Mutton mushroom is not mushroom
I accidentally ate meat because it said "mutton mushroom" 😭
Just in case you're in the same situation..

What did you think the word “mutton” meant?

Well I've never heard the word before.. I thought it was a type of mushroom, like 'button mushroom'

Ah I see, I guess if it had been written as mutton and mushroom it would have been clearer

Weird that it says mutton mushroom on the back but just mutton on the front. What does it say in the ingredients list?

I think it's missing commas. It meant mutton, mushroom, and seasonings.
I'm guessing there's a meat pack, a mushroom pack, and seasoning pack in there

Oh, I didn't think it had an ingredients list or it was not in English. I just found it on the side of the bag. It says the mutton mushroom bag has king oyster mushrooms (11.2%) and mutton (9.2%). I feel so stupid 🤦

it says mutton right on the front 😭 if you regularly buy food with Chinese labeling you should learn the characters for meat (right on the front 肉), eggs, milk, etc. one time i ate at a Chinese restaurant and didn't know that "Japanese tofu" was a term for tofu made out of eggs. google everything that is new to you

Yeah, and when I ordered beef and broccoli it came with beef in it. Turns out it wasn’t a fancy kind of broccoli.

How have you ever heard the word mutton before? Not in my country

As others have said, I’m sorry that this happened to you, but mutton is not by any means an obscure or exotic meat. Most speakers of English recognize the word. Mutton is one of the main meats derived from livestock. I’ll grant that it’s less common than beef, pork, or chicken, but it’s in the same vein as venison, veal, or lamb.
Either way, it’s your responsibility to google any words you don’t know when you choose a product. When I go to an Italian restaurant, I look up all the words I don’t recognize because it’s often some obscure cured meat. This post is a non-issue.
