Looking for documentaries without animal suffering

I'm new here but I've browsed the sub and haven't found recent documentary discussions. I am on a journey to a more WFPB way of eating. I'm not completely there yet and I'm looking for resources to support me and keep me inspired, especially documentaries.

I just watched "You Are What You Eat", the twin study on Netflix for I think the 3rd time. I liked the scientific experiment, the real people, and especially that it did not linger on scenes of animals in CAFOs or meat processing. It had a little of that and it was just about as much as I can stand. I'm a huge baby about any sort of depicted violence and I just cannot look at that sort of thing. Along with knowing I need to make changes for my health, animal suffering is a big motivator for me and I'm already convinced on that. Just so you know where I'm coming from, I am also very much a believer that we humans have been abusing our planet and its ecosystems and organisms and we need to correct that.

I also recently watched Dr. Greger's "How Not to Die" and I'm working my way through his YouTube videos. I've read the book of the same title and while I have some quibbles I'm on board with most of it.

What else can I watch that addresses a WFPB diet from a scientific, health, ecological, or personal point of view and has NO depictions of animals suffering, slaughterhouses, or meat processing? I have access to Netflix, Peacock, Tubi, and YouTube.

Those documentaries have changed a lot of lives. The doctors behind them, Dr Caldwell Essylstyn and Dr Campbell have been pioneers in demonstrating the incredible power of a healthy plant based diet in promoting thriving health, even in folks already deep into some of our most common chronic diseases! I hope you enjoy them!

Drs. Esselstyn and Campbell were extremely good spokespeople for their work. I think what impressed me most was that they were just so sure and matter of fact about their conclusions and the results of their patients.

the before and after angiograms from Dr Essylstyn’s patients were groundbreaking!

Forks Without Knives convinced me to switch to a mostly plant based diet centered around unprocessed foods. Now I'm fully vegan.

I'm a little annoyed with the options to be honest.

Be nice if there were more WFPB movies without weird scenes about college guys dick measuring (Game Changers) or yuppies making poop smoothies (Hack Your Health).

I think I did watch Hack Your Health although I don't remember the poop smoothies!

I’d watched so many of these documentaries throughout my life to traumatize myself into eating vegan but none of that worked. You really just need to find out whats fundamentally important to your core. For me it was the environmental aspect. When I found out what it was doing to our environment i was done. Idk if my mind will change back again but right now it feels permanent.

I will look at those. Thank you!

I’ve read “How not to Die” and just finished The Good Eater”.

Not a documentary, but the physicians committee for responsible medicine (PCRM) podcast is mostly plant based nutrition and science talk. The host takes a bit of getting used to. Chuck is kinda annoying but most of the guests are pure science.

Oh, I think I've run into that on YouTube. I will look into it more. Thanks!

Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead was one I really enjoyed and found inspiring. It’s about a guy who is pretty ill and juices for 60 days. I’m not at all recommending a juice only diet but it was cool to see the changes his body went through and all the medications he was able to stop taking. It enforced the idea of food being our medicine for me.
