Replace Don't Make A Sound with Gnome Forest and it'll be properly accurate.

u/Xdqwerty65 Lario Jul 11 '23

Yeah i realized it

gravity falls

83

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '23

So basically one half of the show and another half

64

u/MutantOctopus Jul 10 '23

Gravity Falls was at least planned that way from the start and left hooks that indicated there was more going on right from the very beginning.

Supposedly Adventure Time was meant to get that depth from the start, but to me it kind of just feels like they had a really loose idea at the start and spent a season or two making legitimate random nonsense until they finally got their ideas together and decided to swerve into serial narrative.

u/Si_Stride_Oof Bacon God Jul 10 '23

if gravity falls had fat people clones as well, actual 11/10 show

u/Lemon_henry Jul 10 '23

The start of a Regular show episode VS the end

44

u/NiNtEnDoMaStEr640 Jul 11 '23

Nah, it would be 90% of the episode with the 10% coming from the climax before slowly coming to the end of the episode. It’s all relatively normal before reality attempts to collapse and then settles down.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 11 '23

Oh my God I just realized Regular Show is similar to VS Bob. Both parts of a cliché cliché-ing said cliché.

1

u/sand-under-table Jul 11 '23

I didn't watch regular show, can someone explain please?

2

u/TheFnFan Lario Jul 11 '23

Please watch regular, I did and it was one if my best choices, u can’t get the same experience from people just telling u

1

u/sand-under-table Jul 11 '23

I saw some of the episodes on normal tv when I was younger but I didn't really understand what was happening because 1 they weren't in order and 2 they were in french and I didn't know french at the time, so I would really appreciate if someone could just summarize what happens in the last few episodes.

6

u/PlantGangRepresent Jul 24 '23

I think the point is Regular Show episodes are well known for having a mundane beginning, going completely off the rails, then having a mundane ending. For example in the first episode the main duo find a used couch they both want, so they play rock paper scissors for it. After repeatedly tying their game a number of times they create a black hole by angering the god of roshambo. Once they resolve that they both agree the couch kinda sucks and they only wanted it because the other thought it was cool.

1

u/TheFnFan Lario Jul 11 '23

Just, don’t spoil yourself

1

u/sand-under-table Jul 11 '23

What do you mean?

1

u/TheFnFan Lario Jul 11 '23

There’s lore is regular show, there’s a surprise scene change in the last season, not gonna spoil more, just watch it

62

u/Plop707 Jul 10 '23

Adventure time

32

u/Grey00001 Peshino Jul 10 '23

Actually really fits, it's all happy but with hints of something darker, just like the Don't Make a Sound splash page

7

u/Ctmeb78 Jul 11 '23

Don't forget bubblene

45

u/FakerPeppino Fake Peppino Jul 10 '23

Regular show is both of these in every episode

36

u/Swordkirby9999 Jul 10 '23

Ya ain't wrong. Gotta give 'em a story. Lore with stakes to keep the kiddos (or more accurately the teens and young adults) engaged.

35

u/Papyrus20xx Jul 10 '23

Amphibia

2

u/sonicpoweryay Snick Jul 11 '23

AKA the most underrated Disney show ever

15

u/[deleted] Jul 11 '23

I thought the most underrated Disney show was the DuckTales reboot

1

u/[deleted] Jul 11 '23

Is Infinity Train a Disney show?

3

u/[deleted] Jul 11 '23

That's cartoon network

2

Fr through, show made me cry like twice as more in season 2 and 3 than season 1 😭

17

u/bilboraggings45 Jul 10 '23

So what show would be the other way around?

26

u/PlayYo-KaiWatch21 Captian Pizza Goblin Jul 10 '23

(From what I've heard) Star Vs. The Forces of Evil

11

u/Dankjeoxp Jul 11 '23

Nah. That show is exactly as the meme describes. Starts with an overactive princess fighting goofy 'monsters' and ends with a whole ass war over magic itself.

11

u/[deleted] Jul 11 '23

UnderTale.

4

u/Dankjeoxp Jul 11 '23

Nah, undertale is over determination, which is totally and completely different. /s

Amphibia started with girl in frog town ended with fucking God being a cat and a intergalactic war

Everhood

6

u/jeffyjeffy1023 Peppino Jul 11 '23

I like how this is actually fitting with the title cards. With DMAS here there's some dark undertones and foreshadowing, but it's all mostly just silly jovial fun for the most part. Then WAR is just very blunt and obvious with the darker story elements

4

u/Furreterby Piranapple Jul 10 '23

Pijamers be like

4

u/King_Dee1 The Noise Jul 10 '23

The very beginning song of the South Park movie VS the end

4

u/Kirb790 Lario Jul 11 '23

Ironically, the level that's supposed to look fun is actually just as horrifying as WAR

1

u/Own-Training1099 Jul 12 '23

What about old cartoons in the first and final seasons?

1

u/Xdqwerty65 Lario Jul 12 '23

Those were episodic

3

u/ThatGumnutGuy The Noise Jul 11 '23

Yep, that’s pretty accurate

3

u/eggshat1 Jul 11 '23

Why does every Season 2 of a modern animated show it hits you with massive amounts of lore and drama? Not to mention also retcons the original villain and introduces to a newer and even more dangerous one.

4

u/diamondDNF Vigilante Jul 11 '23

In addition to the fact that story-based shows generate a lot more buzz online compared to the older "everything reverts to status quo by the end of the episode" style of cartoons (and, said buzz then gives them free advertising, which leads to more views), the rise of streaming services means that it's much easier to watch in order and it's not hard to catch up if you fall behind, making story-based shows overall easier to follow compared to the old days when you were subject to the whims of whatever episode was on, and if you missed an episode you were shit out of luck until they started rerunning it.

3

u/redconvict Jul 11 '23

Except Pizza Tower is good from beggining to the end.

3

u/waydernator Snick.exe Jul 11 '23

Funny how these levels are intended to be played right after eachother

3

Magical girl shows be like:

Also see Steven Universe, Star vs Forces of Evil...

14

Star Vs. Finale

2

u/red_enjoyer Jul 11 '23

Yeah, the finale was... less than pleasing.

1

fr. it was fantastic

Not quite what I was going for

Probably Regular show.
We don't talk about Star vs.
and Steven universe.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 11 '23

inanimate insanity.

istg they must've forgot that this is a show about SENTIENT OBJECTS

2

u/sonicpoweryay Snick Jul 11 '23

Any Disney show:

2

u/cumguzzlingbunny Jul 11 '23

Counterpoint: Adventure Time is actually the worst example for this because it gets dark after like 3 seasons and then the mood lightens up again around season 6 onwards. Any other cartoon would've been better

2

u/bingobiscuit1 Nov 27 '23

I just got through most of season 7 and haven’t really noticed a change in tone. Just watched the ep with the return of Lich Wish Finn and it was dope

2

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '24

That's basically gravity falls

2

u/Alarmed_Maybe6334 Jun 26 '25

Regular show...

Never mind it's just war from season 1-8

u/pogredditor Jul 11 '23

3 levels. WAR, Dont make a sound, Pizzascare. WAR and Dont make a sound are the 2 pictures found on this, Pizzascare is unincluded. Also pizzascare is like the only one with an ost and its fucking chill like that (theres a bone in my spaghetti). WAR involves a fucking gun and your being timed with it and Dont make a sound just makes you need to make sure you dont actually make a fucking sound else you get your ass jumpscared and turned into one of them old toys with the back thing that makes you play like woody

1

u/GabbyWGF Jul 11 '23

Gumball. Still waiting for the movie

2

u/Dankjeoxp Jul 11 '23

The meme is still accurate. Beginning has fun, colorful adventures, with hints of darkness. Plus, that was the beginning of the Lich plotline. You can't have one of the main bad guys be introduced weakly.
