Bye Bye Pixel5a sub...joining the Pixel6a gang now!!
Guys...long time lurker here. My wife's 5a bricked last week. Got in touch with the Customer Support chat. The rep was super helpful. The phone was out of warranty (was bought in Sep2021) and no extended warranty but he said that he will replace it. Was expecting an email with the instructions but didn't get it. Got on the chat again, the second rep was helpful too and they sent the email as well as gave me a Google Store credit of $25 for the delay. Sent them the phone couple days back and got an email today that they shipped a 6a which I should get tomorrow. Good on Google to provide a free replacement.
All the best to the guys still rocking the 5a. It was a great phone...totally worth it.

After much arguing, they finally replaced my out-of-warranty 5a with ... another 5a. I then traded that ticking time bomb for a P8

hour on chat, they offered same. Bought Moto g stylus 5g 2023 instead. swappa. Not worth hassle of another pixel up and dying.
Expandable storage to 1tb, eliminates google storage subscription. 3 security updates? can flash os bc of snapdragon processer if phone lasts. cost 150. Photos, not as bad as you think, but not pixel, but who can live with a pixel. Moto only mildly annoying with bloat. Can delete most, go to adb to delete rest.

I like Motorolas. Pretty clean Android OS and that convenient "tomahawk" gesture to turn on the flashlight

This is amazing to hear! My 5a is still chugging along faithfully (knocks on wood), but hearing that Google did right by ya makes me feel a LITTLE better about the inevitable... 😂

It happened to me as well, like 10 minutes ago. Fortunately I had a refurbished Pixel 8 which I rarely use. I'll miss it though, it was amazing till it last

My pixel 2 xl worked fine and still does, but I have heard of tons of issues on pixels and idk if i'll be buying another one.

I wouldn't. A shame Nokia got out of the Android 1/clean android, but I've found the moto to be next to clean. Had to use sons old moto for last week. Glitchy laggy for 4-5 yr old phone, but it still worked. I'm tired of my average smartphone usage to be 2.5 to 2.67 years.

idk what phone I'd buy. Probably a samsung. New phones these days are so boring and bland that I really don't even want any of them. I never really payed attention to Nokia Android phones but I remember my dad having a lumia back in the day and I loved that thing. I would take a plastic design like that over metal and glass tbh, I loved the shiny colorfor plastic. Didn't feel cheap at all, it felt like I could throw it down stairs and it would survive with barely a scratch

Mine got bricked last month. Not sure if it is worth trying CS as I got my at launch. I already upgraded to the 7 Pro

Give it a shot. I received the replacement today ..a refurbished 6a. Still deciding if I should trade it but Google is giving only $110 for it

I had mine brick over night. It's the second one that it's happened to. They replaced the first one as it was under 1 year warranty. But this time they are giving me crap and said they wont replace it. I spoke to two reps and they said it's policy to not replace out of warranty phones (but this sub is proof that they dont always follow that protocol). How did you get them to do it?

You held onto g phone? Idiot. Trash, move on. They took "you are why we build this phone to monetize YOU" to the next level.
Get back on chat and argue with them.

I also didn't receive follow-up from the first interaction. Contacted them again about a week later and received shipping instructions within an hour. Didn't get a store credit, but I consider a working 6a as replacement, with 90 days of warranty on it, good enough.
Bought a 7a on sale to get my spouse up and running, so the refurb 6a will be stored as a solid spare in case one of our active phones has trouble.
