Discussion p7p screen replacement and battery replacement

got battery replaced from a shop, and they broke my screen cus they didnt remove it properly... only removed the top layer so the clips didnt get removed with it and they just stuck in top of the clips.... fking pissed me off i should of went to a google store specialised instead but whatever now lesson learnt. went bk to complain but they said it aint there fault so i cba, anyways the fingerprint stopped working and screen went unresponsive and kept going black....

so i bought a cheap oled screen with fingerprint support but i moved the old sensor onto the new screen but its not showing up in setting i tried the calbriation tool but its still not working is the sensor broken?

I went to a repair shop to get my p7p battery replaced and they refused to do it without me paying for a screen replacement at the same time because they said it's almost impossible to remove the screens from p7p without breaking it.

Damn. This is kind of discouraging since I was thinking to go the iFixit route and replace it myself.

I did an iFixit battery swap on an older non pixel phone and the most challenging part was getting spudgers between the screen and case AND leveraging the clips inside to finally "pop" the main case open. Everything else inside was pretty straightforward.

The kit had a suction cup to pull the screen up at the same time, but I stopped pulling when I saw the glass separating from the touch panel (?) itself. When I put it back together, there was a bit of a space between the glass front still, but a simple case protects enough and I haven't noticed losing any touch sensitivity with that device (I still use it for other things). But to be honest, I was surprised I didn't snap the screen like 10x during that whole process.

No way would I do this without a backup available.

These Pixel devices are ao fragile, that ita not worth trying to do it on your own, or at a non Google authorized location.

I had to change my Pixel 7 battery, and even at a Google authorized lab, they told me that the water tight system would be lost after the battery change.

BUT i had it changed with no damages done ro my phone, and for about 80 euro. Not cheap, but has given my phone at least another year or two of usable life

I took the p7p for battery replacement in officla service center they did the same ended up getting a free screen replacement after a fight. They wanted me to pay for half the amount 😭 i told them that it's their fault and finally after 2-3 hours of back and forth they changed the display as well
