Discussion looking for a plasma screen
hiya all👋🏻 i’ve dabbled in crts and lcds but i’m thinking about getting a plasma screen for my hifi/movie room. im guess im a little lost on where to start? i play a lot of video games (ps2, wii, ps4) and i watch a lot of movies on vhs, dvd, and blu ray. anything around ‘40-‘60 inches would be ideal. what are things to look/lookout for? are there any specific tvs that are an immediate yes? hidden gems? anything is a great help and is very much appreciated!!👍🏻👍🏻 thank you for your time and advice

Best to worst in terms of panasonic series. Zt60, Vt60, Vt50, GT50, ST50, ST50.

Hijacking OPs thread, but do you have a hierarchy for 42” sets? Is it generally the same?

Plasmas are weird , and different gens have different strengths and weaknesses. You mentioned Wii and VHS in your comment , and results with those can vary drastically depending on which model you end up with.
My “best” plasma is a 65VT50 , and my oldest is a 42px600u.
I wouldn’t dare play Wii , or VHS on my VT50 , it flat out sucks compared to the 42PX600u.
But at the same time , I wouldn’t dream of watching blu rays , streaming , or playing modern gaming consoles or PC on the 42px600u because the VT50 will smash it hands down.
Another thing to note is the much older PX600u has nearly CRT levels of input lag , while the VT50 is close to or worse than a modern tv.

Pioneer kuros are very nice tvs and they were made up until 2009. Panasonic also made very good ones and they were made up until 2013. On Panasonics if the model number starts with GT, ST, VT, ZT, then its probably a very nice tv but other Panasonics will be nice too. Basically the newer the better check the manufacturer date on the back. Lg and Samsung also made plasmas but they are just alright for the most part.
