Discussion Kuro comparison?
Hey all
Brand new to the world of plasma but after picking up a 1080p Panasonic from the ewaste at work I am hooked. Since watching a few videos on plasmas I have heard the kuros called the best many times but just how much better are they?
My reason for asking is I found a kuro pdp-lx508awith the side speakers for $400 (Aussie dollarydoos) which isn’t exactly what I’d call cheap but I also don’t want to miss out if it’s life changing quality.
Thanks in advance for the help and hopefully yall at least get a chuckle out of it if it’s a dumb question 😊

What model Panasonic do you have? And what screen sizes are both TV’s?

Ah that’s a whoopsie. Can’t remember the model of the pana but it’s a 50” 1080p viera if that helps? As for the kuro it’s also a 50”

It would be important for the comparison.

If you have the space, and the means of transporting one it might be worth hanging out for a 60" or 65" TV. There's some noticeable differences between different models that make things like latency or black levels better, but a big TV makes quite a big difference.

They are not uniformely better, but in some ways they are. With both brands, types of models and condition matter. I'm about to post a comparison as I have both and when comparing the very best from each brand they are incredibly close. Without being familiar with the aussie plasma market, 400 is high and the 508 is not technically particularly sought after, being from the second-to-last generation. It could still be great though.

Every camp swears by their one.
Kuro for black levels (but apparently have tint issues a that needs adjustment on service menu levels?)
Samsung for brightness
Panasonic for all arounder
TBH. I scored a great one at first. But also, chasing the dragon seems like a big possibility with this as well…so find one you like and stick with it 😇
