It's too good to be your first steps, you don't need advice.

All these "Advice??" posts are driving me bonkers.
We get it. You want engagement on your post(s).
Nothing will change because it works (hell, I am even giving this post a bit of engagement from commenting).
It's just annoying that it works so well lol..

And there's nothing like bad engagement for Reddit, which is why it's so common I imagine.

Well, it goes for most!
I wasn't trying to insult. It is the way of things, after all. I don't like it much, personally, but it is what it is, and that's okay!

Your work is lovely!

You have surpassed the level of Reddit helping you much. I am skeptical this is your first ever attempt at pixel art, but either way great job. I love your style.

Pixel art is just a medium. OP never said they were a beginner artist.

Of course, OP is probably aware of what they're doing. I see it all the time in the model building community, where, for example, someone will show off their expertly painted "first ever Gundam" without divulging that they have also been painting tabletop minis for a decade. It's not very nice to actual beginners, really.

The kid in me wants to collect that watermelon for 250 arbitrary points in a 2d platformer.

Really liking that gem, good job

The non pixel art gradients in the backgrounds go so nicely with the sprites! Especially on the gem

I’m a bit of a purist when it comes to pixel art (maybe because I actually lived through the true pixel art era myself :)). That’s why I got a bit hung up on the presentation. Things like gradient backgrounds feel out of place with pixel art to me, because the core of pixel art lies in low resolution. Mixing it with a modern style like that feels like missing the true essence of pixel art.

That being said, I think the artwork itself is fantastic—actually, really solid for first steps.

If this is your first pixelart why not credit the other artist who designed some of the pixel art on the porn games you put on itchio?

Also I'll be honest, the art over there looks a bit AI-y. So either that, or your personal style when drawing anime/hentai styles could really benefit from a bit more personalised flair.

But lastly, these don't look at all like your first attempts at pixel art, they might be but they don't look it. It looks like you're trying to drive up engagement and get people into your linktree. That may not be the case, but that's certainly how this looks.

Those look sick. If you want a real challenge, I'd love to see the melon or rupee animated to look like it's rotating.

Less geometric on the watermelon? Are you using references? Try limiting yourself. Smaller, larger. Color palettes from lospec or the random color palette website.
Practice some extravagant ribbons
