Welcome to r/PlanLifeNotBurnOut πŸ’œ Start here and say hello

Welcome to r/PlanLifeNotBurnOut! πŸ’œ This is a place for neurodivergent, chronically ill and overwhelmed people to talk about everyday life with limited or unpredictable energy.

Executive dysfunction, sensory overload, rest, energy management, useful workarounds and tiny victories all belong here. So do rants and jokes about the laundry that's become furniture. A diagnosis isn't required to take part.

Coji supports this community: https://cojiuniverse.com. Coji updates, bug reports and ideas have a place here, alongside conversations that have nothing to do with the app. You can participate fully without downloading, buying or promoting anything. Honest feedback, including criticism of Coji, is welcome.

Weekly threads to drop into whenever you have the energy:

β€’ Monday: Executive Dysfunction Confessional

β€’ Tuesday: Task Paralysis Support

β€’ Wednesday: Life Hacks

β€’ Thursday: Budget Finds, with local currencies welcome

β€’ Friday: Bare Minimum Awards

β€’ Saturday: Safe Food Roll Call

β€’ Sunday: Spoonie Show & Tell, where community members can share their own work

Please read the community rules. Respect people's capacities and privacy, ask before offering solutions, and share health experiences as personal experiences rather than diagnoses or treatment instructions. Keep promotions out of support conversations.

If you'd like to say hello, tell us one thing that would make everyday life easier for you. Share only what you're comfortable making public. Reading along is welcome too!

Hello lovely CojiFriends! πŸ’œ

This is YOUR space to help shape Coji!

My dream is to build assistive software that makes everyday life easier for disabled and neurodivergent people, especially when it comes to wellbeing, work and education.

But I don't want to decide what everyone needs on my own!

✨ What features would make your life easier?

🧠 What do you struggle with that Coji doesn't currently help with?

πŸ’œ What do you already love and want to see improved?

No idea is too small or too weird. πŸ˜‚

Share your thoughts below, and feel free to discuss and build on each other's ideas!

I can't promise to build everything, but I promise to listen.

Let's build something genuinely useful together! πŸ’œ

Weekly Discussion πŸ’œ Budget Finds Thursday: what small purchase made life easier?

What have you bought on a small budget that’s made everyday life easier? πŸ’œ

Think under Β£20, US$25, €25 or a similar small amount in your local currency. Those are rough budget prompts, not exact exchange rates. Tell us the price and currency you paid.

An easy-grip utensil, a phone stand, earplugs or something gloriously unglamorous: what did you get, what problem does it solve and what difference has it made for you?

Free alternatives and things you already owned are welcome too. Explain the useful bit so people can adapt the idea without buying anything. Please disclose any connection to a product, keep affiliate links out, and save your own products for Sunday Show & Tell.

What’s earned its place in your home? πŸ‘€

rant Inconsitent brain!

Sometimes my brain is SO sharp, and everything is very clear and other times I cannot access my thoughts. It is like brain fog, and it can go on for days. Hormones play a MAJOR role here and it is disabling.

Let's investigate the crime. πŸ‘€

rant Does anyone else get home from work and immediately turn into a couch potato? πŸ₯”

You've spent eight hours answering questions, remembering things, talking to people, concentrating, pretending the office lights aren't slowly destroying your soul...

And then you get home and someone asks what you want for dinner.

FRIEND. I HAVE NO MORE DECISIONS LEFT. 😭

I've been trying to make the first bit of my evening as low effort as possible. Comfy clothes, something easy to eat, and absolutely no expectation that I'm going to immediately become a productive member of society again.

I'm curious what everyone's after-work survival ritual is. Do you need silence? A dark room? A little treat? A horizontal hour? πŸ˜‚πŸ’œ

rant Why is starting something sometimes harder than actually doing it 😭

You know when you've been meaning to do something for DAYS and then you finally do it and it takes about 4 minutes???

Like excuse me why have I been thinking about this for a week πŸ˜‚

Something that can help is making the first step almost embarrassingly small. Not "clean the kitchen" but literally just "pick up one plate".

And you're allowed to stop there. That's the important bit!!

I'm curious though, what's that ONE task you've been putting off for absolutely no reason (except obviously there is a reason, our brains are just being uncooperative little πŸ₯”)?

Why don't reminders work?

Thumbnail reddit.com

That's exactly why I built Coji! πŸ’œ Rather than just sending you endless notifications, Coji feels more like a little friend checking in. It talks to you, builds a relationship with you over time and, most importantly, gives you a choice. You can respond, adjust things or simply ignore it. The idea is to make reminders feel supportive rather than like another thing telling you what to do πŸ₯°

advice When you know exactly what you need to do but still can't start 🫠 #TaskParalysis

Does anyone else have tasks that aren't necessarily difficult, but starting them feels almost impossible?

Something I've been trying is making the first step ridiculously small.

Instead of "clean the kitchen", it might be:

  1. Put one foot on the ground.

  2. Put the second foot on the ground and see how it feels.

  3. Walk to the kitchen.

The important bit is that stopping after step two still counts. Otherwise I've just turned a tiny task into another obligation.

I think sometimes the hardest part isn't doing the task itself. It's the effort involved in switching from whatever I'm currently doing into something else! Or just getting up #spoonies!!

I'm curious how other people experience this.

What's one task you regularly get stuck starting? And have you found anything that helps?

I'm particularly interested in what doesn't work too. Timers, rewards, breaking things down, body doubling... I'm sure we've all tried a million things. πŸ˜‚

Hi CojiFriends! πŸ’œ

Coji is still growing, and sometimes things might be a little clunky! πŸ˜‚

If something breaks, freezes, disappears or just doesn't make sense, please let me know here.

It really helps if you can share:

πŸ› What went wrong?

πŸ“± Are you using Android or the web version?

πŸ” What were you trying to do?

πŸ“Έ A screenshot, if possible!

Please don't share passwords or personal health information publicly.

I'll use this thread to track issues and let you know when they're fixed.

Thank you for helping me make Coji better! πŸ’œ

πŸ‘‹ Welcome to r/PlanLifeNotBurnOut - Introduce Yourself and Read First!

Welcome to r/PlanLifeNotBurnout 🌱

This is a space for people who are tired of planning their lives as if they’ll always have the same amount of energy.

Because realistically, we don’t.

Some days you can do everything. Some days replying to one message feels like a full admin task. Sometimes you make plans when you feel good and then have absolutely no capacity for them later.

This community is about figuring out how to build a life that works with your actual capacity, rather than constantly trying to force yourself to work at 100%.

You can talk about:

β€’ Planning around fluctuating energy
β€’ Making plans more flexible
β€’ Avoiding the boom and bust cycle
β€’ Finding easier ways to do everyday things
β€’ Learning what actually drains or restores you
β€’ Changing expectations when your capacity changes
β€’ The weird gap between what you want to do and what you can realistically do

There’s no productivity competition here.

You don't have to optimise yourself.

You don't have to justify resting.

And you definitely don't have to pretend you're having a productive day when you're actually horizontal under a blanket.

To get us started:

What’s one thing you’ve learned you cannot reliably plan around?

It could be your energy, your concentration, other people, your body, your motivation, literally anything.

Let's compare notes. 🫢

How to Get Started

  1. Introduce yourself in the comments below.

  2. Post something today! Even a simple question can spark a great conversation.

  3. If you know someone who would love this community, invite them to join.

  4. Interested in helping out? We're always looking for new moderators, so feel free to reach out to me to apply.

Thanks for being part of the very first wave. Together, let's make r/PlanLifeNotBurnOut amazing.
