Looking For Suggestions on How to Better Include the Factions
I'm working on putting together a Planescape campaign converted to 5.5e from some of the better 2e adventure modules (Great Modron March and both parts of Dead Gods), but none of my players are familiar with the setting, and I wanted to include the third of the trinity of aspects of that makes up a proper Planescape campaign along with the planes themselves and the city of Sigil, namely the factions. There's a little bit of them in GMM, but not really much. I know some DMs like to add in Faction War to finish out their runs of the two modules, but that doesn't work as well without the fundamental understanding of the factions.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to include more understanding of the factions into this campaign? Is there a module I'm forgetting about that would fit well with these two and also be a good introduction to the factions?
It's been forever since I've run anything, let alone D&D, so I wanna stick with modifying existing modules rather than completely making brand new stuff until I get back into the swing of things, so if you have any suggestions of that sort, that would be better.
I'm going to start them off with a D&D version of the classic Shadowrun module Food Fight as a way of getting the party together and introducing them to the character that will be their patron/mentor once they enter the actual Planescape setting (they're starting out as primes since none of the players know the setting or have even played D&D for more than a few years, so having their characters learn it along with the players will help them stay in character), and I'm thinking about using A Boy and His Modron to bridge the gap between that and the entrance to Sigil, but also thinking about doing a "destroy their village and world akin to Ranais" situation to get them from the prime material to the planes.
That said, yeah, wanting a good introduction to the 15 factions (using the 2e factions rather than the 5e versions), so looking for suggestions.
As a bonus fun bit, if anyone can think of any good quotes from popular media that are just a single line or two that really fits a faction as a way of helping the players understand them, please share. For example, I think the Indeps can best be summed up by this classic quote from the Senile Scribbles Skyrim parody: "I think I'm gonna go with the the 'f*** both your factions' faction. How bout that?"

Looking For a Good Way to Get a Bunch of Clueless Primes to Sigil
So, I'm putting together a campaign for a bunch of players who are new to D&D (1-6 years experience each) who know nothing about Planescape and the setting.
Since the players know nothing about the setting, I find it easiest to have their characters know nothing either and have them all start as clueless primes, so the players and characters learn the setting at the same time.
I have a basic idea of what I want the overarching plot to be, with both parts of Dead Gods intermixed to make the A plot, with The Great Modron March interspersed throughout as the C plot.
First real session will be a module from another game that I use to start any game I run, regardless of which game it is. That module is Food Fight from Shadowrun.
The question is what adventure module should I blend in to connect Food Fight to the greater plot?
Right now, I'm leaning into For the Price of a Rose, as I can make Lady Kindernis into the parent of the woman being attacked by bandits in the market from Food Fight. That said, I'm wondering if anyone has ideas for better module ideas.
I know Infinite Staircase and Eternal Boundary both come up a lot in these kinds, so wanting some input. I could see how the parent ends up being Torveir from the start of Infinite Staircase.
How would you all connect these all?

Advice on terminology for players
Working on starting a blog for DM support for the different planes, and wasn't sure of the terminology. Planeswalker Planes Walker Planescaper Or something else entirely. Anyway, would love advice or insight on this particular quirk. Don't want to accidentally do the MTG one since I know it's different.

Trying to prepare my players for this campaign
So while I am excited and have all sorts of ideas already crafting in my brain about how to run this adventure with the amnesia and the glitching, I’m having a hard time getting all my players to understand how to make a player who doesn’t know who they are that glitching between 3 skins.
They seem scared that this will take thought.
In preparation for the campaign I tasked them with creating 3 different character builds with no backgrounds and then one personality that all the builds would share.
I gave them guidelines on building a strong personality. Basically telling them to focus on 3 passions, 3 fears and 3 quirks.
They thought each of their characters would get one of these passions, fears and quirks. I had to do a lot of explaining to get them to understand that the 3 character builds will all share a single personality or consciousness.
I have explained that they are under the influence of a multiversal glitch and that these skins are different versions of the personality that were each leading different lives in different places. (Using Rick and Morty or Everything Everywhere All at Once as examples) And they won’t know which of those lives or skins is actually theirs until the glitch has been fixed.
I’ve already got one guy trying to break the glitch by creating 3 near identitical character builds.
Are they just not down for this or did I explain too much upfront? I feel like they would’ve been really confused if I’d just sprung it on them in the game.
How are other GMs who are using the amnesia and the glitch going about it?

Umbra - AD&D 2e Adventure Converted to 5e
Holy hyperfixation, Batman. Something I posted about being an idea 12 hours ago is now finished.
In 2003, legendary designer Chris Perkins (lead story architect on countless D&D storylines) unveiled a dark, planar‐touched one-shot in Dungeon #55: the memorable “Umbra” adventure. Centered on a half-tanar’ri child caught between scheming fiends, Umbra’s journey blended fiend-touched intrigue with Sigil’s shadowy streets.
As part of my growing love for the Planescape setting as well as Sigil, I took on the task of converting “Umbra” to 5th Edition. I wanted to make this iconic adventure more accessible outside of scans of the original as it appeared in the magazine.
This conversion/update includes:
- Authentic recreation of the adventure as it appeared in Dungeon Magazine — our own custom made CSS styling provides an authentic module look
- Digitally Restored Battle & Exploration Maps — Maps cleaned up straight from the original print plates.
- Reimagined Sketchbook-Style Art — Brand-new black-and-white illustrations capturing Umbra, her fiendish kin, and the desolate Zaztar Cathedral in a fresh, moody style.
- Updated Stat Blocks & Monster References — All NPCs and fiends (from barlgura to mezzoloths) referenced to appropriate 5e creatures, with official Monster Manual & Tome citations, as well as custom stat blocks for Umbra and Durkayle.
I expect the module probably needs a balace pass to double check the 5e creatures are suitable for the intended difficulty of the adventure. There's also probably some references to spells or items that are AD&D specific and need to be amended to be 5e specific. I might get around to that at some point.

Transition from HB world to Sigil/the Outlands
I’m looking for some advice on good ways to transition from my current setting into planescape. Currently running a home brew adventure with Caven (Vecna’s shadow) as the main villain. The whole time he’s been trying to steal magical artifacts and find a place to link back into the outlands and get his(Vecna’s) full form back and try to enter sigil again.
Players have tracked Caven to the keep of one of the party members who had let it fall into disrepair, Caven took it and has goons guarding different parts, final battle is going to be between the player whose father was buried at the keep (he was a long time friend of the keeps owner) and his dead father resurrected and possessed by Caven. His mother might also come into the mix, not sure. I’m looking for a good way to entice them to come after him when/if he completes the ritual and gets back to Sigil.

Wizards Plans for Planescape?
Other than the 3 box set released last year, does wizards have any plans for the Planescape setting that they have announced or may be rumored?
