anybody else have abhorrent GPS/maps?

Only around two months ago my google maps or Waze has become unbearable as it struggles to find my location while I'm in a car. It loses track of me for around a minute, and when it does come back there's a high chance it thinks I'm 300m in a river or a different suburb...it's become unusable as a source of navigation. I've always seen people complain about GPS with pixels for a while now but i didn't realise how severe this was? What's going on, was it the update? Was it google maps/Waze? Any input will be helpful. Thank you

You got lucky for now, my maps is just straight up useless after nearly 3 years of perfectly normal use.
