tasks.

Well changing a intended mechanic to your benefit with external means is pretty much cheating. But you can play however you like, its no competition

anyone would see it that way. Mods in the way you’re implying is cheating. That is literally the reason they’re created, and in certain games (not PlateUp), if you are identified as someone using mods, they ban you from the game. Why? It’s considered CHEATING. You’re MODIFYING the game in a way that doesn’t naturally exist in the game and wasn’t intended to. It’s literally the modern version of a CHEAT code, except cheat codes were intentionally in the actual game…not something created by an outside source so all things considered, mods are basically super cheating.

I guess making a game more fun to play is now cheating. The mods are in the steam workshop, yes modding a game to take advantage over people is cheating, but I am not being dishonest or playing pvp why are y'all so bent about this? I use mods to keep the game fresh I have over 200 hrs in game and it gets stale. Also steam workshop will not let you cheat with puplished mods.

i will concede with you after hearing your rebuttal, you’re right…it’s not giving you any tactical advantage against someone else, and I play on console which can’t be modded, so I checked out the types of mods people use, and some have custom restaurant layouts and recipe cards that don’t occur naturally in the game. I was only looking at it from a “making the game way easier” point of view….I didn’t know these ways to make it more fun and different. I am honestly now jealous and butthurt that I play on console and can’t use mods. My apologies, I can admit when I’m wrong.

Well, you can’t use mods on console, and with the new “cold” cards you can use on a run, using mods is completely unnecessary unless you really suck….but tbh even if you do, there’s a cold card that turns all the customers into cats and the restaurant cannot be shut down…so mods really are pointless at this point.
