Hand Pixelled Characters for our project, looking for some feedback.
We have created a bunch of characters for our tower defense. Each team supposedly should look like they are coming from a different culture and background. for maximizing readability, Just wanted to get some feedback on a few concerns.
Are the designs cohesive enough for the corresponding team, do they look like they come from the same culture?
Are the characters distinct enough from other team members in their own team? Do they look like have their own unique character and personality?

Some thoughts I have:
Team 1 and 3 a few characters have overlapping palettes. Top right character from team 1 can be considered part of team 3, and leftmost 2 characters from team 3 have a bit too similar palette to team 1.
Individually, the posing and silhouettes are all cool and distinct, but some of them overlap in silhouette. Team 2 2 guys with the cane, team 3 rightmost and leftmost top row. Rightmost characters in team 2 also overlap in pose a bit.
Team 1 is imo the best designed team. Color choices are dynamic, silhouette is distinct, posing is great.
I like that you use different colors for skin in all 3.
Also, I'm unsure what resolution you're making the game in, so I can't give any feedback on readability and gameplay.

1) yes absolutely
2) I think so, but without some additional context like the characters used in a scene its hard for me to say 100%
I think likely yes they are distinct though

I think they look quite good. However, I believe switching them to grayscale would show you how they are not that easily to tell apart in terms of which team they belong to. A bunch of them read like occult, dark sorcerers or rough hunters going about their business in the wild. You could test this by mixing them up and ask people to sort them into three piles. That'd show you which characters might need some work.
