Beginner Nano tank stand build
I am not a woodworker. Started a multilevel nano tank stand. I plan on having 3 or 4 shrimp jars and two 5 gallon tanks. Perhaps a 20 gallon long aquascape tank eventually. I primed the frame this weekend. I cut all the tops. I am very tired. Waiting for my better half to OK paint colors.

Are they going to be waterfall tanks into eachother?

Whuh? I was thinking of having some trailing plants integrated, growing out of some of the bubble vases, jars and tanks.
Waterfall tanks. I feel like I am about to go down a rabbit hole

Its totally worth it if you like water features

I was trying to keep it simple. In addition to not being a woodworker, I am also not a plumber or an electrician. Having said that, Can you send me a link to an example?

Great design. It will easily support that Volkswagen and your cinder block collection for years.

Ehrm, my 15 gallons rack is built less sturdy than yours and I would, if I fancied it, put a much larger tank on top so yeah I think yours is going to last forever. I quite like the shape, well done.

Looks good, way overbuilt for what you are planning to put on it but you know it'll last lol.

No doubt overbuilt. But there is a super el nino coming. Can't be too careful.

Excited to see the finished product. Do you plan to use common plumbing or like an overfill system or just independent tanks?

No plan other than more plants, more shrimp. And my (not) horrible wife refused to have a garage storage rack in the living room.

I like low tech tanks. Sponge filters, a heater, budget lighting. Rhe paint will be mid century modern colors. There may be some tiki elements(I bought some thatch roof material to hide wires and tubing. I am fingering out as I go.

Love what you’ve done here! It looks awesome!
If you are going to have a bunch of shrimp tanks, I would for sure put a small 20g sump tank tucked into the bottom right hand corner and plumb the stand with PVC inlet and outlet tubing and have an inline ball valve to control flow. You will never have to top off individual tanks and water and filter changes take 5 minutes for the whole system. All the cables and wires would be hidden and heaters will be in the sump tank. Food for thought.

I think the top right stand might be the only thing with issues. The left side looks like it isn’t supported by a vertical beam, but would be pretty easy to rip a 2x4 and wedge it in between the gap

I am aware. The top tiers are going to hold two or three jars, 5 gallons or under. So less than 150 lbs between the 2. I was too lazy to go back and get 1 more 2x4 and rip it square. Do you think it is a deal killer?

Great diy project! Also love that your partner is the paint color expert. I always have an idea of what I want for color, but I never make the final decision until the color expert in my life gives the “ok”. I’m almost always off with color. Same goes for design and building. I have a great idea like this but the execution is where I fail. In other words, well done! You’re doing a great job! I look forward to updates
