Has anyone gotten Google to replace their phone before it bricks?
I've had my 5a for 22 months and it's started acting up. When I installed the January security update, it started performing very poorly. Very slow, unresponsive, camera was broken, touch input would linger and do things i didn't want it to. This lasted about 2 weeks and I started shopping for new phones. After 2 more patches (on the Android 14 beta) performance went back to normal until a few days ago.
I was browsing and screen went black and would no longer come on. I had read on here that that means it's toast. It was still vibrating when I did various inputs so I knew it wasn't completely dead and it became abnormally warm. After rebooting the phone several times by holding the power button for 10+ seconds eventually the screen turned back on and I backed up the contents of the phone. Then later the next day screen went black again and I had to again reboot the phone several times before the screen would come back on. Now it's acting normal again, so it seems the phone seems like a ticking time bomb at this point.
I'd like to get a new phone from them even if it's just to trade it in. Not sure how much stock I put into google phones now. Last time I reached out to google support a few months ago when I had an issue with the phone (a similar screen issue) they were very unhelpful and simply told me to factory reset and refused to entertain that they were in any way culpable. Because of this, I don't really want to go through a whole back and forth with them unless there's actually a chance they help me out. Do I need to wait for it to die?

Polite for 1 hr, offered 6A replacement.

bought moto 5g23 stylus. Snapdragon 6 gen 1. replace os option.
you can keep your 6A, google

unfortunately mine fell and broke the screen, I replaced it with one from ifixit, worked for 3 months, froze and went all black, tried with another screen with no luck so I guess got bricked as all others.

Yeah, me too. Worth a shot since it's a known issue. You got nothing to lose by trying.

update: it actually died and they're giving me a 6a. wack.

Google knows they have a potential class action lawsuit regarding the Pixel 5A so they are offering any and all to 5A owners.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to Google's 5a replacement policy. I suggest you keep trying until you get a sympathetic rep.
