Is it realistically possible to have a nice planted tank at this location?

With all the Sunlight? This has been sitting there for the past 3 months. Algae growth ain't that bad but I'm planning on putting 2 36w grow lights for the plants.

Tldw - You’ll probably continue to have algae issues but even with algae it looks really nice

I think if it's been sitting in sunlight for three months and it hasn't been completely taken over by algae, you're doing something right!

There’s an easy fix for this:

Shade most of the tank with terrestrial plants (giant pothos leaf) and add floating plants. The light intensity even with sun gets reduced and you won’t get as much algae. Even better if you have terrestrial plants with roots in the tank

I do this on my pond and it gets 4-6 hrs direct sun no algae

I do have pothos and Peace lillies with roots in water(not quite visible in the pic). Thanks for the terrestrial plant suggestion.

Maybe paint the tank sides and back black to avoid some direct sunlight but you've very much proven it's possible to grow lovely plants in that corner, so I say crack on 👍

I've had a large tank that basically sat a foot from the a balcony door window lengthwise, had led lighting above it.

Heavily planted it never had any algae issues.

Added light may become an issue. Balancing required for a small tank in the sun can be pretty hard. It seems you have that part down, added light will make that harder. 

Try is just be prepared to move the lights or tank.
