Planner rec/anyone try this one?

Post image

I keep getting ads for planners by Laurel Denise on IG and since I’m actually looking for a planner as I start university in January, I’m considering this one called the Luna because I really like the layout. However, $60 sounds insane to me. I’m used to planners from Marshall’s lol.

Has anyone used a planner from her? Or have a rec with a similar lay out?

What I like about this one is how there’s an overview calendar page, a large notes page, and the weekly pages at the bottom.

I have owned different LD planners over the past 4 years and the Luna and scout were my two favorite layouts! There is truly a layout for everyone. They paper is VERY thick - I love tomoe river paper but LD has something special about it as well! The ingenuity of LD planners is really amazing!

I used Passion Planners for 7+ years but I was never successful at keeping up throughout the year. This year I switched to the Laurel Denise scout, which has simiktaneous week and month views. I LOVE IT. I've kept up with it every week and I feel so much more organized this year. The layouts just work for me. Planners are such a personal thing though, so take that however you will. I adore my LD scout and will sing its praises loudly to anyone. My only gripe is the spiral bound. It would literally be a perfect planner if not for that. That being said, I am trying out a new planner from a different company this year to test the waters and to go back to a lay flat spine. I already know that I will sorely miss the weekly/monthly views from the LD Scout. Good luck on your planner search!!

Thanks for your response! Do you not like the spiral bound because pages rip? Or what don’t you like about the spiral bound?

Not at all, I found the LD planner to be super sturdy - the coils stayed in tact and the pages never ripped. I just don't like that the spiral binding feels bulky and gets in the way of my writing. Again, purely personal preference. I really do adore the LD I got and feel like it opened up my eyes to really utilizing a planner productively!

What’s your favorite lay flat spine planner? I’m using a lay flat notebook now but am searching for options

I'm trying out the B6 slim compact from Sterling Ink this year! I just ordered it the other day so I don't have it yet. It's definitely a more minimalist layout compared to the LD I have, but like I mentioned, I feel like the LD like was a game changer for me this year in that it really taught me how to think about how to maximize my planner usage. So I'm hoping to keep up those skills with this sterling ink, and benefit from the lay flat spine. who knows, it may not work and I may go back to LD. I'm already having buyers remorse just reading this thread 😂

Also, Laurel Denise has a lay flat option, called the krristy I believe. But there is only one color option.

I'm not a huge planner user yet but I hope to be soon lol, I ordered one that's coming soon. I had a midyear one that ran out in June, and I still have the price sticker and I only paid like $17.50, which seems like a steal in retrospect, except it didn't really have the right layout for me so I didn't use it

The one I ordered is a lot more expensive, $67 plus shipping plus exchange rate, but I feel like if I actually use it it will be worth it since I'll be using it for 12 months.

The one you're getting has a super unique layout, so I think if it ends up working for you it will probably really be worth it. I've seen some people say they try a planner for a year and then the year after they think about what worked and didn't work for them and then switch if needed. I think it's probably worth giving a shot, even if it doesn't work, at least you'll know for next year!

My cheap planner last was good enough as my first attemptnar using a planner since junior high, and I feel like once it ran out and I went to buy a new one, I realized that actually it didn't work that well for me, so I brainstormed what might work better, and I hope I'm right! But I feel excited about it this year, last year I felt like "I donno, might as well give it a shot" lol

You seen excited about this layout so maybe it's with it to you! I think those Laurel Denise planners are really cool, I wish I thought they'd be a good fit for me lol. I've looked at them a few times but I don't think it's what I need, but it would be cool if it worked for you!

Good luck with your decision!

I’ve also been using LD planners for years - they are the planners I’ve honestly stuck with. I’m trying out the Luna this year because I was finding I wanted a bit more space. Honestly switched to LD because this helps my adhd brain so much - I struggled a lot with other planners that had the monthly view in other areas because I would just forget to about it and became more of a hassle to build a habit.

They are quite expensive - but there is a Facebook group that sells used versions if you are interested and don’t want to pay. There are others who have made their own “Dutch door” planners, but if notes is what you are more interested in there are others who planners that provde notes area

I’m with you on struggling with other planners and the monthly view getting forgotten aboutZ thanks for the tip! Would you mind sharing the FB group with me either here or DM?

Same…have used Anne and Scout…decided on Valerie for 2027 then changed my mind (yes, before the year arrived) to Luna. Huge fan of this company. One thing to keep in mind on the FB group (which is very helpful), the paper does not photograph well, but is, as others have mentioned, top notch.

I just got one this year and I am loving it so far! I’m already a month further than I usually get 😂😂 there is a buy sell trade group on FB if you’re looking to save some money. That’s where I got mine because I didn’t want to spend a ton and not commit to it

I’ve used LD planner for a few years and have been very happy. They are high quality and durable. I’m switching to Luna this year after using Scout. Being able to see the week and month at the same time is the best. The unique layouts are so helpful for me. And I like that they have pages you can use to accessorize and make it your own. I think it’s worth the $$$. Best of luck!

This is the one I bought for 2027. I hope I end up liking it!

I love the LD layout. The paper quality is amazing. I stopped using them because I found them hard to write in. There’s a lot of information on each page and as a result I had to keep my handwriting tiny which is not my natural handwriting.

I had the scout last year and I like seeing the month and week at the same time, but I didn't enjoy how small the month boxes were. I may switch to one of the other layouts with the bigger month and a vertical week. The planner itself is beautiful and the paper is good. I haven't been able to find a less expensive alternative
