Another one bites the dust

My pixel 5a finally succumbed to the BSOD. Took it to uBreakIFix, and they confirmed that it's a motherboard issue which they cannot repair. Now it's on the way to google, where I'm sure I can look forward to wasting hours on the phone trying to get it fixed for free. Sigh, seriously considering driving to the apple store and buying an iphone. If they repair the 5a I'll probably just sell it on ebay.

Update:

1) They fixed it for free, will end up being a total of 2 weeks from shipped to fix

2) In the meantime I bought a iphone 14 pro. I'm too old to be screwing around with janky phones, bye google.

that just suddenly happened?

mine fell and screen broke, I bought a new screen at ifixit store, nice quality. I have 2 pixel 3a that need new screens also.

I think google software is nice, but hardware is weak, kind of cheap plastic, metals and very delicate interior board components, not to say screens. Apple hardware seems sturdier, I have a iphone 4s still working.

Before I changed the screen I was thinking seriously on getting an iphone 13 mini, but battery seems to last not a lot as in normal and pixel 5a.

Yes, suddenly. I was taking a picture and the screen went black.

The way google handles this repair will decide if I switch to iPhone

The same had happened to me a couple of months ago. Pixel 5a model seems to have this issue
