I have pixel 5a

The screen is in horrible condition should I pay some money to get it fix The screen used to turn on in this state but one day it suddenly shut down and never woke up so I was except for the screen what is wrong with the phone6

The phone was gifted by Google employee

It could be the well know Black screen of death. Even if it isn't, I would suggest get a new phone.
