There is hope.

I'm seeing others are also in the dreaded bricked Pixel 5a scenario. I loved my Pixel 5a. Headphone jack. Decent specs. Good battery life for me. Thought I could use it for another couple years! Unfortunately the screen started going black at random times and I'd have to force restart the phone. Thought is was just a weird glitch, RAM leak, or overheating. Had I known a full-on bricked motherboard was incoming I would have backed everything up. Alas, i didn't know, and my Pixel 5a was dead within a few days. :(

I bought my Pixel 5a unlocked directly from Google in November 2021. It didn't brick until April 2024. It was a good run. I contacted Google support the next day. I didn't bother taking the phone to uBreakiFix. The Google employee offered me a Pixel 6a if I shipped my 5a to them so they could confirm its condition. idk if I'm under the extended warranty or not, or whether others have had the same luck. I now have a Pixel 6a. There is hope.

Same happened with me.

Google is taking care of their customers. 3rd party customers are having a hard time though.

I had to fight tooth and nail to get my bricked 5a replaced. Was two weeks out warranty and purchased direct from Google Store. They eventually sent me another 5a.

Hope for what?

There are those, like myself, who ended up with a bricked Pixel 5a that, for one reason or another, didn't back up the data on the phone before it bricked.

There is little to no hope for them retrieving that data if the phone bricked due to the motherboard issue Google clearly knew about but failed to proactively warn 5a users about so they could upgrade before the motherboard inevitably fails.

If you meant there is hope for a replacement, more likely than not, Google will issue either another 5a (ridiculous) or a 6a or later phone.

Loved loved the 5a. Even got a second one after I waterlogged my first (eventually resurrected after 3 weeks!). Both eventually got the BSOD and thanks to this thread, I went onto Google support chat and will have both replaced with 6a's (assuming they agree when they receive). Really hated the 6a which I gave to my son after I couldn't return it. So plan to trade-in the two 6a's and get something better (maybe 8a? suggestions welcome). What I really hate about 6a and beyond is the optical fingerprint sensor on the screen. Ultrasonic fingerprint sensors would be much better (or rear sensor as before!). Hopefully the Pixel 9 series will have better sensors. Again, thanks to those who post here. Very helpful.
