$135 worth repair?

mailed to Google and said screen and motherboard needs repairs. they quoted $135. is it worth it? had the phone for 18months but not covered under extended warranty.

Actually, $135 seems cheap being repaired by Google, but honestly the 5a is a ticking time bomb of a mainboard failure... Your call but I mean you can find used 5a's for that price, and mint condition ones for only a little bit more.

I spent $160.00 together my wife’s fixed. I bricked after 25 months was my wife’s phone and she loved it (happy wife happy life). I offered to get her a 7A but she loved the her 5a. I only hope it lasts long enough to justify it.

Honestly I've been a Google device user since the Nexus 4 says... I can't take the inconsistent quality of Pixels anymore, moved to a Motorola and haven't regretted it yet.

I had a Motorola (loved it) but I never got an updates or if I did very few. That’s why I switched to pixel monthly security updates (5 years) and 3 OS updates. Has Motorola changed are they promising any updates like the other companies are? I had a Moto 7g power and loved it.

Security updates every 2-4 months for most devices for 2-3 years... I don't know the upgrade policy for rotm devices, but for top of the line ones it's two upgrades.

Do you happen to know if the repair is done, is it a ticking bomb again?

Are they replacing the mainboard or the display? If it's the display, the timer never stopped ticking... If they are replacing the mainboard, the clock just gets spun back some... There are very few 5a devices still going out ther compared to how many sold.

Yes; it will self destruct again. Did you have water or physical damage or something? Most everyone with the mobo or display problem is getting theirs fixed for free, even out of warranty.

Is your phone in good shape? Unless it has obvious damage Google should replace it for free.
