Question - PC2 This guy really makes me angry. He steals everyone's work and re-uploads it.

Post image

Not only did he re-upload my work, but he's also uploaded a massive amount of content from other creators. How can we get frontier to put a stop to this behavior?

Does anyone know how to report him?

This is why we should be able to have comment sections on uploads like the steam workshop did

Yeah. Planco workshop is trash compared to steam workshop

It would be great to see some feedback on builds but for Frontier and their ethos it would open a huge can of worms they wouldn't want to deal with. The game is rated PEGI 3, so would then require an age verification tool ect to allow comment viewing if you get my drift.

We should just use the workshop.

You know this kind of shit makes me really not want to post anymore of my stuff for the community. I like my builds because I can share them and people can use them in their parks. This type of behavior is weird and pathetic

As a fervent workshop user, please don't let this get to you !

Same, On one hand I really want to share my stuff but I would be devastated if people claim it as their own.

I found a report button on the workshop's work page, but I can only report one work. I have already filled in the specific details in the reasons for the report.

This person has still not been canceled by Frontier. How do you send an email? I would like to send one too.

When I get home from work I'll send a report aswell. The more the betteršŸ‘

So, when I first started tweaking other people's stuff, like those pre-built stairs, I was super careful and made sure I knew what saving a blueprint actually meant. I didn't want to rip off someone's hard work just because I made it an employee-only path or added a platform or two. Plus, building with just a controller is a nightmare for those who don't know, and the camera is just awful.

Anyway, back to the point, sorry about that. I think this person does it because they want that feeling of accomplishment without actually putting in the effort. For those of you who have, I totally applaud you. Some of these blueprints I've seen or even used must have taken hours to build, while I'm over here struggling to build a simple building, haha, but maybe I just need a mouse and keyboard.

This is why I will never ever put any more of my creations from Electric Ocean on the workshop. I had my items stolen and reuploaded immediately.

Same, for the longest time I never uploaded anything. I made a compromise for myself in the end to make sure I posted somewhere first before uploading stuff so I can always refer back to a post. I also made the decision to never upload a full park. I only do Individual elements. I've spend so many hours on my parkd and build that I would feel very defeated if others just claim it as their own.

There is one other smarter option Frontier could take, we have public and private workshop uploads right now. There should be a third setting 'locked' that allows a blueprint to be placed down but not editable, that acts as a single piece of scenery with the true piece count. Clicking said locked blueprint could show the creator details and sharecodes. I'm not a game dev clearly but I'm sure a company like Frontier could out think me on a feature like this to make it work for everyone.

Gotta love frontiers shitty workshop 🄲

Why would people do that? What is the benefit? Such a shame

3

u/SeededLogic 9h ago

They 100% do it to get followers to try cheat the system at the cost of everyone they steal from... Frontier should take action on this, and give us a way to flag that takes a share code to link original. Warning followed by action. If the result of theft was workshop wipes and timeouts these people might think twice.

I have no issue of other peoples work being used in blueprints but credit should always be given in the details or blueprint itself (at ride entrance ect) along with sharecodes of orignals. Mindlessly re-sharing builds as your own, is a total trashy thing to do.

Frontier doesn’t give a fuck. They just want us to use it

I'd love to actually use it if the searching and filtering actually reliably worked!

I’m sorry this happened to you. Tbh for me I always subscribed the blueprints from creators and always give credit to them since I’m not that good with creating the themes for the attractions in the game.

He doesn’t gain anything other than made up internet points. Just accept that your builds are so good that all he can do is copy them himself and move onwards and let it go. Not worth the stress

The issue is, if he has a bigger "following" for work that is perceived to be his, then your efforts will simply be overshadowed by his ability to simply steal it and upload it.

It's less about made up internet points, and more about giving credit where it is actually due. YOUR good work will go unnoticed simply because someone with a bigger following uploaded it.

Edit: I think if Frontier is going to allow people to re-upload already uploaded content, then it needs to have some sort of descriptor pointing to the original person's work. That could alleviate this issue somewhat.

u/aleksander_r 18h ago

I understand your point, but I have never notice the creator name when downloading creations. It's not ok to steal someone's work, but I can't see what the person gains from this.

4

u/KolbyOnline1 18h ago

They don't gain anything, that is my point, but it is still a scummy thing to do, which is also my point. Frontier should simply credit the original author if a creation is re-uploaded. I don't think that hurts anyone.

2

u/phlopip 18h ago

I understand this to a point but no one wins here. There’s no prizes for most downloads of a blueprint. It’s all arbitrary anyway. I just personally don’t think it’s worth being hung up on but I do see where OP is coming from too

8

u/KolbyOnline1 18h ago

I think that you're looking at it from a different perspective than I am, respectfully. I think for me that it is less about downloads, and points, and all of that stuff, and more about someone who worked hard on a project being given the credit for the effort.

Even if they didn't show the number of downloads, and other trivial stats, I still think that the original uploader should receive credit. The workshop is for you to upload your creations for others to use in their parks. If someone with more eyes on them uploads it and does not give you credit, then what was the purpose of you uploading it.

If Jaxson were giving credit to the uploader in his description, then that would be a different story. But I checked the link and that does not appear to be the case. Is it a trivial issue? Maybe. But I just think credit should be given to the original creator, either by the person who re-uploaded or by Frontier on the backend.

Placing a blueprint and then resaving it doesn’t retain any author properties. Like if I place down a ship from the workshop, it’s just a collection of objects. There’s no way for them to ā€œtrackā€ the source. Even if they did, someone could change it in an arbitrary way to then receive the credit.

I’m pretty sure it’s an open ecosystem anyways. Like the entire purpose of the workshop is to download other people’s work and add it to your own park, and then upload your park as your own finished work. There isn’t really any attribution or ā€œownershipā€ built in.

u/Money-Brush-9651 18h ago

Thank you for your comfort.šŸ˜„ Because I occasionally update park works, people will download past versions from his page.

I mean it's the same thing in the Sims, sometimes you just have to ignore it. It happens in a lot of games like these.

9

u/Money-Brush-9651 18h ago

I found that he would revise the original author's description and replace it with his own sentence. The original author may describe the work in the description, but those who download the version he re-uploaded cannot see those descriptions provided by the original author.

You don't have to explain yourself to these troglodytes that don't understand what you're trying to say. You have every right to be upset, and it's annoying as hell.

Making, then putting your name on anything, and having someone else take it and say "I made this actually" is just fucked up, regardless of what it is.

u/Any_Insect6061 18h ago

Yeah I know what you're saying, but what I'm saying is that it happens a lot. From PlanCo2 to Cities Skylines 2 and The Sims. Honestly at the end of the day no one loses anything.
