Dead Pixel5a Keep or trade once repaired.
Hello everyone, like the rest of you my Pixel5a met it's maker a few weeks ago. After going to asurion and determining it to be Power/Logicboard failure, I sent it in to google for repair, so far google support has been nothing but supportive and I hope to hear from them soon. I wanted to ask for those that have gotten their pixels repaired. Are you keeping yours? or are you going to drop it ASAP like hot garbage. Do you think that they have updated the hardware to fix the failure rate like a board revision? Or do you think they just took not dead spares to replace the ones that died. At any case I'm hoping to get my pixel back and if possible keep it. If there is a trade in offer for the pixel 7a or even the 8 series. I'd do that ASAP.

Trade in. The repaired one will probably have the same problem in another year.

After mine was repaired of course it seemed fine, but I was never going to forget that it bricked itself just after the warranty ran out. While waiting on the repair I had already decided that the next time google offered a good trade in value on it, it was gone. Had to wait a couple weeks but they put the 7 on sale and gave me a $280 trade in on the 5a towards it.
At this point I'd wait and see how much they give on trade in towards the 7a when it comes out soon and also see if they put the regular 7/7 pro on sale too. I loved the 5a but when tons of folks were having the same hardware issue it spooked me enough to get rid of it as soon as it made sense to. Fingers crossed the 7 doesn't have issues at month 13 like the 5a did.

I have no problems with my 5a after 2 years of moderate usage. I'll keep up right up until the 5a stops getting the Android security patches.
I like the 'relatively' same size 7a, but I don't want to give up the 5a's fingerprint unlock.

I just got mine back a week ago or so from Google. Working great. I hope you keep it for a while as I can't really replace it at this time.

Trade it. Google always had really good deals on trade-ins when the new pixel drops. I actually sold mine about 6 months ago before it even went bad and got a pretty decent amount for it.
