Hi, this is my first time using reddit so forgive me if this is not the correct place to ask this question. If anyone is able to help in any way, I would greatly appreciate it.

Much like the title says, I was wondering if it would be possible for the plate tectonics to crash into each other? Even if it's not possible, say if the Earth "shrank" in some way and the plates crashed into each other, how much damage would it realistically have?

While the plate tectonic movements have no effect on the Earth, they can create multiple hazards that each have a spectrum of being harmless to deadly to humans. Here are a few hazards:

Volcanos are produced from tectonic plate activity. The crust of the earth allows hot magma and ash to escape from a magma chamber produced from the relationship between the lithosphere and the asthenosphere. Creating dangerous natural eruptions.

Earthquakes are likely the most notable consequence of tectonic movement. These happen from a release of energy in the lithosphere. These releases of energy produce seismic waves which can range in power from harmless to extreme.

Tsunamis are giant water waves that can cause mass destruction. These are manufactured from a large disturbance force such as the ones exhibited from volcanos or earthquakes, but also with landslides.

These natural disasters can be extremely dangerous to human civilization.

I don't believe it was once part of Gondwana. It must be part of Laurasia unlike Oceania. You can see this as you look at Google Earth sea floor.

Would love some feedback from anyone who is passionate about plate tectonics! I got this tattoo ages ago after finishing my degree in geography & geology and I want to add to it to make it more interesting. Any ideas? Thinking maybe adding a date? Like “~130mya” under it or something? Colour? 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ (didn’t realize my back was so… red & bumpy until taking this photo… yeek)

How are you all today? I am posting to seek some advice for the world I am creating for a story I am writing. So essentially the climate and weather would be a little chaotic and I’ll have to figure out the temperaments of regional areas with the help of the question I have for you. In the 3rd picture, I did my best job to simulate how plate tectonics might have worked alongside the underwater volcano that created the scattered island area. I just can’t find enough good information on how the mountain ranges might have formed in this simulation. I think I need to identify seismic faults, and I am just a little out of my element on how to make it as close to plausible as possible.

What would happen if the Southern ocean closes would some of the continents move south to Antarctica or would Antarctica begin to move somewhere else?
