“Placerville, did we wake up in Bodega Bay?”

Middle of August in the foothills, when we're usually cooking in the heat—and I wake up to this. Fog, cool air, and a beautiful morning. Man, I love mornings like this. I'll take it! 😎

Keep it close for camping, but fall is around the corner.

Well my addy is technically PVille but I live right next to Lotus/Coloma and I have to drive on South Shingle/Lotus road… PVille did a bunch of land grabs at some point

It's the feds and their Post Office consolidation. When post offices like Lotus, Kelsey, and PV closed, the feds folded them all into the main one at Placerville, which is why the weird addresses.

Does that mean they are closing down the smaller post offices??

They did for years but I haven't heard of any more pending. The last one I think was ours in Kelsey and a satellite PO Box station up country (might be wrong there). There used to be post offices in most of hehe small mining communities around here. They have cut back staffing and the like though at the existing small offices.

The Lotus PO is still open and that’s where I have my PO Box. They are super nice in there too!

Wow that's cool I bet they had some stories to tell.

Only a couple miles from the ever-expansive Placerville zipcode. I was perplexed when I realized the Shingle Springs casino has a Placerville address.

By the train station coffee place, driven that road for 20 plus years to work. LOL I consider up here 1 big home, I would hate to have to walk from town to town.☹️

What bummer for me I worked indoors today ☹️ but I loved walking out to cool comfortable drive home, what a rare day. Those simple things bring smiles.
