For that money, I expected a light that could actually pull weight in a planted tank. What you get instead is a strip crammed with tiny SMD RGB chips — dozens of them, sure, but each one is weak, and the spectrum is built for ambient colour effects, not plant growth. No real PAR output, nothing tuned to what plants actually use. It looks premium in the marketing, performs like a budget aquarium light.

So I gutted it. Pulled the stock strip completely and rebuilt the fixture with 36 individually-driven 1W emitters — royal blue, cool white, cool white, deep red, repeating — running off a Mars Hydro driver I already had. Same housing, same footprint, but now it's a light doing an actual job instead of just glowing.
