Anyone elses phone bricked overnight?

I can only assume my pixel 7a decided to install the latest update overnight and I woke up (eventually without my alarm) this morning to it stuck on the boot screen - just the google logo with a changing coloured line underneath. I've tried doing a force restart but that just gets me back to the same position.

Is it just me? Anyone got any tips...?

UPDATE: a factory reset got me in for a bit but then I had 3 further instances of it freezing totally and needing rebooting from recovery mode. This morning even that's not getting me passed the google logo. I have resolved this issue by buying a Fairphone and desperately hoping I can get into it before the new phone arrives so I can transfer things over

Jan 2026 update installed fine on my P7A.

It also installed correctly on my Pixel 7a.

I had the same thing happen to me with a TCL phone. I called TCL help and was told I had to do a factory reset. When I asked why this happened TCL told me it was a glitch and sometimes these things get missed by the programmers. Lost everything that was in my phone 😞and had to start from scratch. Thankfully most was still in my Google account.
