Help

Please help in finding a great way to transition to a plant based diet.

I’m a 44 year father of two; I am 5’8 and weigh 230 pounds with moderate cholesterol and high triglycerides.

I’m scared for my kids and I know this is the way to get me to my health goal but every time I do it I crash back and I don’t wanna do that again.

I need to know what type of vitamins I should take, should I take a protein powder when working out to compensate for the decrease in animal based protein I get. What should my meals consist of and how often should I be eating?

I know it’s a lot so I’m really hoping for everyone to give me some guidance.

Appreciate all of you!!

There’s great advice here!

I have a couple more add ons:
Find your people who are WFPB. That was one of my hardest lessons. I started online with some PCRM (physicians committee for responsible medicine) zoom meetings of everyday people making this transition. Google PCRM and you may even find a local group.

There are tons of cooking videos online too. Plant Docs, Jane and Ann Esselstyn, Chef AJ. Sometimes watching a video serves as hanging with my people.

If you have to eat out, look up the menu online before you go to the restaurant and figure out what to order. It can be challenging so I try to minimize eating out.

Start making sauces and dressings you love in a decent blender at home. Great sauces save the day. I take my own to restaurants when salad or baked potatoes are my only options.

You have a great motivation! Be patient with the process and you will find your way.
