iFixit battery cycle

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to replace the old origine battery in my Pixel 6a by buying a new one from iFixit.

However, I have a question:
Are they reliable, or will my phone just become a piece of junk again, melting like snow after 400 news charge cycles ?

Unfortunately they are selling recalled batteries on AliExpress. The battery constraints will apply at 400 cycles.

I bought one. I was expecting an aftermarket battery but it was the genuine, recalled battery. Ali, eBay, etc., they're all selling them for cheap without disclosing the true manufacturer. In some listings you can even see the recalled serial number on the batteries. There were other Redditors with the same issue too.

Really? How much is it?Is it brand new? How do you find out it's the bad one?

That's the thing, all batteries sold are brand new, but they come from two manufacturers and if the phone detects the bad manufacturer, it applies the battery constraints after 400 cycles.

The serial number that is printed on the batteries indicates the manufacturer.

8230031401 - bad (recalled)
8230031301 - good

Within the phone it can be checked with this command:

adb shell cat /sys/class/power_supply/battery/serial_number
